⁶⁶ And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led Him into their council, saying,

¹ Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? ² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against His anointed, saying, ³ "Let us break their bands apart, and cast away their cords from us."

²² But I say to you, That whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: And whoever shall say to his brother, 'You vain fellow' shall be in danger of the council: But whoever says, 'You fool', shall be in danger of hell fire.

¹ When the morning came, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put Him to death:

¹ Then in the morning without delay, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, carried Him away, and delivered Him to Pilate.

²⁸ Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the hall of judgment: And it was early; but they themselves did not go into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; that they might yet eat the Passover.

⁵ As also the high priest bears me witness, and all the presbytery of the elders: From whom I also received letters to the brethren, and went to Damascus to bring those which were there to Jerusalem in chains, to be punished.
