⁴⁵ Then he opened their understanding to understand the Scriptures,

⁴ in whom the god of this life has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the likeness of God, may not shine. ⁵ For we preach not ourselves but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. ⁶ For God who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹⁴ Wherefore he says, Awake you that sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light.

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding that we may know the true One; and we are in the true One, in his Son Jesus Christ; this is the true God, and eternal life.
