¹² that all may be condemned who have not believed the truth, but have taken pleasure in unrighteousness.

³⁵ In the day of vengeance I will requite, When their foot shall be supplanted. Because the day of destruction is nigh for them, Therefore at hand are the things prepared for you.

⁵ the Lord examineth both the righteous and the wicked. He then who loveth iniquity hateth his own soul.

¹⁶ But to the sinner God said, "Why dost thou mention my judgments, or take my covenant in thy mouth? ¹⁷ As for thee, thou hast hated instruction, and cast my words behind thy back. ¹⁸ When thou sawest a thief, thou didst run with him; and hast been a partaker with adulterers. ¹⁹ Thy mouth hath abounded in wickedness, and thy tongue hath framed deceits. ²⁰ Sitting down thou hast spoken against thy brother, and against thy mother's son, propagated falsehood. ²¹ These things thou hast done and I was silent. Thou unjustly didst suppose that I would be like thyself. I will reprove thee and set things in order before thee.

³ Thou hast loved evil more than good; lying more than speaking the truth. ⁴ Thou hast loved all the decrees of destruction; a tongue practised in deceit.

³ They made kings glad by their wickedness and chiefs by their lies.

² As for them who hate good and seek evil, who tear off the skin from these and the flesh from their bones:

¹¹ And when they heard, they rejoiced exceedingly, and promised to give him money. So he sought a favourable opportunity to deliver him up.

¹⁶ He who believeth, and is baptized, shall be saved; but he who disbelieveth shall be condemned.

¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness more than light, because their works were evil. ²⁰ For whosoever doeth evil hateth the light, and doth not come to the light, that his deeds may not be detected. ²¹ But he who practiseth truth cometh to the light, that his works may be open to view, because they are the operations of God."

³⁶ He who believeth in the son, hath an everlasting life; but he who disbelieveth the son, shall not see life; but the wrath of God will abide on him.

³² Some having recognised God's law, That they who do such things deserve death, not only do the same things themselves, but have even a complacency in them who commit them;

⁸ but for them who are contentious and disobedient to the truth and in subjection to unrighteousness, there will be indignation and wrath,

⁷ Because the bent of the flesh is enmity to God, [for it is not in subjection to the law of God, nor indeed can be,] ⁸ they therefore who are in a carnal state cannot please God.

⁹ Let love be unfeigned: abhor what is evil; adhere closely to what is good;

⁹ Because God hath not stationed us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

³ Indeed, with insatiable covetousness, they will, with smooth words, make merchandize of you. But the judgment prepared of old for them is not idle, nor is their destruction slumbering.

¹⁴ having eyes full of adultery and unceasing sin; ensnaring unstable souls; having a heart practised in greediness; an execrable race; ¹⁵ having forsaken the right road they have gone quite astray, following the way of Balaam son of Bosor, who loved the wages of iniquity,

¹¹ Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who doth good is of God. But he who doth evil, hath not seen God.

⁴ For Certain persons have slily crept in among us, who have been of old written of, and for this very crime, wicked men, who are turning the favour of our God into licentiousness, and denying our only sovereign God, and Lord Jesus Christ. ⁵ Now I desire once for all to remind you of this which you knew, That the Lord, having saved a people out of the land of Egypt, destroyed afterwards them who did not believe:
