²⁸ Jesus, while teaching in the Temple courts, cried out loudly, "You know me and you know where I come from. I have not come of myself, but he is true who sent me. You do not know him,

²³ and settled in a town called Nazareth, so that what had been spoken through the prophets might be fulfilled, "He will be called a Nazarene."

²⁷ "All things have been delivered tome by my Father, and no one knows the Son but the Father, nor does any one know the Father but the Son and he to whom the Son may choose to reveal him.

⁴ Joseph went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judaea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,

¹¹ for there was born for you to-day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ and Lord.

³⁹ When they had completed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own city Nazareth.

¹⁴ Jesus answered them, "Even if I witness to myself, my witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going. You do not know where I came from or where I am going.

¹⁶ Even if I judge, my judgment is true, for I am not alone, but when I judge he who sent me is with me.

¹⁹ They said to him, "Where is your Father?" Jesus answered, "You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also."

²⁶ I have many things to say about you and to judge. But he who sent me is true, and what I have heard from him I speak in the world."

⁴² Jesus said to them, "If God were your father you would love me; for I came forth from God and am now here. For I have not come of myself, but he sent me.

⁵⁴ Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say that he is your God. ⁵⁵ Yet you do not know him, but I know him, and if I should say that I did not know him I should be a liar like you. But I know him and I keep his word.

³⁶ do you say to him whom the Father made holy and sent into the world, 'You speak profane words,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?

⁴⁹ But he who sent me — the Father himself — has given me a command what I am to say and what I am to speak,

¹⁰ Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I speak not of myself. The Father abides in me and does his works.

³¹ But that the world may know that I love the Father, even as the Father commanded me, so I am doing. Rise, let us go hence."

³ These things they will do because they have not known the Father nor me.

³ This is life eternal, to know thee, the only true God, and him whom thou hast sent, Jesus Christ.

²⁵ Righteous Father, the world did not know thee, but I knew thee, and these knew that thou didst send me.

²³ For in passing about and contemplating your sacred objects I came upon an altar on which was inscribed, 'To an unknown God.' What you are worshiping in ignorance — that I am making known to you.

²⁸ And as they did not think fit to keep God in their knowledge, God gave them over to an abandoned mind, to do the things that are shameful,

⁴ Never. Let God be true, but every man a liar, as it is written, "That thou mayest be proved right in thy words and triumph when thou art judged."

¹⁸ As God is faithful, my word to you is not yes and no.

⁶ Because it is the God who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," who has shone in our hearts bringing the light of the glorious knowledge of God in the face of Christ.

² in hope of life eternal, which the God who never lies promised ages ago

¹⁸ that by two unchangeable things, in which it was impossible for God to be false, we might have strong encouragement, we who have fled to lay hold on the hope that lies before us.

³ By this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commands. ⁴ He who says, "I know him," and does not keep his commands, is a liar and truth is not in him.

¹⁰ He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony within himself. He who does not believe God has made him a liar; because he has not believed the testimony which God has borne regarding his Son.
