²⁹ So that no flesh should boast before God.

⁶ As for them who are trusting in their wealth,––And, in the abundance of their riches, do boast themselves,

¹⁵ Shall the axe, boast itself, against him that heweth therewith? Or, the saw, magnify itself, against him that wieldeth it? As if a rod, could wield, them who lift it up! As if a staff, could raise, what is, not wood!

²³ Thus, saith Yahweh, Let not, the wise man, glory, in his wisdom, Neither let, the mighty man, glory, in his might,––Let not, the rich man, glory, in his riches;

¹⁹ Now we know that, whatsoever things the law saith, to them who are within the law, it speaketh, in order that, every mouth, may be stopped and all the world come, under penal sentence, unto God.

²⁷ Where, then, the boasting! It is excluded. Through what kind of law? Of works? Nay! but through a law of faith:

² For, if Abraham by works was declared righteous, he hath whereof to boast; ––nevertheless, not towards God,––

¹⁷ I have, therefore, [my] boasting in Christ Jesus in the things pertaining to God,––

³¹ In order that, even as it is written––He that boasteth, in the Lord, let him boast.

⁷ For who maketh thee to differ? and what hast thou which thou didst not receive? But, if thou didst even receive it, why dost thou boast, as though thou hadst not received it?

⁶ Unseemly, is your boast! Know ye not that, a little leaven, doth leaven, the whole of the lump?

⁹ Not from works, lest anyone should boast.
