³¹ for he was teaching his disciples, and he said to them, 'The Son of Man is being delivered to the hands of men, and they shall kill him, and having been killed the third day he shall rise,'

²¹ From that time began Jesus to show to his disciples that it is necessary for him to go away to Jerusalem, and to suffer many things from the elders, and chief priests, and scribes, and to be put to death, and the third day to rise.

¹⁸ 'Lo, we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man shall be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, ¹⁹ and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the nations to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify, and the third day he will rise again.'

²⁸ even as the Son of Man did not come to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.'

³⁸ and the husbandmen having seen the son, said among themselves, This is the heir, come, we may kill him, and may possess his inheritance; ³⁹ and having taken him, they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him;

² 'You have known that after two days the passover comes, and the Son of Man is delivered up to be crucified.'

³¹ and began to teach them, that it is necessary for the Son of Man to suffer many things, and to be rejected by the elders, and chief priests, and scribes, and to be killed, and after three days to rise again;

¹² And he answering said to them, 'Elijah indeed, having come first, does restore all things; and how has it been written concerning the Son of Man, that many things he may suffer, and be set at nought?

⁴⁴ 'Lay you to your ears these words, for the Son of Man is about to be delivered up to the hands of men.'

³¹ And having taken the twelve aside, he said unto them, 'Lo, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things shall be completed -- that have been written through the prophets -- to the Son of Man, ³² for he shall be delivered up to the nations, and shall be mocked, and insulted, and spit upon, ³³ and having scourged they shall put him to death, and on the third day he shall rise again.'

²⁶ Was it not behooving the Christ these things to suffer, and to enter into his glory?'

⁴⁴ and he said to them, 'These are the words that I spake unto you, being yet with you, that it is necessary for to be fulfilled all the things that are written in the Law of Moses, and the Prophets, and the Psalms, about me.' ⁴⁵ Then opened he up their understanding to understand the Writings, ⁴⁶ and he said to them -- 'Thus it has been written, and thus it was behooving the Christ to suffer, and to rise out of the dead the third day,

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, 'Destroy this sanctuary, and in three days I will raise it up.'

¹⁴ 'And as Moses did lift up the serpent in the wilderness, so it behooves the Son of Man to be lifted up,

¹⁸ no one does take it from me, but I lay it down of myself; authority I have to lay it down, and authority I have again to take it; this command I received from my Father.'

²³ this one, by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, being given out, having taken by lawless hands, having crucified -- you did slay; ²⁴ whom God did raise up, having loosed the pains of the death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it,

²⁷ for gathered together of a truth against Your holy child Jesus, whom You did anoint, were both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with nations and peoples of Israel, ²⁸ to do whatever Your hand and Your counsel did determine before to come to pass.

¹² if we do endure together -- we shall also reign together; if we deny him, he also shall deny us;
