¹ Now those that sealed were, Nehemiah, the Tirshatha, the son of Hachaliah, and Zidkijah, ² seraiah, Azariah, Jeremiah, ³ pashur, Amariah, Malchijah, ⁴ hattush, Shebaniah, Malluch, ⁵ harim, Meremoth, Obadiah, ⁶ daniel, Ginnethon, Baruch, ⁷ meshullam, Abijah, Mijamin, ⁸ maaziah, Bilgai, Shemaiah: These were the priests. ⁹ And the Levites: Both Jeshua the son of Azaniah, Binnui of the sons of Henadad, Kadmiel; ¹⁰ and their brothers, Shebaniah, Hodijah, Kelita, Pelaiah, Hanan, ¹¹ micha, Rehob, Hashabiah, ¹² zaccur, Sherebiah, Shebaniah, ¹³ hodijah, Bani, Beninu. ¹⁴ The chief of the people; Parosh, Pahathmoab, Elam, Zatthu, Bani, ¹⁵ bunni, Azgad, Bebai, ¹⁶ adonijah, Bigvai, Adin, ¹⁷ ater, Hizkijah, Azzur, ¹⁸ hodijah, Hashum, Bezai, ¹⁹ hariph, Anathoth, Nebai, ²⁰ magpiash, Meshullam, Hezir, ²¹ meshezabeel, Zadok, Jaddua, ²² pelatiah, Hanan, Anaiah, ²³ hoshea, Hananiah, Hashub, ²⁴ hallohesh, Pileha, Shobek, ²⁵ rehum, Hashabnah, Maaseiah, ²⁶ and Ahijah, Hanan, Anan, ²⁷ malluch, Harim, Baanah. ²⁸ And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all those that had separated themselves from the people of the lands to the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding; ²⁹ they joined to their brothers, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God's law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes; ³⁰ and that we would not give our daughters to the people of the land, not take their daughters for our sons: ³¹ And if the people of the land bring ware or any food on the Sabbath day to sell, that we would not buy it of them on the Sabbath, or on the holy day: And that we would leave the seventh year, and the exaction of every debt. ³² Also we made ordinances for us, to charge ourselves yearly with the third part of a shekel for the service of the house of our God; ³³ for the show-bread, and for the continual food offering, and for the continual burnt offering, of the Sabbaths, of the new moons, for the set feasts, and for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make an atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God. ³⁴ And we cast the lots among the priests, the Levites, and the people, for the wood offering, to bring it into the house of our God, after the houses of our fathers, at times appointed year by year, to burn on the altar of the LORD our God, as it is written in the law: ³⁵ And to bring the firstfruits of our ground, and the firstfruits of all fruit of all trees, year by year, to the house of the LORD: ³⁶ Also the firstborn of our sons, and of our domestic beasts, as it is written in the law, and the firstborn of our herds and of our flocks, to bring to the house of our God, to the priests that minister in the house of our God: ³⁷ And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, to the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground to the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage. ³⁸ And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: And the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes to the house of our God, to the chambers, into the treasure house. ³⁹ For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the grain, of the new wine, and the oil, to the chambers, where are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the porters, and the singers: And we will not forsake the house of our God.

⁶³ And the Tirshatha said to them, "that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim.

¹ The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. And it came to pass in the month Chisleu, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace,

⁷⁰ And some of the chief of the fathers gave to the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasure a thousand drams of gold, fifty basins, five hundred and thirty priests' garments.

⁹ And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said to all the people, This day is holy to the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.

³⁸ And because of all this we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, Levites, and priests, seal to it.

²³ After him repaired Benjamin and Hashub in front of their house. After him repaired Azariah the son of Maaseiah the son of Ananiah by his house.

¹¹ Seraiah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, was the ruler of the house of God.

¹ Now these are the priests and the Levites that went up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,

³³ and Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam, ³⁴ judah, and Benjamin, and Shemaiah, and Jeremiah,

¹¹ Malchijah the son of Harim, and Hashub the son of Pahathmoab, repaired the other piece, and the tower of the furnaces.

⁴ And Ezra the scribe stood on a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.

¹² And their brothers that did the work of the house were eight hundred twenty and two: And Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pelaliah, the son of Amzi, the son of Zechariah, the son of Pashur, the son of Malchiah.

⁶ Moreover the old gate repaired Jehoiada the son of Paseah, and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah; they laid its beams, and set up its doors, and its locks, and its bars.

¹⁷ of Abijah, Zichri; of Miniamin, of Moadiah, Piltai:

²⁵ Mattaniah, and Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, Akkub, were porters keeping the ward at the thresholds of the gates. ²⁶ These were in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor, and of Ezra the priest, the scribe. ²⁷ And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing, with cymbals, psalteries, and with harps. ²⁸ And the sons of the singers gathered themselves together, both out of the plain country all around Jerusalem, and from the villages of Netophathi; ²⁹ also from the house of Gilgal, and out of the fields of Geba and Azmaveth: For the singers had built them villages all around Jerusalem. ³⁰ And the priests and the Levites purified themselves, and purified the people, and the gates, and the wall. ³¹ Then I brought up the princes of Judah upon the wall, and appointed two great companies of those that gave thanks, whereof one went on the right hand upon the wall toward the dung gate: ³² And after them went Hoshaiah, and half of the princes of Judah, ³³ and Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam,

⁴¹ And the priests; Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Michaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with trumpets;

²¹ And of the sons of Harim; Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.

²⁹ After them repaired Zadok the son of Immer in front of his house. After him repaired also Shemaiah the son of Shechaniah, the keeper of the east gate.

¹⁸ Of Bilgah, Shammua; of Shemaiah, Jehonathan;

⁴² and Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Uzzi, and Jehohanan, and Malchijah, and Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sang loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer.

¹⁸ After him repaired their brothers, Bavai the son of Henadad, the ruler of the half part of Keilah. ¹⁹ And next to him repaired Ezer the son of Jeshua, the ruler of Mizpah, another piece in front of the going up to the armory at the turning of the wall.

²⁴ After him repaired Binnui the son of Henadad another piece, from the house of Azariah to the turning of the wall, even to the corner.

⁴³ The Levites: The children of Jeshua, of Kadmiel, and of the children of Hodevah, seventy and four.

⁷ Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: And the people stood in their place.

⁴ Then stood up on the stairs, of the Levites, Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani, and cried out with a loud voice to the LORD their God.

⁸ Moreover the Levites: Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, which was over the thanksgiving, he and his brothers.

²⁴ And the chief of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brothers in front of them, to praise and to give thanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God, ward in front of ward.

²³ Also of the Levites; Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (the same is Kelita), Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.

⁴ Then stood up on the stairs, of the Levites, Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani, and cried out with a loud voice to the LORD their God. ⁵ Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, "Stand up and bless the LORD your God forever and ever: And blessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.

¹⁹ and Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brothers and their sons, twenty;

²⁴ Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brothers with them,

¹⁵ Also of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hashub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni;

²² The overseer also of the Levites at Jerusalem was Uzzi the son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micha. Of the sons of Asaph, the singers were over the business of the house of God.

which took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name: ⁶² These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found: Therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood. ⁶³ And the Tirshatha said to them, "that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim. ⁶⁴ The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and three score, ⁶⁵ beside their servants and their maids, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred and thirty-seven: And there were among them two hundred singing men and singing women. ⁶⁶ Their horses were seven hundred thirty and six; their mules, two hundred forty and five; ⁶⁷ their camels, four hundred thirty and five; their donkeys, six thousand seven hundred and twenty. ⁶⁸ And some of the chief of the fathers, when they came to the house of the LORD which is at Jerusalem, offered freely for the house of God to set it up in his place: ⁶⁹ They gave after their ability to the treasure of the work three score and one thousand drams of gold, and five thousand pound of silver, and one hundred priests' garments. ⁷⁰ So the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, dwelled in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.

After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh. ²⁶ Moreover the Nethinims dwelled in Ophel, to the place in front of the water gate toward the east, and the tower that lies out. ²⁷ After them the Tekoites repaired another piece, in front of the great tower that lies out, even to the wall of Ophel. ²⁸ From above the horse gate repaired the priests, every one in front of his house. ²⁹ After them repaired Zadok the son of Immer in front of his house. After him repaired also Shemaiah the son of Shechaniah, the keeper of the east gate. ³⁰ After him repaired Hananiah the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, another piece. After him repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah in front of his chamber. ³¹ After him repaired Malchiah the goldsmith's son to the place of the Nethinims, and of the merchants, in front of the gate Miphkad, and to the going up of the corner. ³² And between the going up of the corner to the sheep gate repaired the goldsmiths and the merchants.

²⁴ But I have said to you, You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess it, a land that flows with milk and honey: I am the LORD your God, which have separated you from other people.

³⁶ The priests: The children of Jedaiah, of the house of Jeshua, nine hundred seventy and three. ³⁷ The children of Immer, a thousand fifty and two. ³⁸ The children of Pashur, a thousand two hundred forty and seven. ³⁹ The children of Harim, a thousand and seventeen. ⁴⁰ The Levites: The children of Jeshua and Kadmiel, of the children of Hodaviah, seventy and four. ⁴¹ The singers: The children of Asaph, a hundred twenty and eight. ⁴² The children of the porters: The children of Shallum, the children of Ater, the children of Talmon, the children of Akkub, the children of Hatita, the children of Shobai, in all a hundred thirty and nine. ⁴³ The Nethinims: The children of Ziha, the children of Hasupha, the children of Tabbaoth, ⁴⁴ the children of Keros, the children of Siaha, the children of Padon, ⁴⁵ the children of Lebanah, the children of Hagabah, the children of Akkub, ⁴⁶ the children of Hagab, the children of Shalmai, the children of Hanan, ⁴⁷ the children of Giddel, the children of Gahar, the children of Reaiah, ⁴⁸ the children of Rezin, the children of Nekoda, the children of Gazzam, ⁴⁹ the children of Uzza, the children of Paseah, the children of Besai, ⁵⁰ the children of Asnah, the children of Mehunim, the children of Nephusim, ⁵¹ the children of Bakbuk, the children of Hakupha, the children of Harhur, ⁵² the children of Bazluth, the children of Mehida, the children of Harsha, ⁵³ the children of Barkos, the children of Sisera, the children of Thamah, ⁵⁴ the children of Neziah, the children of Hatipha.

⁷⁰ So the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, dwelled in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.

¹ Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, "The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. ² For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: So that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: Yes, the hand of the princes and rulers has been chief in this trespass.

¹¹ Now therefore make confession to the LORD God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: And separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives. ¹² Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As you have said, "so must we do. ¹³ But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand outside, neither is this a work of one day or two: For we are many that have transgressed in this thing. ¹⁴ Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and its judges, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us. ¹⁵ Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: And Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them. ¹⁶ And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down on the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter. ¹⁷ And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month. ¹⁸ And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: Namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brothers; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah. ¹⁹ And they gave their hands that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass.

² And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, on the first day of the seventh month.

² And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.

³ Now it came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated from Israel all the mixed multitude.

⁷ For God is the King of all the earth: Sing praises with understanding.

² Do not be rash with your mouth, and do not let your heart be hasty to utter anything before God: For God is in heaven, and you on earth: Therefore let your words be few.

² And you shall swear, 'The LORD lives', in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in Him, and in Him they shall glory."

¹ Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God,

¹⁴ Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers: For what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion has light with darkness? ¹⁵ And what agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what part has he that believes with an infidel? ¹⁶ And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God; as God has said: "I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people." ¹⁷ Therefore "Come out from among them, and be separate, says the Lord, and do not touch the unclean thing; and I will receive you",

¹ And Moses called all Israel, and said to them, "Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that you may learn them, and keep, and do them.

³² You shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God has commanded you: You shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

¹⁵ cursed be the man that makes any graven or molten image, an abomination to the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and puts it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, "Amen. ¹⁶ Cursed be he that sets light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, "Amen. ¹⁷ Cursed be he that removes his neighbor's landmark. And all the people shall say, "Amen. ¹⁸ Cursed be he that makes the blind to wander out of the way. And all the people shall say, "Amen. ¹⁹ Cursed be he that perverts the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, "Amen. ²⁰ Cursed be he that lies with his father's wife; because he uncovers his father's skirt. And all the people shall say, "Amen. ²¹ Cursed be he that lies with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, "Amen. ²² Cursed be he that lies with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, "Amen. ²³ Cursed be he that lies with his mother-in-law. And all the people shall say, "Amen. ²⁴ Cursed be he that smites his neighbor secretly. And all the people shall say, "Amen. ²⁵ Cursed be he that takes reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, "Amen. ²⁶ Cursed be he that confirms not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, "Amen.

¹² That you should enter into covenant with the LORD your God, and into his oath, which the LORD your God makes with you this day: ¹³ That he may establish you today for a people to himself, and that he may be to you a God, as he has said to you, and as he has sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. ¹⁴ Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;

⁴ Moses commanded us a law, even the inheritance of the congregation of Jacob.

³¹ But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: For he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin.

³ And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people took a stand for the covenant.

¹⁶ Now therefore, O LORD God of Israel, keep with your servant David my father that which you have promised him, saying, "There shall not fail you a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; yet so that your children take heed to their way to walk in My law, as you have walked before me.

¹³ that whoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. ¹⁴ And they swore to the LORD with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.

³¹ And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book.

¹² Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as you say. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise. ¹³ Also I shook my lap, and said, "So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labor, that performs not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, "Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.

²⁵ And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, "You shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor take their daughters to your sons, or for yourselves.

⁴⁵ that they might observe His statutes, and keep His laws. Praise the LORD.

¹⁰⁶ I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep Your righteous judgments.

¹ For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: And the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall join to the house of Jacob.

⁴ And you shall say to them, 'Thus says the LORD; "If you will not listen to Me, to walk in My law, which I have set before you,

²⁷ And I will put My spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall keep My judgments, and do them.

⁴ "Remember the law of Moses My servant, all of you, which I commanded to him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

¹⁹ Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you go about to kill Me?"

¹⁴ You are My friends, if you do whatever I command you.

²³ Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave to the Lord.

³⁴ Nevertheless, certain men united with him, and believed: Among them was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

¹² And when it was day, certain ones of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul. ¹³ Now there were more than forty who had committed to this conspiracy. ¹⁴ And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, "We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul. ¹⁵ Now you, therefore, together with the council, signify to the chief captain that he bring him down to you tomorrow, as though you would inquire something more perfectly concerning him: And we are ready to kill him whenever he comes near."

²¹ But do not yield to them: For more than forty men lie in wait for him, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink until they have killed him: And now they are ready, awaiting a promise from you."

⁹ Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

¹¹ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, ¹² teaching us that through denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; ¹³ looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ; ¹⁴ who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

¹⁶ and you take of their daughters to your sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make your sons go a whoring after their gods.

³ Neither shall you make marriages with them; your daughter you shall not give to his son, nor his daughter shall you take to your son.

¹⁰ And Ezra the priest stood up, and said to them, "You have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel. ¹¹ Now therefore make confession to the LORD God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: And separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives. ¹² Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As you have said, "so must we do.

¹⁶ And on the first day there shall be a holy convocation, and on the seventh day there shall be a holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, except that which every man must eat, that only may be done by you.

¹⁰ But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God: In it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your domestic beasts, nor your stranger that is within your gates:

¹⁰ And six years you shall sow your land, and shall gather in its fruits: ¹¹ But the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie still; that the poor of your people may eat: And what they leave the wild beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner you shall deal with your vineyard, and with your olive grove.

²⁹ And this shall be a statute forever to you: That in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourns among you:

³ Six days shall work be done: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, a holy convocation; you shall do no work in it: It is the Sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

²¹ And you shall proclaim on the same day, that it may be a holy convocation to you: You shall do no servile work in it: It shall be a statute forever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.

³⁵ On the first day shall be a holy convocation: You shall do no servile work in it. ³⁶ Seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD: On the eighth day shall be a holy convocation to you; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD: It is a solemn assembly; and you shall do no servile work in it.

¹ And the LORD spoke to Moses in Mount Sinai, saying, ² speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, When you come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a Sabbath to the LORD. ³ Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard, and gather in its fruit; ⁴ but in the seventh year shall be a Sabbath of rest to the land, a Sabbath for the LORD: You shall neither sow your field, nor prune your vineyard. ⁵ That which grows of its own accord of your harvest you shall not reap, neither gather the grapes of your vine undressed: For it is a year of rest to the land. ⁶ And the Sabbath of the land shall be meat for you; for you, and for your servant, and for your maid, and for your hired servant, and for your stranger that sojourns with you. ⁷ And for your domestic beasts, and for the beast that are in your land, shall all its increase be meat.

¹² Keep the Sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD your God has commanded you. ¹³ Six days you shall labor, and do all your work: ¹⁴ But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God: In it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your domestic beasts, nor your stranger that is within your gates; that your manservant and your maidservant may rest as well as you.

¹ At the end of every seven years you shall make a release. ² And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lends ought to his neighbor shall release it; he shall not exact it of his neighbor, or of his brother; because it is called the LORD's release. ³ Of a foreigner you may exact it again: But that which is your with your brother your hand shall release;

⁷ If there be among you a poor man of one of your brothers within any of your gates in your land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your poor brother: ⁸ But you shall open your hand wide to him, and shall surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wants. ⁹ Beware that there be not a thought in your wicked heart, saying, "The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and your eye be evil against your poor brother, and you give him nothing; and he cry to the LORD against you, and it be sin to you.

²¹ To fulfill the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her Sabbaths: For as long as she lay desolate she kept Sabbath, to fulfill three score and ten years.

¹ And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brothers the Jews. ² For there were that said, "We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: Therefore we take up grain for them, that we may eat, and live. ³ Some also there were that said, "We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy grain, because of the dearth. ⁴ There were also that said, "We have borrowed money for the king's tribute, and that on our lands and vineyards. ⁵ Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brothers, our children as their children: And, see, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought to bondage already: Neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards. ⁶ And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words. ⁷ Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said to them, "You exact usury, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them. ⁸ And I said to them, "We after our ability have redeemed our brothers the Jews, which were sold to the heathen; and will you even sell your brothers? Or shall they be sold to us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer. ⁹ Also I said, "It is not good that you do: Ought you not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies? ¹⁰ I likewise, and my brothers, and my servants, might exact of them money and grain: I implore you, let us leave off this usury. ¹¹ Restore, I implore you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their olive groves, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the grain, the wine, and the oil, that you exact of them.

¹⁵ In those days saw I in Judah some treading winepresses on the Sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading donkeys; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day: And I testified against them in the day in which they sold food. ¹⁶ There dwelled men of Tyre also in it, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the Sabbath to the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem. ¹⁷ Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said to them, "What evil thing is this that you do, and profane the Sabbath day? ¹⁸ Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil on us, and on this city? Yet you bring more wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath. ¹⁹ And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the Sabbath: And some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the Sabbath day. ²⁰ So the merchants and sellers of all kind of ware lodged outside Jerusalem once or twice. ²¹ Then I testified against them, and said to them, "Why lodge you about the wall? If you do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the Sabbath. ²² And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the Sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of your mercy.

⁶ Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?

¹³ "If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on My holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honorable; and shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words: ¹⁴ Then you shall delight yourself in the LORD; and I will cause you to ride on the high places of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father: For the mouth of the LORD has spoken it."

²¹ Thus says the LORD; "Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the Sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem; ²² neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the Sabbath day, neither do any work, but hallow the Sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers." '

¹² And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

²⁷ Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. ²⁸ But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellow-servants, who owed him a hundred silver coins: And he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, 'Pay me what you owe!' ²⁹ Then his fellow-servant fell down at his feet, and implored him, saying, 'Have patience with me, and I will pay you all of it.' ³⁰ And he would not: But went and cast him into prison, until he should pay the debt. ³¹ So when his fellow-servants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told all that was done to their lord. ³² Then his lord, after he had called him, said to him, 'O you wicked servant; I forgave you all that debt because you desired me to: ³³ Should you not have also had compassion on your fellow-servant, even as I had pity on you?' ³⁴ And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors until he should pay all that was due to him. ³⁵ So likewise my heavenly Father shall also do to you, if each one of you do not forgive from your hearts his brother their trespasses."

¹⁶ Therefore let no man judge you in food, or in drink, or in respect to a holy-day, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days:

¹³ For he that has shown no mercy shall have judgment without mercy; and mercy rejoices against judgment.

²² And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: And out of all that You shall give me I will surely give the tenth to You."

¹¹ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ¹² "When you take the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then they shall give every man a ransom for his soul to the LORD, when you number them; that there be no plague among them, when you number them.their number: In Hebrew, them that are to be numbered ¹³ They shall give this, everyone that passes among those that are numbered, half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary: (a shekel is twenty gerahs): A half shekel shall be the offering of the LORD.half a shekel of Jewish money equated to 1/10'th of an ounce of silver, or 1 shilling and 1.688 pence UK money; per Easton's Illustrated Bible Dictionary, Appendix VI. ¹⁴ Everyone that passes among those that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering to the LORD. ¹⁵ The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when they give an offering to the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls. ¹⁶ And you shall take the atonement money of the children of Israel, and shall appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; that it may be a memorial to the children of Israel before the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls."

⁹ Honor the LORD with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your increase:

²⁴ And when they had come to Capernaum, those who received tribute money came to Peter, and said, "Does not your Master pay tribute?" ²⁵ He said, "Yes." And when he had come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, "What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth take customs or tribute? From their own children, or from strangers?" ²⁶ Peter said to Him, "From strangers." Jesus said to him, "Then the children are free. ²⁷ Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go to the sea, and cast a hook, and take up the fish that first comes up; and when you have opened his mouth, you shall find a piece of money: Take that, and give it to them for Me and you."

¹² For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what a man has, and not according to what he does not have.

⁵ And you shall take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes of it: Two tenth deals shall be in one cake. ⁶ And you shall set them in two rows, six on a row, on the pure table before the LORD.

¹ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ² command the children of Israel, and say to them, My offering, and my bread for my sacrifices made by fire, for a sweet smell to me, shall you observe to offer to me in their due season. ³ And you shall say to them, This is the offering made by fire which you shall offer to the LORD; two lambs of the first year without spot day by day, for a continual burnt offering. ⁴ The one lamb shall you offer in the morning, and the other lamb shall you offer at sunset; ⁵ and a tenth part of an ephah of flour for a food offering, mingled with the fourth part of a hin of beaten oil. ⁶ It is a continual burnt offering, which was ordained in Mount Sinai for a sweet smell, a sacrifice made by fire to the LORD. ⁷ And the drink offering of it shall be the fourth part of a hin for the one lamb: In the holy place shall you cause the strong wine to be poured to the LORD for a drink offering. ⁸ And the other lamb shall you offer at sunset: As the food offering of the morning, and as the drink offering of it, you shall offer it, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet smell to the LORD. ⁹ And on the Sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for a food offering, mingled with oil, and the drink offering of it: ¹⁰ This is the burnt offering of every Sabbath, beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering. ¹¹ And in the beginnings of your months you shall offer a burnt offering to the LORD; two young bulls, and one ram, seven lambs of the first year without spot; ¹² and three tenth deals of flour for a food offering, mingled with oil, for one bull; and two tenth deals of flour for a food offering, mingled with oil, for one ram; ¹³ and a several tenth deal of flour mingled with oil for a food offering to one lamb; for a burnt offering of a sweet smell, a sacrifice made by fire to the LORD. ¹⁴ And their drink offerings shall be half a hin of wine to a bull, and the third part of a hin to a ram, and a fourth part of a hin to a lamb: This is the burnt offering of every month throughout the months of the year. ¹⁵ And one kid of the goats for a sin offering to the LORD shall be offered, beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering. ¹⁶ And on the fourteenth day of the first month is the Passover of the LORD. ¹⁷ And on the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: Seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten. ¹⁸ In the first day shall be a holy convocation; you shall do no manner of servile work in it: ¹⁹ But you shall offer a sacrifice made by fire for a burnt offering to the LORD; two young bulls, and one ram, and seven lambs of the first year: They shall be to you without blemish: ²⁰ And their food offering shall be of flour mingled with oil: Three tenth deals shall you offer for a bull, and two tenth deals for a ram; ²¹ A several tenth deal shall you offer for every lamb, throughout the seven lambs: ²² And one goat for a sin offering, to make an atonement for you. ²³ You shall offer these beside the burnt offering in the morning, which is for a continual burnt offering. ²⁴ After this manner you shall offer daily, throughout the seven days, the meat of the sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet smell to the LORD: It shall be offered beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering. ²⁵ And on the seventh day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall do no servile work. ²⁶ Also in the day of the firstfruits, when you bring a new food offering to the LORD, after your weeks be out, you shall have a holy convocation; you shall do no servile work: ²⁷ But you shall offer the burnt offering for a sweet smell to the LORD; two young bulls, one ram, seven lambs of the first year; ²⁸ and their food offering of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals to one bull, two tenth deals to one ram, ²⁹ A several tenth deal to one lamb, throughout the seven lambs;

⁴ Behold, I build a house to the name of the LORD my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual show-bread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the Sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God. This is an ordinance forever to Israel.

⁵ And he gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said to them, "Go out to the cities of Judah, and gather of all Israel money to repair the house of your God from year to year, and see that you hasten the matter. However, the Levites hastened it not. ⁶ And the king called for Jehoiada the chief, and said to him, "Why have you not required of the Levites to bring in out of Judah and out of Jerusalem the collection, according to the commandment of Moses the servant of the LORD, and of the congregation of Israel, for the tabernacle of witness? ⁷ For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, had broken up the house of God; and also all the dedicated things of the house of the LORD did they bestow on Baalim. ⁸ And at the king's commandment they made a chest, and set it outside at the gate of the house of the LORD. ⁹ And they made a proclamation through Judah and Jerusalem, to bring in to the LORD the collection that Moses the servant of God laid on Israel in the wilderness. ¹⁰ And all the princes and all the people rejoiced, and brought in, and cast into the chest, until they had made an end. ¹¹ Now it came to pass, that at what time the chest was brought to the king's office by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that there was much money, the king's scribe and the high priest's officer came and emptied the chest, and took it, and carried it to his place again. Thus they did day by day, and gathered money in abundance. ¹² And the king and Jehoiada gave it to such as did the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and hired masons and carpenters to repair the house of the LORD, and also such as worked iron and brass to mend the house of the LORD. ¹³ So the workmen worked, and the work was perfected by them, and they set the house of God in his state, and strengthened it. ¹⁴ And when they had finished it, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada, whereof were made vessels for the house of the LORD, even vessels to minister, and to offer with, and spoons, and vessels of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings in the house of the LORD continually all the days of Jehoiada.

¹¹ And every priest stands ministering daily and offering frequently the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

¹² And the fire on the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: And the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order on it; and he shall burn on it the fat of the peace offerings. ¹³ The fire shall ever be burning on the altar; it shall never go out.

²⁷ And Joshua made those that day hewers of wood and drawers of water for the congregation, and for the altar of the LORD, even to this day, in the place which he should choose.

⁵ Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for the governors of the sanctuary, and governors of the house of God, were of the sons of Eleazar, and of the sons of Ithamar.

⁷ Now the first lot came forth to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah,

⁸ And they cast lots, ward against ward, as well the small as the great, the teacher as the scholar. ⁹ Now the first lot came forth for Asaph to Joseph: The second to Gedaliah, who with his brothers and sons were twelve:

¹ And the rulers of the people dwelled at Jerusalem: The rest of the people also cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts to dwell in other cities.

³¹ and for the wood offering, at times appointed, and for the firstfruits. Remember me, O my God, for good.

¹⁸ The lot causes contentions to cease, and parts between the mighty.

¹⁶ And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor its beasts sufficient for a burnt offering.

³ But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again and again of sins made every year. ⁴ For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. ⁵ Therefore, when He comes into the world, He says, "You would not like sacrifice and offering, but You have prepared Me a body: ⁶ In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. ⁷ Then I said, 'Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of Me) to do Your will, O God.' "

¹⁹ The first of the firstfruits of your land you shall bring into the house of the LORD your God. You shall not boil a kid goat in his mother's milk."

²³ And when you shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then you shall count its fruit as uncircumcised: Three years shall it be as uncircumcised to you: It shall not be eaten of. ²⁴ But in the fourth year all its fruit shall be holy to praise the LORD with. ²⁵ And in the fifth year shall you eat of its fruit, that it may yield to you its increase: I am the LORD your God. ²⁶ You shall not eat anything with the blood: Neither shall you use enchantment, nor observe times.

² And your brothers also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, bring you with you, that they may be joined to you, and minister to you: But you and your sons with you shall minister before the tabernacle of witness.

¹² All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat, the firstfruits of them which they shall offer to the LORD, them I have given you.

² that you shall take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which you shall bring of your land that the LORD your God gives you, and shall put it in a basket, and shall go to the place which the LORD your God shall choose to place his name there.

³ He appointed also the king's portion of his substance for the burnt offerings, to wit, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the Sabbaths, and for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is written in the law of the LORD. ⁴ Moreover he commanded the people that dwelled in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might be encouraged in the law of the LORD. ⁵ And as soon as the commandment came abroad, the children of Israel brought in abundance the firstfruits of grain, wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field; and the tithe of all things brought they in abundantly. ⁶ And concerning the children of Israel and Judah, that dwelled in the cities of Judah, they also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of holy things which were consecrated to the LORD their God, and laid them by heaps. ⁷ In the third month they began to lay the foundation of the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month. ⁸ And when Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD, and his people Israel. ⁹ Then Hezekiah questioned with the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps. ¹⁰ And Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok answered him, and said, "Since the people began to bring the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat, and have left plenty: For the LORD has blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store.

⁹ Honor the LORD with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your increase: ¹⁰ So shall your barns be filled with plenty, and your presses shall burst out with new wine.

⁸ Will a man rob God? Yet you all have robbed Me. But you all say, 'In what have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings. ⁹ You all are cursed with a curse: For you all have robbed Me, even this whole nation. ¹⁰ Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, all of you, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now with this", says the LORD of hosts, "if I will not open to you the windows of heaven, and pour out a blessing upon you, such that there shall not be room enough to receive it. ¹¹ And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the harvest time in the field", says the LORD of hosts. ¹² "And all nations shall call you blessed: For you all shall be a delightsome land", says the LORD of hosts.

² "Sanctify to Me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: It is Mine."

¹² that you shall set apart to the LORD all that opens the womb, and every firstling that comes of a beast which you have; the males shall be the LORD's. ¹³ And every firstling of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break his neck: And all the firstborn of man among your children you shall redeem. ¹⁴ And it shall be when your son asks you in time to come, saying, 'What is this?' That you shall say to him, 'By strength of hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage: ¹⁵ And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: Therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that opens the womb, being males; but I redeem all the firstborn of my children.'

¹⁹ All that opens the womb is Mine; and every firstling among your domestic beasts, whether ox or sheep, that is male.sheep; or, kid goat

²⁶ Only the firstling of the beasts, which should be the LORD's firstling, no man shall sanctify it; whether it be ox, or sheep: It is the LORD's. ²⁷ And if it be of an unclean beast, then he shall redeem it according to your estimation, and shall add a fifth part of it thereto: Or if it be not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to your estimation.

⁹ This shall be your of the most holy things, reserved from the fire: Every oblation of theirs, every food offering of theirs, and every sin offering of theirs, and every trespass offering of theirs which they shall render to me, shall be most holy for you and for your sons. ¹⁰ In the most holy place shall you eat it; every male shall eat it: It shall be holy to you. ¹¹ And this is yours; the heave offering of their gift, with all the wave offerings of the children of Israel: I have given them to you, and to your sons and to your daughters with you, by a statute forever: Everyone that is clean in your house shall eat of it. ¹² All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat, the firstfruits of them which they shall offer to the LORD, them I have given you. ¹³ And whatever is first ripe in the land, which they shall bring to the LORD, shall be yours; everyone that is clean in your house shall eat of it. ¹⁴ Every thing devoted in Israel shall be yours. ¹⁵ Every thing that opens the womb in all flesh, which they bring to the LORD, whether it be of men or beasts, shall be yours: Nevertheless the firstborn of man shall you surely redeem, and the firstling of unclean beasts shall you redeem. ¹⁶ And those that are to be redeemed from a month old shall you redeem, according to your estimation, for the money of five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, which is twenty gerahs. ¹⁷ But the firstling of a cow, or the firstling of a sheep, or the firstling of a goat, you shall not redeem; they are holy: You shall sprinkle their blood on the altar, and shall burn their fat for an offering made by fire, for a sweet smell to the LORD. ¹⁸ And the flesh of them shall be yours, as the wave breast and as the right shoulder are yours. ¹⁹ All the heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer to the LORD, I have given you, and your sons and your daughters with you, by a statute forever: It is a covenant of salt forever before the LORD to you and to your seed with you.

⁶ And thither you shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and of your flocks:

⁶ Or is it only I and Barnabas that do not have power to abstain from working? ⁷ Who ever goes to war at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard, and does not eat of its fruit? Or who feeds a flock, and does not eat of the milk of the flock? ⁸ Do I say these things as from a man? Or does not the law say the same also? ⁹ For it is written in the law of Moses, "You shall not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treads out the grain kernels." Does God take care in favor of oxen? ¹⁰ Or does He say it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: That he that plows should plow in hope; and he that threshes in hope should be a partaker of his hope. ¹¹ If we have sown to you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? ¹² If others are partakers of this power over you, are not we for better reason? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we hinder the gospel of Christ. ¹³ Do you not know that those who minister around holy things live from the things of the temple? And those who wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? ¹⁴ Even so the Lord has ordained that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel.

⁶ Let him that is taught in the word communicate to him that teaches in all good things.

¹⁷ You shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals; they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baked with leaven; they are the firstfruits to the LORD.

³⁰ And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD's: It is holy to the LORD. ³¹ And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part of it. ³² And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatever passes under the rod, the tenth shall be holy to the LORD. ³³ He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: And if he change it at all, then both it and its change shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.

¹⁹ then it shall be, that, when you eat of the bread of the land, you shall offer up a heave offering to the LORD. ²⁰ You shall offer up a cake of the first of your dough for a heave offering: As you do the heave offering of the threshing floor, so shall you heave it. ²¹ Of the first of your dough you shall give to the LORD a heave offering in your generations.

¹² All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat, the firstfruits of them which they shall offer to the LORD, them I have given you. ¹³ And whatever is first ripe in the land, which they shall bring to the LORD, shall be yours; everyone that is clean in your house shall eat of it.

²¹ And behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

²⁴ But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as a heave offering to the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: Therefore I have said to them, "Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance. ²⁵ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ²⁶ thus speak to the Levites, and say to them, When you take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then you shall offer up a heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe. ²⁷ And this your heave offering shall be reckoned to you, as though it were the grain of the threshing floor, and as the fullness of the winepress. ²⁸ Thus you also shall offer a heave offering to the LORD of all your tithes, which you receive of the children of Israel; and you shall give of it the LORD's heave offering to Aaron the priest. ²⁹ Out of all your gifts you shall offer every heave offering of the LORD, of all its best, even the hallowed part of it out of it. ³⁰ Therefore you shall say to them, When you have heaved its best from it, then it shall be counted to the Levites as the increase of the threshing floor, and as the increase of the winepress. ³¹ And you shall eat it in every place, you and your households: For it is your reward for your service in the tabernacle of the congregation. ³² And you shall bear no sin by reason of it, when you have heaved from it the best of it: Neither shall you pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest you die.

⁴ The first fruit also of your grain, of your wine, and of your oil, and the first of the fleece of your sheep, shall you give him.

⁵ And against the wall of the house he built chambers all around, against the walls of the house all around, both of the temple and of the oracle: And he made chambers all around: ⁶ The nethermost chamber was five cubits wide, and the middle was six cubits wide, and the third was seven cubits broad: For outside in the wall of the house he made narrowed rests all around, that the beams should not be fastened in the walls of the house. ⁷ And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: So that there was neither hammer nor ax nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building. ⁸ The door for the middle chamber was in the right side of the house: And they went up with winding stairs into the middle chamber, and out of the middle into the third. ⁹ So he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of cedar. ¹⁰ And then he built chambers against all the house, five cubits high: And they rested on the house with timber of cedar.

⁶ And concerning the children of Israel and Judah, that dwelled in the cities of Judah, they also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of holy things which were consecrated to the LORD their God, and laid them by heaps.

¹¹ Then Hezekiah commanded to prepare chambers in the house of the LORD; and they prepared them, ¹² and brought in the offerings and the tithes and the dedicated things faithfully: Over which Cononiah the Levite was ruler, and Shimei his brother was the next.

⁵ And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where formerly they laid the food offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be given to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the offerings of the priests.

⁹ Then I commanded, and they cleansed the chambers: And thither brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the food offering and the frankincense.

⁸ Will a man rob God? Yet you all have robbed Me. But you all say, 'In what have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings.

²⁶ For these Levites, the four chief porters, were in their set office, and were over the chambers and treasuries of the house of God.

¹² Then brought all Judah the tithe of the grain and the new wine and the oil to the treasuries. ¹³ And I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: And next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah: For they were counted faithful, and their office was to distribute to their brothers.

³⁰ Therefore you shall say to them, When you have heaved its best from it, then it shall be counted to the Levites as the increase of the threshing floor, and as the increase of the winepress.

⁶ And thither you shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and of your flocks: ⁷ And there you shall eat before the LORD your God, and you shall rejoice in all that you put your hand to, you and your households, in which the LORD your God has blessed you. ⁸ You shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatever is right in his own eyes. ⁹ For you are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God gives you. ¹⁰ But when you go over the Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God gives you to inherit, and when he gives you rest from all your enemies all around, so that you dwell in safety; ¹¹ then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall you bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which you vow to the LORD:

¹⁷ You may not eat within your gates the tithe of your grain, or of your wine, or of your oil, or the firstborn of your herds or of your flock, nor any of your vows which you vow, nor your freewill offerings, or heave offering of your hand:

²³ And you shall eat before the LORD your God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of your grain, of your wine, and of your oil, and the firstborn of your herds and of your flocks; that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always. ²⁴ And if the way be too long for you, so that you are not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from you, which the LORD your God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD your God has blessed you: ²⁵ Then you shall turn it into money, and bind up the money in your hand, and shall go to the place which the LORD your God shall choose: ²⁶ And you shall bestow that money for whatever your soul lusts after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatever your soul desires: And you shall eat there before the LORD your God, and you shall rejoice, you, and your household, ²⁷ and the Levite that is within your gates; you shall not forsake him; for he has no part nor inheritance with you.

¹² and brought in the offerings and the tithes and the dedicated things faithfully: Over which Cononiah the Levite was ruler, and Shimei his brother was the next.

¹⁰ And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them: For the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field. ¹¹ Then contended I with the rulers, and said, "Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place. ¹² Then brought all Judah the tithe of the grain and the new wine and the oil to the treasuries.

⁹ Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek your good.

²⁵ Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some; but exhorting one another: And so much the more, as you see the day approaching.
