⁴ Mourneth, fadeth, the earth, Languisheth, fadeth, the world,––Languished, have the lofty of the people of the earth.

¹¹ The lofty looks of mean men, shall be humbled, And, the haughtiness of great men, shall be bowed down,––And Yahweh alone, shall be exalted, in that day. ¹² For, a day of Yahweh of hosts, [shall be]––Upon every one who is high and lofty,––And upon every one who is lifted up, And he shall be brought low;

²⁶ And her gates shall mourn and lament,––And, forsaken, on the ground, shall she sit.

¹ Alas! for the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim, And for his fading wreath of majestic beauty,––Which is on the head of the fertile valley, of them who are overcome with wine.

⁹ The land mourneth, languisheth, Lebanon, displayeth shame, is withered,––Sharon, hath become, as the waste plain, And Bashan and Carmel, are shaking off their leaves.

⁶ But we have become as one unclean, all of us, And, as a garment polluted, were all our righteous doings,––And so we faded like a leaf, all of us, And, our iniquity, as a wind, carried us away;

²⁸ For this cause, shall the land mourn, and the heavens above be overcast: Because I have spoken, have purposed, and have not repented, nor will I turn back therefrom.

⁴ How long, shall the land mourn, And, the herbage of the whole field, wither? For the wickedness of them that dwell therein, beast and bird, have perished, For, say they, He will not see our latter end!

³ For this cause, shall the land mourn, and everyone who dwelleth therein shall languish, with the wild beast of the field and with the bird of the heavens,––moreover also, the fishes of the sea, shall be withdrawn.
