And when he died, he said, "The LORD look on it, and require it.

⁴ And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did. ⁵ And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: And as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.

³⁶ Nevertheless they flattered Him with their mouth, and they lied to Him with their tongues. ³⁷ For their heart was not right with Him, neither were they steadfast in His covenant.

¹² Then they believed His words; they sang His praise. ¹³ They soon forgot His works; they did not wait for His counsel:

¹³ Therefore the Lord said, "For as much as these people draw near Me with their mouths, and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the precept of men:

¹⁶ And likewise, these are they which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; ¹⁷ but have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time: Afterward, when affliction or persecution arises for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.
