⁵ All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor come on his head: Until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separates himself to the LORD, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow.

⁵ For lo, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: For the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb: And he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.

¹⁷ that he told her all his heart, and said to her, "A razor has not come upon my head; for I have been a Nazarite to God from my mother's womb: If I am shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man."

¹⁹ And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.

¹¹ And she vowed a vow, and said, "O, LORD of hosts, if You will indeed look upon the affliction of Your handmaid and remember me, and not forget Your handmaid, but will give to Your handmaid a manchild, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head."

⁷ Her Nazarites were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing was of sapphire: ⁸ Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: Their skin sticks to their bones; it is withered, it has become like a stick.

¹⁰ For this reason the woman ought to have a token of jurisdiction on her head because of the angels. ¹¹ Nevertheless, neither is the man without the woman, nor the woman without the man, in the Lord. ¹² For as the woman is from the man, even so the man also comes by the woman; but all things are from God. ¹³ Judge in yourselves: Is it proper that a woman pray to God uncovered? ¹⁴ Does not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man has long hair, it is a shame to him? ¹⁵ But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her: For her hair is given to her for a covering.
