⁷ My eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow.

⁸ And you have filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: And my leanness rising up in me bears witness to my face.

¹⁶ My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death;

⁷ My eye is consumed because of grief; it waxes old because of all my enemies.

⁹ Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: My eye is consumed with grief, yes, my soul and my belly. ¹⁰ For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: My strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones are consumed.

²³ I am gone like the shadow when it declines: I am tossed up and down as the locust.

¹² For who knows what is good for man in this life, all the days of his vain life which he spends as a shadow? For who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?

¹⁷ For this our heart is faint; for these things our eyes are dim.
