³ (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were on the face of the earth).

¹⁰ Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: And the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased. ¹¹ And Moses said to the LORD, Why have you afflicted your servant? And why have I not found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of all this people on me? ¹² Have I conceived all this people? Have I begotten them, that you should say to me, Carry them in your bosom, as a nursing father bears the sucking child, to the land which you swore to their fathers? ¹³ From where should I have flesh to give to all this people? For they weep to me, saying, "Give us flesh, that we may eat. ¹⁴ I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me. ¹⁵ And if you deal thus with me, kill me, I implore you, out of hand, if I have found favor in your sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.

¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said to them, "Hear now, you rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? ¹¹ And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: And the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. ¹² And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, Because you believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

³² They also angered Him at the waters of strife, so that it went badly with Moses for their sakes: ³³ Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spoke unadvisedly with his lips.

⁶ The LORD lifts up the meek: He casts the wicked down to the ground.

⁴ For the LORD takes pleasure in His people: He will beautify the meek with salvation.

⁵ Blessed are the meek: For they shall inherit the earth.

²⁹ Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: And you shall find rest for your souls.

⁵ "Tell the daughter of Zion, 'Behold, your King comes to you, meek, and sitting upon a donkey, and a colt the foal of a donkey.' "

¹ Now I, Paul, myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you:

⁵ For I suppose I was not the least bit behind the very great chief apostles.

¹¹ I have become a fool in boasting; you have compelled me: For I ought to have been commended by you: For in nothing am I behind the very great chief apostles, though I am nothing.

⁷ But we were gentle among you, even as a nursing mother cherishes her children:

² For in many things we offend everyone. If any man does not offend in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. ³ Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn around their whole body.

¹³ Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

⁴ but let it be the hidden woman of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is of great value in the sight of God.
