¹³ And David said to Gad, "I am in a great strait: Let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great are his mercies: But let me not fall into the hand of man.

⁶ And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, "The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, ⁷ keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, to the third and to the fourth generation."

¹⁵ And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, a host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servants said to him, "Alas, my master! How shall we do?

⁴ If we say, "We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: And if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall to the host of the Syrians: If they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.

⁹ But a prophet of the LORD was there, whose name was Oded: And he went out before the host that came to Samaria, and said to them, "Behold, because the LORD God of your fathers was wroth with Judah, he has delivered them into your hand, and you have slain them in a rage that reaches up to heaven.

¹¹ "All the king's servants, and the people of the king's provinces, do know, that whoever, whether man or women, shall come to the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden scepter, that he may live: But I have not been called to come in to the king these thirty days."

¹⁶ "Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I and my maidens will also fast likewise; and so I will go in to the king, which is not according to the law: And if I perish, I perish."

⁷ But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy: And in Your fear I will worship toward Your holy temple.

¹ Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness: According to the multitude of your tender mercies blot out my transgressions. ² Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

¹³ But as for me, my prayer is to You, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of Your mercy hear me, in the truth of Your salvation.

¹⁶ Hear me, O LORD; for your lovingkindness is good: Turn to me according to the multitude of your tender mercies.

⁵ For You, LORD, are good, and ready to forgive; and abound in mercy to all those who call upon You.

¹⁵ But You, O LORD, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in mercy and truth.

⁸ The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in mercy.

⁷ Our fathers did not understand Your wonders in Egypt; they did not remember the multitude of Your mercies; but provoked Him at the sea, even at the Red Sea.

⁴ But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared.

⁷ Let Israel hope in the LORD: For with the LORD there is mercy, and with Him is plentiful redemption.

¹⁰ A righteous man regards the life of his beast: But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

⁷ They bear him on the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in his place, and he stands; from his place he shall not move: Yes, one shall cry to him, yet he cannot answer, nor save him out of his trouble.

⁶ I was angry with My people, I have polluted My inheritance, and given them into your hand: You showed them no mercy; upon the elderly you have laid your yoke very heavily.

⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: And let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

⁷ I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies, and according to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses.

¹⁵ Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of Your holiness and of Your glory: Where is Your zeal and Your strength, the sounding of Your bowels and of Your mercies toward me? Are they restrained?

³² But though He cause grief, yet He will have compassion according to the multitude of His mercies.

⁹ Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from His fierce anger, that we do not perish?"

² And he prayed to the LORD, and said, "I implore You, O LORD, was this not my concern, when I was still in my country? Therefore I fled beforehand to Tarshish: For I knew that You are a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and You repent of the evil.

¹⁸ Who is a God like You, that pardons iniquity, and passes by the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not maintain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy.

² O LORD, I have heard Your speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive Your work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.

²⁷ Now My soul is troubled; and what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour'? But for this reason I came to this hour.

²³ For I am in a difficult strait between two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

³¹ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
