2 hear my words, O you wise men; and give ear to me, you that have knowledge.
3 For the ear examines words, as the mouth tastes food.mouth: In Hebrew, palate

6 Should I lie against my right? My wound is incurable without transgression.
7 What man is like Job, who drinks up scorning like water?
8 Which goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men.
9 For he has said, "It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.
10 Therefore listen to me you men of understanding: Far be it from God, that He should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
11 For the work of a man shall he render to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.
12 Yes, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.

24 He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead.
25 Therefore he knows their works, and he overturns them in the night, so that they are destroyed.
26 He strikes them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
27 because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways:
28 So that they cause the cry of the poor to come to him, and he hears the cry of the afflicted.
29 When he gives quietness, who then can make trouble? And when he hides his face, who then can behold him? Whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:
30 That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared.
31 Surely it is meet to be said to God, "I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:
32 That which I see not teach you me: If I have done iniquity, I will do no more.
33 Should it be according to your mind? He will recompense it, whether you refuse, or whether you choose; and not I: Therefore speak what you know.
34 Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man listen to me.

12 And he exercises all the power of the first beast before him, and causes the earth and those that dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 And he does great wonders, so that he makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 and deceives those that dwell on the earth by means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to those who dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and lived.

33 However, you are just in all that is brought on us; for you have done right, but we have done wickedly:
34 Neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our fathers, kept your law, nor listened to your commandments and your testimonies, with which you did testify against them.
35 For they have not served you in their kingdom, and in your great goodness that you gave them, and in the large and fat land which you gave before them, neither turned they from their wicked works.
36 Behold, we are servants this day, and for the land that you gave to our fathers to eat its fruit and its good, behold, we are servants in it:
37 And it yields much increase to the kings whom you have set over us because of our sins: Also they have dominion over our bodies, and over our domestic beasts, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress.

7 O LORD, righteousness belongs to You, but to us confusion of faces, as at this time; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries to which You have driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against You.
8 O Lord, to us belongs confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against You.
9 To the LORD our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against Him;
10 neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in His laws, which He set before us by His servants the prophets.
11 Yes, all Israel has transgressed Your law, even by departing, that they might not obey Your voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against Him.
12 And He has confirmed His words, which He spoke against us, and against our judges who judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: For under the whole heaven it has not been done as has been done upon Jerusalem.
13 As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil has come upon us: Yet we did not make our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand Your truth.
14 Therefore, the LORD has watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: For the LORD our God is righteous in all His works which He does: For we did not obey His voice.
