¹⁹ He said to them, "What things?" They said to him, "The things about Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet powerful in deed and word before God and all the people —

¹¹ The crowds said, "This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth in Galilee."

²⁴ "What have you to do with us, Nazarene Jesus? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are — the Holy one of God."

¹⁶ All were awe-struck, and they gave praise to God, saying, "A great prophet has arisen among us and God has visited his people."

² This man came to Jesus one night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that you are doing unless God is with him."

¹⁹ The woman said to him, "Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.

¹⁴ Then the people, seeing the sign that he had done, said, "This is truly the prophet who was to come into the world!"

⁴⁰ Some from the crowd, on hearing these words, said, "This man is truly the prophet." ⁴¹ Others said, "This is the Christ." Others said, "The Christ is not coming out of Galilee, is he? ⁴² Does not the Scripture say that the Christ comes of the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?"

⁵² They answered him, "Can it be that you too are from Galilee? Examine and see that from Galilee no prophet arises."

²² Fellow Israelites, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene was a man proved to be sent to you from God by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through him in the midst of you, as you yourselves know.

²² Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was strong in words and in deeds.

³⁸ You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were harassed by the Devil, for God was with him.
