⁴¹ Watch, and pray, that you may not enter into temptation: the spirit indeed is forward, but the flesh weak.'

³⁶ watch you, then, in every season, praying that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that are about to come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.'

¹⁸ for I have known that there does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh, good: for to will is present with me, and to work that which is right I do not find, ¹⁹ for the good that I will, I do not; but the evil that I do not will, this I practise. ²⁰ And if what I do not will, this I do, it is no longer I that work it, but the sin that is dwelling in me. ²¹ I find, then, the law, that when I desire to do what is right, with me the evil is present, ²² for I delight in the law of God according to the inward man, ²³ and I behold another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of the sin that is in my members. ²⁴ A wretched man I am! who shall deliver me out of the body of this death? ²⁵ I thank God -- through Jesus Christ our Lord; so then, I myself indeed with the mind do serve the law of God, and with the flesh, the law of sin.

³ for what the law was not able to do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, His own Son having sent in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, did condemn the sin in the flesh,

²⁷ but I chastise my body, and bring it into servitude, lest by any means, having preached to others -- I myself may become disapproved.

¹³ No temptation has taken you -- except human; and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what you are able, but He will make, with the temptation, also the outlet, for your being able to bear it.

¹³ Watch you, stand in the faith; be men, be strong;

¹⁶ And I say: In the Spirit walk you, and the desire of the flesh you may not complete; ¹⁷ for the flesh does desire contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit contrary to the flesh, and these are opposed one to another, that the things that you may will -- these you may not do;

²⁴ and those who are Christ's, the flesh did crucify with the affections, and the desires;

¹⁸ through all prayer and supplication\'7bpetitions, requests\'7d praying at all times in the Spirit, and in regard to this same, watching in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints --

¹² Not that I did already obtain, or have been already perfected; but I pursue, if also I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by the Christ Jesus; ¹³ brethren, I do not reckon myself to have laid hold; and one thing -- the things behind indeed forgetting, and to the things before stretching forth -- ¹⁴ to the mark I pursue for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

⁷ And of all things the end has come near; be sober-minded, then, and watch unto the prayers,

⁸ Be sober, vigilant, because your opponent the devil, as a roaring lion, does walk about, seeking whom he may swallow up,

⁹ The Lord has known to rescue pious ones out of temptation, and unrighteous ones to a day of judgment, being punished, to keep,

¹⁰ 'Because you did keep the word of my endurance, I also will keep you from the hour of the trial that is about to come upon all the world, to try those dwelling upon the earth.

¹⁵ 'lo, I do come as a thief; happy is he who is watching, and keeping his garments, that he may not walk naked, and they may see his unseemliness,' --
