¹³ But go and learn what this means: 'I will have mercy, and not sacrifice': For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

³ To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

⁶ All of you seek the LORD while He may be found, call on Him while He is near: ⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: And let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

⁶ For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

⁶ With what shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? ⁷ Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? ⁸ He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

² and saying, "Repent: For the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

⁸ Therefore bring forth fruits suitable for repentance:

¹⁷ From that time on Jesus began to preach, and to say, "Repent: For the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

²⁰ Then He began to reproach the cities where most of His mighty works were done, because they did not repent: ²¹ Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

³ But He said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him;

⁵ Or have you not read in the law, how on the Sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless?

⁷ But if you had known what this means, 'I will have mercy, and not sacrifice', you would not have condemned the guiltless.

¹⁰ Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I say to you that in heaven their angels always behold the face of My Father which is in heaven. ¹¹ For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost. ¹² What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine, and go into the mountains, and seek that which has gone astray? ¹³ And if it so happens that he finds it, truly I say to you, He rejoices more over that sheep, than over the ninety-nine which did not go astray.

⁴ And He answered and said to them, "Have you not read, that He which made them at the beginning 'made them male and female',

²⁸ But what do you think? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, 'Son, go work today in my vineyard.' ²⁹ He answered and said, 'I will not': But afterward he repented, and went. ³⁰ Then he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, 'I will go, sir': And did not go. ³¹ Which of those two did the will of his father?" They said to Him, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. ³² For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him: But the publicans and the harlots believed him: And you, when you had seen it, did not repent afterward, that you might believe him.

⁴² Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the scriptures: 'The stone which the builders rejected, the same has become the head of the corner: This is the LORD'S doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?

³¹ But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying, ³² 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."

¹⁷ When Jesus heard it, He said to them, "Those that are whole have no need of the physician, but those that are sick: I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

²⁶ And concerning the dead, that they rise: Have you not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spoke to him, saying, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'?

³² I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

²⁶ He said to him, "What is written in the law? How do you read it?"

³ And He spoke this parable to them, saying, ⁴ "What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he finds it? ⁵ And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. ⁶ And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.' ⁷ I say to you, That likewise more joy shall be in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine just persons, which need no repentance. ⁸ Or what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she loses one piece, does not light a candle, sweep the house, and seek it diligently until she finds it? ⁹ And when she has found it, she calls her friends and her neighbors together, saying, 'Rejoice with me; for I have found the silver piece which I lost.' ¹⁰ Likewise, I say to you, There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

¹⁰ For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."

⁴⁷ And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

³⁴ Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your law, 'I said, "You are gods" '?

³⁸ Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁹ Therefore repent, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord shall come;

³¹ God has exalted Him with His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

¹⁸ When they heard these things, they held their peace; and glorified God, saying, "Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life."

³⁰ Indeed, the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commands all men everywhere to repent: ³¹ Because He has appointed a day, in which He will judge the world in righteousness by that Man whom He has ordained; of which He has given assurance to all men, in that He has raised Him from the dead."

²¹ testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith that is in Me.' ¹⁹ "Given wholly to this, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision: ²⁰ But brought word first to those of Damascus, and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works worthy for repentance.

⁴ Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? ⁵ But according to your hardness and impenitent heart you treasure up for yourself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; ⁶ who "will render to every man according to his deeds":

¹⁰ as it is written, "There is none righteous, no, not one: ¹¹ There is none that understands; there is none that seeks after God. ¹² They have all gone out of the way, they have together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, no, not one." ¹³ "Their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they have used deceit"; "the poison of asps is under their lips": ¹⁴ "Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness": ¹⁵ "Their feet are swift to shed blood: ¹⁶ Destruction and misery are in their ways: ¹⁷ And they have not known the way of peace": ¹⁸ "There is no fear of God before their eyes." ¹⁹ Now we know that whatever things the law says, it says to those who are under the law: That every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. ²⁰ Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh shall be justified in His sight: For by the law is the knowledge of sin. ²¹ But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the prophets; ²² even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ to all and upon all those who believe: For there is no difference: ²³ For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ²⁴ being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

⁹ Do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And such were some of you: But you are washed, but you are sanctified, but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

¹³ who was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an injurious man: But I obtained mercy, because I did those things ignorantly in unbelief. ¹⁴ And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. ¹⁶ Nevertheless, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who should hereafter believe upon Him to life everlasting.

²⁵ in meekness instructing those that are in opposition; if God peradventure will give them repentance concerning the acknowledgment of the truth; ²⁶ and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

⁹ The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
