¹⁸ and began to salute him, 'Hail, King of the Jews.'

⁴² 'Others he saved; himself he is not able to save! If he be King of Israel, let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe him; ⁴³ he has trusted on God, let Him now deliver him, if He wish him, because he said -- Son of God I am;'

² and Pilate questioned him, 'Are you the king of the Jews?' and he answering said to him, 'You do say it.'

²⁹ And those passing by were speaking evil of him, shaking their heads, and saying, 'Ah, the thrower down of the sanctuary, and in three days the builder! ³⁰ save yourself, and come down from the cross!' ³¹ And in like manner also the chief priests, mocking with one another, with the scribes, said, 'Others he saved; himself he is not able to save. ³² The Christ! the king of Israel -- let him come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe;' and those crucified with him were reproaching him.

³⁶ And mocking him also were the soldiers, coming near and offering vinegar to him, ³⁷ and saying, 'If you be the king of the Jews, save yourself.'

¹⁴ and it was the preparation of the passover, and as it were the sixth hour, and he said to the Jews, 'Lo, your king!' ¹⁵ and they cried out, 'Take away, take away, crucify him;' Pilate said to them, 'Your king shall I crucify?' the chief priests answered, 'We have no king except Caesar.'
