¹⁴ And it came to pass, when the king of Ai saw it, that they hasted, and rose up early, and the men of the city came out to meet Israel for battle, he and all his people, at an appointed time, before the waste plain,––he not knowing that there was an ambush lying in wait for him, behind the city.

¹ These, are the words, which Moses spake unto all Israel, over the Jordan,––in the wilderness, in the waste plain over against Suph, between Paran and Tophel, and Laban and Hazeroth, and Di–zahab:

⁵ But, I, and all the people who are with me, will draw near unto the city,––and it shall be, when they come out to meet us, as at the first, then will we flee before them;

¹⁶ and all the people who were in the city were called out to pursue them,––and they pursued Joshua, and so were drawn out away from the city.

¹² For, indeed, man could not know his own time, like fishes which were caught in a cruel net, and like little birds which were caught in a trap,––like them, were ensnared the sons of men, by a time of misfortune, when it fell upon them suddenly.

¹¹ Surely, foolish, are the princes of Zoan, the wisest counselors of Pharaoh, in counsel, are brutish,––How can ye say unto Pharaoh, Son of the wise, am I, Son of the kings of olden time?

¹³ Doting, are the princes of Zoan, Deceived, are the princes of Noph: They who are the corner–stone of her tribes, have led Egypt astray.

³¹ While yet the word was in the mouth of the king, a voice, out of the heavens, fell,––Unto thee, is it said, O Nebuchadnezzar the king, The kingdom, hath departed from thee;

³⁹ And they observed not, until the flood came and took away all together, so, will be, the presence of the Son of Man.

⁵⁰ The master of that servant, will have come, on a day when he is not expecting, and in an hour when he is not observing,––

¹ But, concerning the times and the seasons, brethren,––ye have, no need, that, unto you, anything be written; ² For, ye yourselves, perfectly well know––that, the day of the Lord, as a thief in the night, so, cometh; ³ As soon as they begin to say––Peace! and safety! then, suddenly, upon them, cometh destruction,––just as the birth–throe unto her that is with child,––and in nowise shall they escape.

³ And, in greed, with forged words, will they, of you, make merchandise: for whom, the sentence from of old, is not idle, and, their destruction, doth not slumber.
