⁶ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; "Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is in it, and whose scum has not gone out of it! Bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it.

¹⁶ So Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken: ¹⁷ And he brought the family of Judah; and he took the family of the Zarhites: And he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man; and Zabdi was taken: ¹⁸ And he brought his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.

²² Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out those five kings to me out of the cave.

⁴⁰ Then he said to all Israel, "Be yourselves on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side." And the people said to Saul, "Do what seems good to you." ⁴¹ Therefore Saul said to the LORD God of Israel, "Give a perfect lot." And Saul and Jonathan were taken: But the people escaped. ⁴² And Saul said, "Cast lots between me and my son Jonathan." And Jonathan was taken.

² And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.

¹⁶ Moreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin with which he made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.

⁴ and also for the innocent blood that he shed: For he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.

²⁹ The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed by the fire; the founder melts in vain: For the wicked are not plucked away.

⁵ And to the others He said in my hearing, "Go after him through the city, and smite: Do not let your eye spare, neither have pity: ⁶ Utterly slay old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: But do not come near any man on whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary." Then they began at the elderly men who were before the house.

⁶ You have multiplied your slain in this city, and you have filled its streets with the slain." ⁷ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; "Your slain whom you have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron: But I will bring you forth out of the midst of it. ⁸ You have feared the sword; and I will bring a sword on you", said the Lord GOD. ⁹ "And I will bring you out of the midst of it, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you.

¹¹ This city shall not be your caldron, neither shall you be the flesh in the middle of it; but I will judge you in the border of Israel:

² "Now, you son of man, will you judge, will you judge the bloody city? Yes, you shall show her all her abominations.

⁶ Behold, the princes of Israel, everyone in you has used their power to shed blood. ⁷ In you they have set light by father and mother: In the midst of you they have dealt with the stranger by oppression: In you they have vexed the fatherless and the widow. ⁸ You have despised My holy things, and have profaned My Sabbaths. ⁹ In you are men who carry tales to shed blood: And in you they eat upon the mountains: In the midst of you they commit lewdness.

¹² In you they have taken gifts to shed blood; you have taken usury and increase, and you have greedily gained from your neighbors by extortion, and have forgotten Me", said the Lord GOD.

²⁷ Her princes in the middle of her are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.

³⁷ that they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bore to Me, to pass through the fire for them, to devour them. ³⁸ Moreover they have done this to Me: They have defiled My sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned My Sabbaths. ³⁹ For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into My sanctuary to profane it; and lo, thus they have done in the midst of My house. ⁴⁰ And furthermore, that you have sent for men to come from afar, to whom a messenger was sent; and lo, they came: For whom you did wash yourself, painted your eyes, and decked yourself with ornaments, ⁴¹ and sat on a stately bed, and a table prepared before it, whereupon you have set My incense and My oil. ⁴² And a voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: And with the men of the common sort were brought Sabeans from the wilderness, who put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns on their heads. ⁴³ Then I said to her that was old in adulteries, 'Will they now commit whoredoms with her, and she with them?' ⁴⁴ Yet they went in to her, as they go in to a woman who plays the harlot: So they went in to Aholah and to Aholibah, the lewd women. ⁴⁵ And the righteous men, they shall judge them after the manner of adulteresses, and after the manner of women who shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands."

⁹ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; "Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.

¹¹ Then set it empty on its coals, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed. ¹² She has wearied herself with lies, and her great scum has not gone forth out of her: Her scum shall be in the fire. ¹³ In your filthiness is lewdness: Because I have purged you, and you were not purged, you shall not be purged from your filthiness any more, until I have caused My fury to rest on you.

³ And they have cast lots for My people; and have given a boy for a harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.

¹¹ In the day that you stood on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried his forces away captive, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even you were as one of them.

⁷ And everyone said to his fellow associate, "Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us." So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah.

² The good man has perished out of the earth: And there is none upright among men: They all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man, his brother, with a net.good; or, godly, or, merciful

¹ Woe to the bloody city! It is all full of lies and robbery; the prey does not depart;

¹⁰ Yet she was carried away, she went into captivity: Her young children also were dashed in pieces at the head of all the streets: And they cast lots for her honorable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.

³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom you slew between the temple and the altar.

⁷ And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. ⁸ And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

⁶ And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: And when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

²⁴ And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth."
