⁵ Behold, I was shaped in iniquity; and in sin my mother conceived me.

²⁴ The LORD of hosts has sworn, saying, "Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:

²⁶ This is the purpose that is purposed on the whole earth: And this is the hand that is outstretched on all the nations. ²⁷ For the LORD of hosts has purposed, and who shall cancel it? And his hand is outstretched, and who shall turn it back?

⁹ The LORD of hosts has purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, and to bring all the honorable of the earth into contempt.

¹⁰ declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, 'My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure': ¹¹ Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executes My counsel from a far country: Yes, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.

²⁹ And the land shall tremble and sorrow: Forevery purpose of the LORD shall be performed against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without an inhabitant.

¹⁷ (as it is written, "I have made you a father of many nations,") in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God, who gives life to the dead, and calls those things which are not as though they were.

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. ²⁹ For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. ³⁰ Moreover, whom He predestined, these He also called: Whom He called, these He also justified: And whom He justified, these He also glorified.

⁵ Even so then, at this present time there is also a remnant according to the election of grace. ⁶ And if by grace, then it is no longer of works: Otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, then it is no longer grace: Otherwise work is no longer work. ⁷ What then? Israel has not obtained that which he seeks after; but the chosen have obtained it, and the rest were blinded.

⁴ Even as He has chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love: ⁵ Having predestined us to the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

⁹ having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He has purposed in Himself: ¹⁰ That in the dispensation of the fullness of times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in Him: ¹¹ In Whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things after the counsel of His own will:

³ Among whom we all also had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

⁹ Not of works, lest any man should boast.

¹¹ according to the eternal purpose which He fulfilled in Christ Jesus our Lord:

⁴ knowing, beloved brethren, your election by God.

¹² that you would walk worthy of God, who has called you into His kingdom and glory. ¹³ But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God has chosen you for salvation from the beginning through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: ¹⁴ Therefore He called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁹ Who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

⁵ not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit;

¹⁰ But the God of all grace, who has called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

¹⁰ Therefore better yet, brethren, be diligent to make your calling and election sure: For if you do these things, you shall never fall:

¹⁴ These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: For He is Lord of lords, and King of kings: And those that are with Him are called, and chosen, and faithful."
