¹⁰ For if one seeth thee who hast knowledge seated at table in an idol temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat the idol sacrifice?

² who invited them to the sacrifices of their idols; and the people ate of their sacrifices, and worshipped their idols,

²⁷ and went out into the fields, and gathered their vintage, and trod out their grapes, and uttered the usual shouts of joy, and carried offerings to the house of their god, and ate and drank, and cursed Abimelech.

⁸ having bound their garments with cords of rushes, they pitched their tents near the altar, and drank, in the house of their God, wine got by extortion.

¹⁴ I know and am fully assured by the Lord Jesus; that nothing is of itself unclean. But to him who thinketh any thing unclean, to him it is unclean.

²³ Now he who maketh distinctions is condemned if he eateth, because he eateth not with belief; and every thing which is not according to belief is a sin.

¹ Now with regard to the things offered to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. [This knowledge puffeth up; but love edifieth. ² If then any one thinketh that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

⁴ Therefore in respect to the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world: and that there is no other God but one.

⁷ But all have not this knowledge; and some, with the consciousness of regard for the idol, even to this time eat meat as sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.

²⁰ No. I only say, that what the nations sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God. Now, I would not have you to be partakers in the worship of the demons. ²¹ You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and of the table of demons.

²⁸ But if any one say to you, This was sacrificed to an idol, eat not of it for the sake of him who gave the information; and for conscience sake; for the earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof. ²⁹ When I say conscience I do not mean one's own, but the conscience of the other.

³² Conduct yourselves so as to give no offence to Jews or Greeks, or the congregation of God,
