¹⁸ And the Lord hath this day chosen thee to be a peculiar people to himself, as he hath said, that thou mayst keep his commandments,

⁷ and take you to myself for my own people, and I will be your God. And you shall know that I the Lord am your God, who brought you out from the tyranny of the Egyptians.

⁵ Now therefore if you will hearken diligently to my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be to me a peculiar people above all the nations; for the whole earth is mine: ⁶ but as for you, you shall be a royal priesthood and a holy nation. These words thou shalt deliver to the children of Israel.

⁶ For thou art a people dedicated to the Lord thy God, and the Lord thy God hath chosen thee, to be a peculiar people to himself, in preference to all the nations which are on the face of the earth.

² Because thou art a people dedicated to the Lord thy God, and the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people to himself, above all the nations on the face of the earth,

⁹ The Lord establish thee a holy people for himself, as he solemnly promised thy fathers. If thou wilt hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and walk in all his ways,

⁶ Then I cannot be put to shame, when I have respect to all thy commandments.

³² Not according to the covenant which I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt. Because they did not abide by this covenant of mine, therefore I took no care of them. ³³ For this, saith the Lord, is my covenant which I will make with the house of Israel; after those days, saith the Lord, I will adapt my laws to their understanding and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God and they shall be my people. ³⁴ And they shall no more teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord; for all will know me from the greatest to the least of them: for I will be merciful to their iniquities and no more remember their sins.

²⁵ then I will sprinkle upon you pure water, and you shall be cleansed from all your impurities and from all your idols; and when I have cleansed you, ²⁶ I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you: I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and give you a heart of flesh: ²⁷ And I will put my spirit in you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and to keep my judgments and practise them.

²⁶ but which is now laid open, and by prophetic writings made known to all the nations, according to an order of the everlasting God, for the obedience of belief

¹⁴ who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
