²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: If any man hears My voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.

² I sleep, but my heart wakes: It is the voice of my beloved that knocks, saying, "Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: For my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night." ³ I have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? I have washed my feet; how shall I defile them? ⁴ My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my insides were moved for him.

³³ So you likewise, when you see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

³⁶ and liken yourselves to men that wait for their lord, when he shall return from the wedding; that when he comes and knocks, they may open to him immediately. ³⁷ Blessed are those servants, whom when the lord comes shall find watching: Truly I say to you, That he shall gird himself, and make them sit down to eat, and will come forth and serve them.

⁸ Rather, will he not say to him, 'Make ready a supper which I may eat, and gird yourself, and serve me, until I have eaten and drunk; and afterward you shall eat and drink'?
