⁴⁰ If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary to me;

²¹ And if you walk contrary to me, and will not listen to me; I will bring seven times more plagues on you according to your sins.

²⁴ then will I also walk contrary to you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.

²⁷ And if you will not for all this listen to me, but walk contrary to me; ²⁸ then I will walk contrary to you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.

⁷ then they shall confess their sin which they have done: And he shall recompense his trespass with its principal, and add to it the fifth part of it, and give it to him against whom he has trespassed.

²⁹ But if from there you shall seek the LORD your God, you shall find him, if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. ³⁰ When you are in tribulation, and all these things are come on you, even in the latter days, if you turn to the LORD your God, and shall be obedient to his voice; ³¹ (For the LORD your God is a merciful God); he will not forsake you, neither destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which he swore to them.

¹ And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come on you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you shall call them to mind among all the nations, where the LORD your God has driven you, ² and shall return to the LORD your God, and shall obey his voice according to all that I command you this day, you and your children, with all your heart, and with all your soul; ³ that then the LORD your God will turn your captivity, and have compassion on you, and will return and gather you from all the nations, where the LORD your God has scattered you.

¹⁹ And Joshua said to Achan, "My son, give, I implore you, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession to him; and tell me now what you have done; hide it not from me.

³³ When your people Israel be smitten down before the enemy, because they have sinned against you, and shall turn again to you, and confess your name, and pray, and make supplication to you in this house: ³⁴ Then hear you in heaven, and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them again to the land which you gave to their fathers. ³⁵ When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against you; if they pray toward this place, and confess your name, and turn from their sin, when you afflict them: ³⁶ Then hear you in heaven, and forgive the sin of your servants, and of your people Israel, that you teach them the good way in which they should walk, and give rain on your land, which you have given to your people for an inheritance.

⁴⁷ yet if they shall bethink themselves in the land where they were carried captives, and repent, and make supplication to you in the land of those that carried them captives, saying, "We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness;

²⁷ He looks on men, and if any say, "I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not; ²⁸ he will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.

⁵ I acknowledged my sin to You, and I have not hid my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD"; and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

¹³ He that covers his sins shall not prosper: But whoever confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.

¹² Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, 'Return, you backsliding Israel', said the LORD; 'and I will not cause My anger to fall upon you: For I am merciful', said the LORD, 'and I will not keep anger forever. ¹³ Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against the LORD your God, and have scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed My voice', said the LORD. ¹⁴ 'Turn, O backsliding children', said the LORD; 'for I am married to you: And I will take one of you from a city, and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion: ¹⁵ And I will give you pastors according to My heart, who shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

¹⁸ I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself saying; 'You have chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bull unaccustomed to the yoke: Turn me, and I shall be turned; for you are the LORD My God. ¹⁹ Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote on my thigh: I was ashamed, yes, even confounded, because I bore the reproach of my youth.' ²⁰ Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a pleasant child? For since I spoke against him, I earnestly do remember him still: Therefore My bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy on him", said the LORD.

³¹ Then you shall remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

³ And I set my face toward the LORD God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: ⁴ And I prayed to the LORD my God and made my confession, and said, "O LORD, the great and frightful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to those who love Him, and to those who keep His commandments; ⁵ we have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and from Your judgments: ⁶ Neither have we hearkened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our princes, our rulers, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. ⁷ O LORD, righteousness belongs to You, but to us confusion of faces, as at this time; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries to which You have driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against You. ⁸ O Lord, to us belongs confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against You. ⁹ To the LORD our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against Him; ¹⁰ neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in His laws, which He set before us by His servants the prophets. ¹¹ Yes, all Israel has transgressed Your law, even by departing, that they might not obey Your voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against Him. ¹² And He has confirmed His words, which He spoke against us, and against our judges who judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: For under the whole heaven it has not been done as has been done upon Jerusalem. ¹³ As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil has come upon us: Yet we did not make our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand Your truth. ¹⁴ Therefore, the LORD has watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: For the LORD our God is righteous in all His works which He does: For we did not obey His voice. ¹⁵ And now, O LORD our God, that has brought Your people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and has brought Yourself renown, as it is this day: We have sinned, we have done wickedly. ¹⁶ O Lord, I beseech You, according to all Your righteousness, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain: Because of our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people have become a reproach to all those that are around us. ¹⁷ Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of Your servant, and his supplications, and cause Your face to shine upon Your sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake. ¹⁸ O my God, incline Your ear, and hear; open Your eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by Your name: For we do not present our supplications before You on account of our righteousnesses, but because of Your great mercies. ¹⁹ O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; Defer not, for Your own sake, O my God: For Your city and Your people are called by Your name." ²⁰ And while I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God;

¹⁵ I will go and return to My place, until they acknowledge their offense, and seek My face: In their affliction they will seek Me early."

¹⁸ I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before you, ¹⁹ and am no longer worthy to be called your son: Make me as one of your hired servants." '

⁸ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ¹⁰ If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
