²² And when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not make clean riddance of the corners of your field when you reap, neither shall you gather any gleaning of your harvest: You shall leave them to the poor, and to the stranger: I am the LORD your God.

¹¹ And you shall rejoice before the LORD your God, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite that is within your gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD your God has chosen to place his name there. ¹² And you shall remember that you were a bondman in Egypt: And you shall observe and do these statutes. ¹³ You shall observe the feast of tabernacles seven days, after that you have gathered in your grain and your wine: ¹⁴ And you shall rejoice in your feast, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within your gates.

¹⁹ When you cut down your harvest in your field, and have forgot a sheaf in the field, you shall not go again to fetch it: It shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: That the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. ²⁰ When you beat your olive tree, you shall not go over the boughs again: It shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow. ²¹ When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not glean it afterward: It shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

³ And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: And she happened to come upon a part of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech. ⁴ And behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said to the reapers, "The LORD be with you." And they answered him, "The LORD bless you." ⁵ Then Boaz said to his servant who was set over the reapers, "Whose young woman is this?" ⁶ And the servant who was set over the reapers answered and said, "It is the young Moabite woman who came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab: ⁷ And she said, 'I earnestly ask you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves': So she came, and has continued from the morning even until now, although she tarried a little in the house."

¹⁵ And when she had risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, "Let her glean even among the sheaves, and do not shame her. ¹⁶ And also let some of the handfuls fall on purpose for her, and leave them, so that she may glean them, and do not rebuke her." ¹⁷ And she gleaned in the field until the evening, and beat out what she had gleaned: And it was about an ephah of barley. ¹⁸ And she took it up, and went into the city: And her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned: And she brought it forth, and gave to her what she had left after she was satisfied. ¹⁹ And her mother-in-law said to her, "Where have you gleaned today? And where did you work? Blessed is he who took notice of you." And she told her mother-in-law with whom she had worked, and said, "The man's name with whom I worked today is Boaz." ²⁰ And Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, "Blessed is he of the LORD, who has not left off His kindness to the living and to the dead." And Naomi said to her, "The man is near of kin to us, one of our next kinsmen." ²¹ And Ruth the Moabitess said, "He said to me also, 'You shall keep close by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest.' " ²² And Naomi said to her daughter-in-law Ruth, "Good, my daughter. You go out with his maidens so that others do not meet you in any other field." ²³ So she kept close by the maidens of Boaz to glean until the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest. And she lived with her mother-in-law.

¹⁶ If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail; ¹⁷ or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless has not eaten of it; ¹⁸ (For from my youth he was brought up with me, as with a father, and I have guided her from my mother's womb); ¹⁹ If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering; ²⁰ if his loins have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep; ²¹ if I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate:

¹ To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Blessed is he that considers the poor: The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. ² The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: And You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. ³ The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: You will make all his bed in his sickness.

⁹ He has dispersed, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn shall be exalted with honor.

²⁴ There is that which scatters, and yet increases; and there is that which withholds more than is right, but it tends to poverty. ²⁵ The soul that blesses shall be made fat: And he that waters shall also be watered himself.

⁷ Is it not to deal your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor that are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you do not hide yourself from your own flesh? ⁸ Then your light shall break forth like the morning, and your health shall spring forth speedily: And your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the LORD shall be your rear-guard.

¹⁰ and if you draw out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then your light shall rise in obscurity, and your darkness be like the noon day:

⁴¹ But rather give alms of such things as you have; and behold, all things are clean to you.

⁵ Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go to you ahead of time, and compose beforehand your blessing of bounty, of which you had previous notice, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness. ⁶ But this I say, he which sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he which sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully. ⁷ Let every man give according to as he purposes in his heart; not grudgingly, nor of necessity: For God loves a cheerful giver. ⁸ And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: ⁹ (As it is written, "He has dispersed abroad; he has given to the poor: His righteousness remains forever." ¹⁰ Now He that ministers seed to the sower also ministers bread for your food, and multiplies your seed sown, and increases the fruits of your righteousness); ¹¹ being enriched in everything to all bountifulness, which causes thanksgiving to God through us. ¹² For the administration of this service not only supplies the lack of the saints, but also is abundant through many thanksgivings to God;
