³⁹ And the children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and dispossessed the Amorite which was in it. ⁴⁰ And Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh; and he dwelled in it.

¹³ And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, being the kingdom of Og, gave I to the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants. ¹⁴ Jair the son of Manasseh took all the country of Argob to the borders of Geshuri and Maachathi; and called them after his own name, Bashanhavothjair, to this day. ¹⁵ And I gave Gilead to Machir.

¹⁷ But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he has: For he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.

¹⁴ Out of Ephraim was there a root of them against Amalek; after you, Benjamin, among your people; out of Machir came down governors, and out of Zebulun those that handle the pen of the writer.

²³ And he took Geshur, and Aram, with the towns of Jair, from them, with Kenath, and its towns, even three score cities. All these belonged to the sons of Machir the father of Gilead.

² And they said, "The LORD commanded my lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel: And my lord was commanded by the LORD to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother to his daughters. ³ And if they be married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Israel, then shall their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe whereto they are received: So shall it be taken from the lot of our inheritance. ⁴ And when the jubilee of the children of Israel shall be, then shall their inheritance be put to the inheritance of the tribe whereto they are received: So shall their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers. ⁵ And Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of the LORD, saying, "The tribe of the sons of Joseph has said well. ⁶ This is the thing which the LORD does command concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, "Let them marry to whom they think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry. ⁷ So shall not the inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe: Forevery one of the children of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers. ⁸ And every daughter, that possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel, shall be wife to one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may enjoy every man the inheritance of his fathers. ⁹ Neither shall the inheritance remove from one tribe to another tribe; but every one of the tribes of the children of Israel shall keep himself to his own inheritance. ¹⁰ Even as the LORD commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad: ¹¹ For Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married to their father's brothers' sons:

²⁸ There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond-servant nor free, there is neither male nor female: For you are all one in Christ Jesus.

³⁰ But if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan. ³¹ And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, "As the LORD has said to your servants, so will we do. ³² We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, that the possession of our inheritance on this side of the Jordan may be ours. ³³ And Moses gave to them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and to half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, with its cities in the coasts, even the cities of the country all around. ³⁴ And the children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer, ³⁵ and Atroth, Shophan, and Jaazer, and Jogbehah, ³⁶ and Bethnimrah, and Bethharan, fenced cities: And folds for sheep. ³⁷ And the children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kirjathaim, ³⁸ and Nebo, and Baalmeon, (their names being changed), and Shibmah: And gave other names to the cities which they built. ³⁹ And the children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and dispossessed the Amorite which was in it. ⁴⁰ And Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh; and he dwelled in it. ⁴¹ And Jair the son of Manasseh went and took the small towns of it, and called them Havothjair. ⁴² And Nobah went and took Kenath, and its villages, and called it Nobah, after his own name.

²⁹ And Moses gave inheritance to the half tribe of Manasseh: And this was the possession of the half tribe of the children of Manasseh by their families. ³⁰ And their coast was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, three score cities: ³¹ And half Gilead, and Ashtaroth, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were pertaining to the children of Machir the son of Manasseh, even to the one half of the children of Machir by their families.

This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families.

⁷ And they appointed Kedesh in Galilee in Mount Naphtali, and Shechem in Mount Ephraim, and Kirjatharba, which is Hebron, in the mountain of Judah.

²¹ For they gave them Shechem with her suburbs in Mount Ephraim, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Gezer with her suburbs,

³² And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for a hundred pieces of silver: And it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.

⁷ Then Saul said to his servants, "Seek me a woman that has a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her." And his servants said to him, "Behold, there is a woman that has a familiar spirit at Endor."

¹⁰ And they put his armor in the house of Ashtaroth: And they fastened his body to the wall of Bethshan.

¹² all the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Bethshan, and came to Jabesh, and burnt them there.

²⁹ In his days Pharaohnechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: And king Josiah went against him; and Pharaohnechoh slew him at Megiddo, when he saw him. ³⁰ And his servants carried him dead in a chariot from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own sepulcher. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's stead.

⁷⁰ And out of the half tribe of Manasseh; Aner with her suburbs, and Bileam with her suburbs, for the family of the remnant of the sons of Kohath.

²⁹ And by the borders of the children of Manasseh, Bethshean and her towns, Taanach and her towns, Megiddo and her towns, Dor and her towns. In these dwelled the children of Joseph the son of Israel.

²² Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and did not hearken to the words of Necho from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo.

¹⁰ Who perished at Endor: They became as dung for the earth.

¹¹ In that day there shall be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.

²⁹ I will not drive them out from before you in one year; lest the land become desolate, and the wild beast of the field multiply against you. ³⁰ Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you are increased, and inherit the land. ³¹ And I will set your bounds from the Red sea even to the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert to the river: For I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and you shall drive them out before you. ³² You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. ³³ They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against Me: For if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.

⁵² then you shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places: ⁵³ And you shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell in it: For I have given you the land to possess it. ⁵⁴ And you shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: And to the more you shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer you shall give the less inheritance: Every man's inheritance shall be in the place where his lot falls; according to the tribes of your fathers you shall inherit. ⁵⁵ But if you will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which you let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land where you dwell. ⁵⁶ Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do to you, as I thought to do to them.

⁶³ As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.

¹⁰ And they drove not out the Canaanites that dwelled in Gezer: But the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites to this day, and serve under tribute.

¹² Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. ¹³ Neither yield your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin: But yield yourselves to God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. ¹⁴ For sin shall not have dominion over you: For you are not under the law, but under grace.

¹¹ And it shall be, if it make you answer of peace, and open to you, then it shall be, that all the people that are found in it shall be tributaries to you, and they shall serve you. ¹² And if it will make no peace with you, but will make war against you, then you shall besiege it: ¹³ And when the LORD your God has delivered it into your hands, you shall smite every male of it with the edge of the sword: ¹⁴ But the women, and the little ones, and the domestic beasts, and all that is in the city, even all its spoil, shall you take to yourself; and you shall eat the spoil of your enemies, which the LORD your God has given you. ¹⁵ Thus shall you do to all the cities which are very far off from you, which are not of the cities of these nations. ¹⁶ But of the cities of these people, which the LORD your God does give you for an inheritance, you shall save alive nothing that breathes: ¹⁷ But you shall utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD your God has commanded you: ¹⁸ That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done to their gods; so should you sin against the LORD your God.

²⁸ And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out.

³⁵ But the Amorites would dwell in Mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: Yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became tributaries.

¹ Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: But David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.

⁷ As for all the people that were left of the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which were not of Israel, ⁸ but of their children, who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel consumed not, them did Solomon make to pay tribute until this day.

¹⁰ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

¹⁸ But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever. Amen.

¹⁹ And his father refused, and said, "I know it, my son, I know it: He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: But truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations."

²² Moreover, I have given to you one portion above your brothers, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow."

²² Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall: ²³ The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him: ²⁴ But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from there comes the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel): ²⁵ Even by the God of your father, Who shall help you; and by the Almighty, Who shall bless you with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies below, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb: ²⁶ The blessings of your father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors to the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: They shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brothers.

³⁴ These are the families of Manasseh, and those that were numbered of them, fifty and two thousand and seven hundred. ³⁵ These are the sons of Ephraim after their families: Of Shuthelah, the family of the Shuthalhites: Of Becher, the family of the Bachrites: Of Tahan, the family of the Tahanites. ³⁶ And these are the sons of Shuthelah: Of Eran, the family of the Eranites. ³⁷ These are the families of the sons of Ephraim according to those that were numbered of them, thirty and two thousand and five hundred. These are the sons of Joseph after their families.

¹³ And of Joseph he said, "Blessed of the LORD be his land, for the precious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that coucheth beneath, ¹⁴ and for the precious fruits brought forth by the sun, and for the precious things put forth by the moon, ¹⁵ and for the chief things of the ancient mountains, and for the precious things of the lasting hills, ¹⁶ and for the precious things of the earth and fullness of it, and for the good will of him that dwelled in the bush: Let the blessing come on the head of Joseph, and on the top of the head of him that was separated from his brothers. ¹⁷ His glory is like the firstling of his bull, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: With them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: And they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.

⁷ And there was a strife between the herdsmen of Abram's domestic beasts and the herdsmen of Lot's domestic beasts: And the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled in the land at that time.

⁵ And in the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer came, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emins in Shaveh Kiriathaim,

²⁰ and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,

² And I will send an angel before you; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:

¹⁸ The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

¹ Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, "The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.

⁴⁸ But he that did not know, and committed things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with a few stripes. For to whomever much is given, from him much shall be required: And to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask all the more.

¹¹ And Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher Bethshean and her towns, and Ibleam and her towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Endor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and her towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns, even three countries.

¹⁸ But the mountain shall be yours; for it is a wood, and you shall cut it down: And the outgoings of it shall be yours: For you shall drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.

¹⁸ And their border was toward Jezreel, and Chesulloth, and Shunem,

¹⁹ And the LORD was with Judah; and he drove out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.

³ And the children of Israel cried out to the LORD: For he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.

¹³ And Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth of the Gentiles to the river of Kishon.

³³ Then all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the children of the east were gathered together, and went over, and pitched in the valley of Jezreel.

¹² Baana the son of Ahilud; to him pertained Taanach and Megiddo, and all Bethshean, which is by Zartanah beneath Jezreel, from Bethshean to Abelmeholah, even to the place that is beyond Jokneam:

⁴⁶ And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

¹ And it came to pass after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.

²³ And of Jezebel also spoke the LORD, saying, "The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.

¹⁰ And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled.

³⁷ And the carcass of Jezebel shall be as dung on the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; so that they shall not say, "This is Jezebel.

⁴ And the LORD said to him, "Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause the kingdom of the house of Israel to cease. ⁵ And it shall come to pass on that day, that I will break the bow of Israel, in the valley of Jezreel."

⁶ And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of those that searched the land, rent their clothes: ⁷ And they spoke to all the company of the children of Israel, saying, "The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land. ⁸ If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which flows with milk and honey. ⁹ Only rebel not you against the LORD, neither fear you the people of the land; for they are bread for us: Their defense is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: Fear them not.

¹ When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses, and chariots, and a people more than you, be not afraid of them: For the LORD your God is with you, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt. ² And it shall be, when you have come near to the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak to the people, ³ and shall say to them, Hear, O Israel, you approach this day to battle against your enemies: Let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be you terrified because of them; ⁴ for the LORD your God is he that goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.

⁴ And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the seashore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many. ⁵ And when all these kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel. ⁶ And the LORD said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid because of them: For tomorrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: You shall hamstring their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

⁶ All the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon to Misrephothmaim, and all the Sidonians, them will I drive out from before the children of Israel: Only divide you it by lot to the Israelites for an inheritance, as I have commanded you.

⁹ And the border was drawn from the top of the hill to the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of Mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah, which is Kirjathjearim:

¹⁵ And Joshua answered them, If you be a great people, then get you up to the wood country, and cut down for yourself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if Mount Ephraim be too narrow for you. ¹⁶ And the children of Joseph said, "The hill is not enough for us: And all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Bethshean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.

¹ A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ² When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came on me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

¹⁰ Fear not; for I am with you: Be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yes, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness.' ¹¹ Behold, all they who were incensed against you shall be ashamed and confounded: They shall be as nothing; and those who strive with you shall perish. ¹² You shall seek them, and shall not find them, even they who contended with you: Those who war against you shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nothing. ¹³ For I the LORD your God will hold your right hand, saying to you, 'Fear not; I will help you. ¹⁴ Fear not, you worm Jacob, and you men of Israel; I will help you' ", said the LORD, and your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. ¹⁵ Behold, I will make you a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: You shall thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shall make the hills as chaff. ¹⁶ You shall fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: And you shall rejoice in the LORD, and shall glory in the Holy One of Israel.

¹² I, even I, am He who comforts you: Who are you, that you should be afraid of a man who shall die, and of the son of man who shall be made like grass; ¹³ and forget the LORD your maker, who has stretched forth heaven, and laid the foundations of the earth; and have feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? And where is the fury of the oppressor?

³¹ What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

³⁷ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.

⁶ So that we may boldly say, "The LORD is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me."
