³ And Joab said to the king, Now the LORD your God add to the people, how many soever they be, a hundred times, and that the eyes of my lord the king may see it: But why does my lord the king delight in this thing?

¹¹ (The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as you are, and bless you, as he has promised you!)

¹² Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: And the LORD do that which seems him good.

³ And Joab answered, The LORD make his people a hundred times so many more as they be: But, my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? Why then does my lord require this thing? Why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel? ⁴ Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. Why Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.

¹⁴ The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children.

²⁸ In the multitude of people is the king's honor: But in the shortfall of people is the destruction of the prince.

⁵ Then you shall see, and flow together, and your heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted to you, the forces of the Gentiles shall come to you.
