¹⁰ And David's heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said to the LORD, I have sinned greatly in that I have done: And now, I beseech you, O LORD, take away the iniquity of your servant; for I have done very foolishly.

⁶ Do you thus requite the LORD, O foolish people and unwise? Is not he your father that has bought you? Has he not made you, and established you?

¹³ And Samuel said to Saul, "You have done foolishly: You have not kept the commandment of the LORD your God, which He commanded you: For the LORD would have now established your kingdom upon Israel forever.

⁵ And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.

²⁶ Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not on them in the days of Hezekiah.

²¹ And why do you not pardon my transgression, and take away my iniquity? For now shall I sleep in the dust; and you shall seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.

²⁷ He looks on men, and if any say, "I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not; ²⁸ he will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.

⁵ I acknowledged my sin to You, and I have not hid my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD"; and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

¹³ He that covers his sins shall not prosper: But whoever confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.

² Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: Say to Him, "Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: So will we render the calves of our lips.

⁸ Rejoice not against me, O my enemy: When I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light to me. ⁹ I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against Him, until He pleads my cause, and executes judgment for me: He will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold His righteousness.
