¹¹ For which also we pray always for you, that our God will account you worthy of the calling, and accomplish all the good pleasure of [his] goodness and the work of faith with power;

^{13 (1:4)} But we ought to thank God always for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you to salvation by purification of spirit, and belief of the truth, ¹⁴ to which he called you by our gospel, to obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁹ who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his purpose and grace given us in Christ Jesus from eternity,

⁴ but when the goodness and philanthropy of the Saviour our God appeared, ⁵ not by works of righteousness which we did but according to his mercy he saved us through the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Spirit,

²¹ perfect you in every good work to do his will, doing in you that which is pleasing in his sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever; amen.
