¹ If one be found slain in the land which the LORD your God gives you to possess it, lying in the field, and it be not known who has slain him: ² Then your elders and your judges shall come forth, and they shall measure to the cities which are all around him that is slain: ³ And it shall be, that the city which is next to the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take a heifer, which has not been worked with, and which has not drawn in the yoke; ⁴ and the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer to a rough valley, which is neither eared nor sown, and shall strike off the heifer's neck there in the valley: ⁵ And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the LORD your God has chosen to minister to him, and to bless in the name of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried: ⁶ And all the elders of that city, that are next to the slain man, shall wash their hands over the heifer that is beheaded in the valley: ⁷ And they shall answer and say, "Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it. ⁸ Be merciful, O LORD, to Your people Israel, whom you have redeemed, and do not lay innocent blood to Your people of Israel's charge. And the blood shall be forgiven them. ⁹ So shall you put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when you shall do that which is right in the sight of the LORD. ¹⁰ When you go forth to war against your enemies, and the LORD your God has delivered them into your hands, and you have taken them captive, ¹¹ and see among the captives a beautiful woman, and have a desire to her, that you would have her to your wife; ¹² then you shall bring her home to your house, and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails; ¹³ and she shall put the clothing of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in your house, and mourn her father and her mother a full month: And after that you shall go in to her, and be her husband, and she shall be your wife. ¹⁴ And it shall be, if you have no delight in her, then you shall let her go where she will; but you shall not sell her at all for money, you shall not make merchandise of her, because you have humbled her. ¹⁵ If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have borne him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated: ¹⁶ Then it shall be, when he makes his sons to inherit that which he has, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, which is indeed the firstborn: ¹⁷ But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he has: For he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his. ¹⁸ If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not listen to them: ¹⁹ Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out to the elders of his city, and to the gate of his place; ²⁰ and they shall say to the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. ²¹ And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: So shall you put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear. ²² And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and you hang him on a tree: ²³ His body shall not remain all night on the tree, but you shall in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God); that your land be not defiled, which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance.

⁶ You shall destroy those that speak lies: The LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.

¹² When He makes inquisition for blood, He remembers them: He does not forget the cry of the humble.

¹⁷ A man that does violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man hold him up.

²¹ For, behold, the LORD comes out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: The earth also shall disclose her blood, and will no longer cover her slain.

⁴ Now when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, "No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped the sea, yet vengeance does not permit him to live."

¹⁸ Judges and officers shall you make you in all your gates, which the LORD your God gives you, throughout your tribes: And they shall judge the people with just judgment. ¹⁹ You shall not wrest judgment; you shall not respect persons, neither take a gift: For a gift does blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.

³ For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Do you then desire not to be afraid of the power? Do that which is good, and you shall have praise from the same: ⁴ For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain: For he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that does evil.

² this is the ordinance of the law which the LORD has commanded, saying, "Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring you a red heifer without spot, in which is no blemish, and on which never came yoke:

¹⁸ I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself saying; 'You have chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bull unaccustomed to the yoke: Turn me, and I shall be turned; for you are the LORD My God.

²⁸ Come to Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ²⁹ Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: And you shall find rest for your souls. ³⁰ For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light."

⁸ And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient to death, even the death of the cross.

²¹ For even to this you were called: Because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: ²² "Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth": ²³ Who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten; but committed Himself to Him that judges righteously: ²⁴ Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live on to righteousness: By whose stripes you were healed.

¹⁸ For Christ also has suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit:

²² And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ²³ speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, "On this wise you shall bless the children of Israel, saying to them, ²⁴ the LORD bless you, and keep you: ²⁵ The LORD make his face shine on you, and be gracious to you: ²⁶ The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace." ' ²⁷ And they shall put my name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.

⁸ At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister to Him, and to bless in His name, to this day.

⁸ If there arise a matter too hard for you in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within your gates: Then you shall arise, and get you up into the place which the LORD your God shall choose; ⁹ and you shall come to the priests the Levites, and to the judge that shall be in those days, and inquire; and they shall show you the sentence of judgment: ¹⁰ And you shall do according to the sentence, which they of that place which the LORD shall choose shall show you; and you shall observe to do according to all that they inform you: ¹¹ According to the sentence of the law which they shall teach you, and according to the judgment which they shall tell you, you shall do: You shall not decline from the sentence which they shall show you, to the right hand side, nor to the left. ¹² And the man that will do presumptuously, and will not listen to the priest that stands to minister there before the LORD your God, or to the judge, even that man shall die: And you shall put away the evil from Israel.

⁵ For the LORD your God has chosen him out of all your tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD, him and his sons forever.

¹⁷ then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days;

¹³ The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: And Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons forever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister to him, and to bless in His name forever.

⁷ For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: For he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.

³⁰ If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;

¹² Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults.

⁶ I will wash my hands in innocence: In such a manner I will compass Your altar, O LORD:

² Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

⁷ Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

¹⁴ Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, You are the God of my salvation: And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.

¹³ Truly I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence.

²² For though you wash yourself with nitre, and take much soap, yet your iniquity is marked before me", said the Lord GOD.

²⁴ When Pilate saw that he could prevail in nothing, but rather that a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this just Person: You see to it." ²⁵ Then all the people answered, and said, "His blood be on us, and on our children."

¹⁰ which stood only in foods and drinks, diverse washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

¹⁹ And the priest shall charge her by an oath, and say to the woman, If no man have lain with you, and if you have not gone aside to uncleanness with another instead of your husband, be you free from this bitter water that causes the curse: ²⁰ But if you have gone aside to another instead of your husband, and if you be defiled, and some man have lain with you beside your husband: ²¹ Then the priest shall charge the woman with an oath of cursing, and the priest shall say to the woman, The LORD make you a curse and an oath among your people, when the LORD does make your thigh to rot, and your belly to swell; ²² and this water that causes the curse shall go into your bowels, to make your belly to swell, and your thigh to rot: And the woman shall say, "Amen, amen. ²³ And the priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall blot them out with the bitter water: ²⁴ And he shall cause the woman to drink the bitter water that causes the curse: And the water that causes the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter. ²⁵ Then the priest shall take the jealousy offering out of the woman's hand, and shall wave the offering before the LORD, and offer it on the altar: ²⁶ And the priest shall take a handful of the offering, even its memorial, and burn it on the altar, and afterward shall cause the woman to drink the water. ²⁷ And when he has made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causes the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: And the woman shall be a curse among her people. ²⁸ And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.

⁸ The LORD has returned on you all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead you have reigned; and the LORD has delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son: And behold, you are taken in your mischief, because you are a bloody man.

²¹ For what pleasure has he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the middle? ²² Shall any teach God knowledge? Seeing he judges those that are high. ²³ One dies in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.

³¹ Who shall declare his way to his face? And who shall repay him what he has done? ³² Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb. ³³ The clods of the valley shall be sweet to him, and every man shall draw after him, as there are innumerable before him. ³⁴ How then comfort you me in vain, seeing in your answers there remains falsehood?

³ O LORD my God, If I have done this; if there is iniquity in my hands; ⁴ if I have rewarded evil to him that was at peace with me; (yes, I have delivered him who without cause is my enemy):

³³ So you shall not pollute the land in which you are: For blood it defiles the land: And the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed in it, but by the blood of him that shed it. ³⁴ Defile not therefore the land which you shall inhabit, in which I dwell: For I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel.

²⁸ And afterward when David heard it, he said, "I and my kingdom are guiltless before the LORD forever from the blood of Abner the son of Ner:

⁴ and also for the innocent blood that he shed: For he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.

¹⁵ But know for certain, that if you put me to death, you shall surely bring innocent blood on yourselves, and on this city, and on its inhabitants: For truly the LORD has sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears."

³ And they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: Their breasts were pressed there, and they bruised the teats of their virginity there.

²⁴ And they shall come against you with chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, who shall set against you buckler and shield and helmet on every side: And I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge you according to their judgments. ²⁵ And I will set My jealousy against you, and they shall deal furiously with you: They shall take away your nose and your ears; and your remnant shall fall by the sword: They shall take your sons and your daughters; and your residue shall be devoured by the fire.

¹⁴ Therefore they cried out to the LORD, and said, "We beseech you, O LORD, we beseech you, do not let us perish for this man's life, and do not lay upon us innocent blood: For you, O LORD, have done as it pleased you."

³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom you slew between the temple and the altar.

¹⁵ Who killed both the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they do not please God, and are contrary to all men: ¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to always fill up their sins: For the wrath has come upon them to the uttermost.

¹⁸ when you shall hearken to the voice of the LORD your God, to keep all his commandments which I command you this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD your God.

¹² Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him there, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die. ¹³ Your eye shall not pity him, but you shall put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with you.

³⁰ And the LORD said to Jehu, "Because you have done well in executing that which is right in my eyes, and have done to the house of Ahab according to all that was in my heart, your children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel. ³¹ But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: For he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin.

¹⁰ When you come near to a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace to it. ¹¹ And it shall be, if it make you answer of peace, and open to you, then it shall be, that all the people that are found in it shall be tributaries to you, and they shall serve you. ¹² And if it will make no peace with you, but will make war against you, then you shall besiege it: ¹³ And when the LORD your God has delivered it into your hands, you shall smite every male of it with the edge of the sword: ¹⁴ But the women, and the little ones, and the domestic beasts, and all that is in the city, even all its spoil, shall you take to yourself; and you shall eat the spoil of your enemies, which the LORD your God has given you. ¹⁵ Thus shall you do to all the cities which are very far off from you, which are not of the cities of these nations. ¹⁶ But of the cities of these people, which the LORD your God does give you for an inheritance, you shall save alive nothing that breathes:

⁴⁴ And the LORD gave them rest all around, according to all that he swore to their fathers: And there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.

² that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were fair; and they took themselves wives of all which they chose.

¹⁴ And it came to pass, that when Abram had come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair. ¹⁵ The princes of Pharaoh also saw her, and commended her before Pharaoh: And the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house.

³ And his soul cleaved to Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spoke kindly to the damsel.

⁸ And Hamor communed with them, saying, "The soul of my son Shechem longs for your daughter: I implore you, give her to him to wife.

¹⁸ But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

² And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, "I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: Now therefore get her for me to wife." ³ Then his father and his mother said to him, "Is there not a woman among the daughters of your brothers, or among all my people, that you go to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines?" And Samson said to his father, "Get her for me; for she pleases me well."

²⁵ Do not lust after her beauty in your heart; neither let her take you with her eyelids.

¹⁰ Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.

³⁰ Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: But a woman that fears the LORD, she shall be praised.

⁹ But it shall be on the seventh day, that he shall shave all his hair off his head and his beard and his eyebrows, even all his hair he shall shave off: And he shall wash his clothes, also he shall wash his flesh in water, and he shall be clean.

⁹ And if any man die very suddenly by him, and he has defiled the head of his consecration; then he shall shave his head in the day of his cleansing, on the seventh day shall he shave it.

⁶ For if the woman is not covered, let her also be shorn: But if it is a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

²² That you put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

¹⁰ Listen, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear; forget also your own people, and your father's house; ¹¹ so shall the King greatly desire Your beauty: For He is your Lord; and you worship Him.

²⁶ "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his father, mother, wife, children, brethren, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. ²⁷ And whoever does not bear his cross, and come after Me, cannot be My disciple.

² And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.

⁷ And if a man sells his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do. ⁸ If she does not please her master, who has betrothed her to himself, then he shall let her be redeemed: He shall have no power to sell her to a strange nation, seeing he has dealt deceitfully with her.does not please: In Hebrew, is evil in the eyes of ⁹ And if he has betrothed her to his son, he shall deal with her after the manner of daughters. ¹⁰ If he takes himself another wife; he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, and her duty of marriage. ¹¹ And if he does not do these three to her, then she shall go out free, without paying money.

¹⁹ and they shall amerce him in a hundred shekels of silver, and give them to the father of the damsel, because he has brought up an evil name on a virgin of Israel: And she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.

²⁴ then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he has humbled his neighbor's wife: So you shall put away evil from among you.

²⁹ then the man that lay with her shall give to the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he has humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

²⁴ Behold, here is my daughter a maiden, and his concubine; them I will bring out now, and humble you them, and do with them what seems good to you: But to this man do not so vile a thing.

¹⁸ And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, "I will serve you seven years for Rachel your younger daughter."

²⁰ And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed to him only a few days, for the love he had toward her.

³⁰ And he went in also to Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet another seven years. ³¹ And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated, He opened her womb: But Rachel was barren.

³³ And she conceived again, and bore a son; and said, "Because the LORD has heard that I was hated, He has therefore given me this son also": And she called his name Simeon.Simeon; that is, Hearing

⁴ And when it was time that Elkanah offered, he gave portions to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters. ⁵ But to Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: But the LORD had shut up her womb.

² For Judah prevailed above his brothers, and of him came the chief ruler; but the birthright was Joseph's):

¹⁰ Also Hosah, of the children of Merari, had sons; Simri the chief, (for though he was not the firstborn, yet his father made him the chief);

²⁹ For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

⁸ Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

¹⁶ lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright. ¹⁷ For you know how afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: For he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

⁵ And Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac. ⁶ But to the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he still lived, eastward, to the east country.

³¹ And Jacob said, "Sell me your birthright this day." ³² And Esau said, "Behold, I am at the point about to die: And what profit shall this birthright do to me?" ³³ And Jacob said, "Swear to me this day"; and he swore to him: And he sold his birthright to Jacob. ³⁴ Then Jacob gave Esau bread and soup of lentils; and he ate and drank, and rose up, and went his way: Thus Esau despised his birthright.

³ Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:

¹ Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but for as much as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: And the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright. ² For Judah prevailed above his brothers, and of him came the chief ruler; but the birthright was Joseph's):

³⁶ He also smote all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.

¹² Honor your father and your mother: That your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God gives you.

¹⁵ And he that smites his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.

¹⁷ And he that curses his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.curses; or, reviles

³ You shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep My Sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.

⁹ And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profanes her father: She shall be burnt with fire.

⁵ You shall also consider in your heart, that, as a man chastens his son, so the LORD your God chastens you.

¹⁶ Cursed be he that sets light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, "Amen.

¹⁴ I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:

⁸ My son, hear the instruction of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother:

²⁴ He that spares his rod hates his son: But he that loves him chastens him before long.

⁵ A fool despises his father's instruction: But he that regards reproof is prudent.

¹⁸ Chasten your son while there is hope, and do not let your soul spare because of his crying.

²⁰ Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

¹⁵ Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

¹³ Do not withhold correction from the child: For if you beat him with the rod, he shall not die. ¹⁴ You shall beat him with the rod, and shall deliver his soul from hell.

²⁴ Whoever robs his father or his mother, and says, "It is no transgression"; the same is the companion of a destroyer.

¹⁷ Correct your son, and he shall give you rest; yes, he shall give delight to your soul.

¹¹ There is a generation that curses their father, and does not bless their mother.

¹⁷ The eye that mocks at his father, and despises to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

² Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: For the LORD has spoken, "I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against Me.

⁵ Why should you be stricken any more? You will revolt more and more: The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

³ O LORD, are not your eyes upon the truth? You have stricken them, but they have not grieved; You have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: They have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

⁷ In you they have set light by father and mother: In the midst of you they have dealt with the stranger by oppression: In you they have vexed the fatherless and the widow.

¹³ In your filthiness is lewdness: Because I have purged you, and you were not purged, you shall not be purged from your filthiness any more, until I have caused My fury to rest on you.

¹¹ "I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and you were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: Yet you have not returned to Me", says the LORD. ¹² "Therefore thus I will do to you, O Israel: And because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel."

¹ Children, obey your parents in the Lord: For this is right. ² "Honor your father and mother"; (which is the first commandment with promise); ³ "that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth."

⁹ Furthermore, we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: Should we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live? ¹⁰ For they indeed chastened us for a few days according to their own pleasure; but He for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness. ¹¹ Now no chastening seems to be joyous in the present, but grievous: Nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those which are exercised by it.

¹⁸ Judges and officers shall you make you in all your gates, which the LORD your God gives you, throughout your tribes: And they shall judge the people with just judgment.

² Then your elders and your judges shall come forth, and they shall measure to the cities which are all around him that is slain:

⁷ And if the man like not to take his brother's wife, then let his brother's wife go up to the gate to the elders, and say, "My husband's brother refuses to raise up to his brother a name in Israel, he will not perform the duty of my husband's brother.

³ And it shall come to pass, that when anyone shall still prophesy even yet, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say to him, 'You shall not live; for you speak lies in the name of the LORD': And his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesies.

²⁶ He that injures his father by violence, and chases away his mother, is a son that causes shame, and brings reproach.

¹ Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: And whoever is deceived by it is not wise.

¹⁹ Hear, my son, and be wise, and guide your heart in the way. ²⁰ Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: ²¹ For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: And drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.

²⁹ Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has babbling? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? ³⁰ Those that tarry long at the wine; those that go to seek mixed wine. ³¹ Do not look upon the wine when it is red, when it gives his color in the cup, when it moves itself aright. ³² At the last it bites like a serpent, and stings like an adder. ³³ Your eyes shall behold strange women, and your heart shall utter perverse things. ³⁴ Yes, you shall be as he that lies down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lies upon the top of a mast. ³⁵ "They have stricken me", you shall say, "and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I did not feel it: When shall I awake? I will seek it yet again."

¹⁶ And he that blasphemes the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: As well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemes the name of the Lord, shall be put to death.

⁵ And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he has spoken to turn away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust you out of the way which the LORD your God commanded you to walk in. So shall you put the evil away from the midst of you.

¹⁰ And you shall stone him with stones, that he die; because he has sought to thrust you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. ¹¹ And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you.

⁵ Then you shall bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, to your gates, even that man or that woman, and shall stone them with stones, till they die.

¹⁹ then you shall do to him, as he had thought to have done to his brother: So shall you put the evil away from among you. ²⁰ And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall from now on commit no more any such evil among you.

²¹ Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: Because she has worked folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: So shall you put evil away from among you.

⁴ And the LORD said to Moses, "Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.

⁶ Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past.

²⁶ But to the damsel you shall do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: For as when a man rises against his neighbor, and slays him, even so is this matter:

²⁹ And the king of Ai he hanged on a tree until evening: And as soon as the sun was down, Joshua commanded that they should take his carcass down from the tree, and cast it at the entering of the gate of the city, and raise on it a great heap of stones, that remains to this day.

²⁶ And afterward Joshua smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: And they were hanging on the trees until the evening.

¹⁶ This thing that you have done is not good. As the LORD lives, you are worthy to die, because you have not kept your master, the LORD's anointed. And now see where the king's spear is, and the cup of water that was at his head."

¹² And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulcher of Abner in Hebron.

⁶ let seven men of his sons be delivered to us, and we will hang them up to the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD did choose. And the king said, "I will give them.

⁹ And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the LORD: And they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, on the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.

³¹ The Jews therefore, because it was the Preparation, that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath day, (for that Sabbath was a high day), implored Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. ³² Then the soldiers came, and broke the legs of the first, and of the other which were crucified with Him. ³³ But when they came to Jesus, and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs: ³⁴ But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. ³⁵ And he that saw it bares record, and his record is true: And he knows that he speaks truly, that you might believe. ³⁶ For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, "A bone of Him shall not be broken." ³⁷ And again another scripture says, "They shall look on Him whom they pierced." ³⁸ And after this Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, implored Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: And Pilate gave him permission. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.

²⁹ What I perceived was that he is accused over questions of their law, but had nothing charged against him worthy of death nor of chains.

¹¹ For if I am an offender, or have committed anything worthy of death, I do not refuse to die: But if there is nothing to these things of which they accuse me, no man may deliver me to them. I appeal to Caesar."

²⁵ But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself had appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.

³¹ And when they had gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, "This man does nothing worthy of death or of chains."

²⁵ And the land is defiled: Therefore I do visit its iniquity on it, and the land itself vomits out her inhabitants.

²⁶ Neither shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be a cursed thing like it: But you shall utterly detest it, and you shall utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

¹² Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: Neither will I be with you any more, except you destroy the accursed from among you.

²⁶ And afterward Joshua smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: And they were hanging on the trees until the evening. ²⁷ And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave in which they had been hid, and laid great stones in the cave's mouth, which remain until this very day.

³ For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

²¹ For He has made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

¹³ Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: For it is written, "Cursed is everyone that hangs on a tree":
