¹ And all the tax-gatherers and the sinners were coming near to him, to hear him, ² and the Pharisees and the scribes were murmuring, saying -- This one does receive sinners, and does eat with them.' ³ And he spake unto them this simile, saying, ⁴ 'What man of you having a hundred sheep, and having lost one out of them, does not leave behind the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go on after the lost one, till he may find it? ⁵ and having found, he does lay it on his shoulders rejoicing, ⁶ and having come to the house, he does call together the friends and the neighbours, saying to them, Rejoice with me, because I found my sheep -- the lost one. ⁷ 'I say to you, that so joy shall be in the heaven over one sinner reforming, rather than over ninety-nine righteous men, who have no need of reformation. ⁸ 'Or what woman having ten drachms, if she may lose one drachma, does not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek carefully till that she may find? ⁹ and having found, she does call together the female friends and the neighbours, saying, Rejoice with me, for I found the drachma that I lost. ¹⁰ 'So I say to you, joy does come before the messengers of God over one sinner reforming.' ¹¹ And he said, 'A certain man had two sons, ¹² and the younger of them said to the father, Father, give me the portion of the substance falling to me, and he divided to them the living. ¹³ 'And not many days after, having gathered all together, the younger son went abroad to a far country, and there he scattered his substance, living riotously; ¹⁴ and he having spent all, there came a mighty famine on that country, and himself began to be in want; ¹⁵ and having gone on, he joined himself to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him to the fields to feed swine, ¹⁶ and he was desirous to fill his belly from the husks that the swine were eating, and no one was giving to him. ¹⁷ 'And having come to himself, he said, How many hirelings of my father have a superabundance of bread, and I here with hunger am perishing! ¹⁸ having risen, I will go on unto my father, and will say to him, Father, I did sin -- to the heaven, and before you, ¹⁹ and no more am I worthy to be called your son; make me as one of your hirelings. ²⁰ 'And having risen, he went unto his own father, and he being yet far distant, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and having ran he fell upon his neck and kissed him; ²¹ and the son said to him, Father, I did sin -- to the heaven, and before you, and no more am I worthy to be called your son. ²² 'And the father said unto his servants, Bring forth the first robe, and clothe him, and give a ring for his hand, and sandals for the feet; ²³ and having brought the fatted calf, kill it, and having eaten, we may be merry, ²⁴ because this my son was dead, and did live again, and he was lost, and was found; and they began to be merry. ²⁵ 'And his elder son was in a field, and as, coming, he drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing, ²⁶ and having called near one of the young men, he was inquiring what these things might be, ²⁷ and he said to him -- Your brother is arrived, and your father did kill the fatted calf, because in health he did receive him back. ²⁸ 'And he was angry, and would not go in, therefore his father, having come forth, was entreating him; ²⁹ and he answering said to the father, Lo, so many years I do serve you, and never your command did I transgress, and to me you did never give a kid, that with my friends I might make merry; ³⁰ but when your son -- this one who did devour your living with harlots -- came, you did kill to him the fatted calf. ³¹ 'And he said to him, Child, you are always with me, and all my things are yours; ³² but to be merry, and to be glad, it was needful, because this your brother was dead, and did live again, he was lost, and was found.'

¹⁰ And it came to pass, he reclining (at meat) in the house, that lo, many tax-gatherers and sinners having come, were lying (at meat) with Jesus and his disciples, ¹¹ and the Pharisees having seen, said to his disciples, 'Why with the tax-gatherers and sinners does your teacher eat?' ¹² And Jesus having heard, said to them, 'They who are whole have no need of a physician, but they who are ill; ¹³ but having gone, learn you what is, Kindness I will, and not sacrifice, for I did not come to call righteous men, but sinners, to reformation.'

²⁸ 'And what think you? A man had two children, and having come to the first, he said, Child, go, to-day be working in my vineyard.' ²⁹ And he answering said, 'I will not,' but at last, having repented, he went. ³⁰ 'And having come to the second, he said in the same manner, and he answering said, I go, sir, and went not; ³¹ which of the two did the will of the father?' They say to him, 'The first.' Jesus said to them, 'Verily I say to you, that the tax-gatherers and the harlots do go before you into the reign of God,

²⁹ And Levi made a great entertainment to him in his house, and there was a great multitude of tax-gatherers and others who were with them reclining (at meat), ³⁰ and the scribes and the Pharisees among them were murmuring at his disciples, saying, 'Therefore with tax-gatherers and sinners do you eat and drink?' ³¹ And Jesus answering said unto them, 'They who are well have no need of a physician, but they that are ill: ³² I came not to call righteous men, but sinners, to reformation.'

²⁹ And all the people having heard, and the tax-gatherers, declared God righteous, having been baptized with the baptism of John,

³⁰ and lo, there are last who shall be first, and there are first who shall be last.'

²⁰ And law came in, that the offence might abound, and where the sin did abound, the grace did overabound,

¹⁵ stedfast is the word, and of all acceptation worthy, that Christ Jesus came to the world to save sinners -- first of whom I am;

¹¹ and the Pharisees having seen, said to his disciples, 'Why with the tax-gatherers and sinners does your teacher eat?'

³⁰ and the scribes and the Pharisees among them were murmuring at his disciples, saying, 'Therefore with tax-gatherers and sinners do you eat and drink?'

³⁴ the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, Lo, a man, a glutton, and a wine drinker, a friend of tax-gatherers and sinners;

³⁹ And the Pharisee who did call him, having seen, spake within himself, saying, 'This one, if he were a prophet, would have known who and of what kind is the woman who does touch him, that she is a sinner.'

²⁹ and he answering said to the father, Lo, so many years I do serve you, and never your command did I transgress, and to me you did never give a kid, that with my friends I might make merry; ³⁰ but when your son -- this one who did devour your living with harlots -- came, you did kill to him the fatted calf.

⁷ and having seen it, they were all murmuring, saying -- 'With a sinful man he went in to lodge!'

³ saying -- 'Unto men uncircumcised you did go in, and did eat with them!'

⁹ I did write to you in the epistle, not to keep company with whoremongers -- ¹⁰ and not certainly with the whoremongers of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, seeing you ought then to go forth out of the world -- ¹¹ and now, I did write to you not to keep company with him, if any one, being named a brother, may be a whoremonger, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner -- with such a one not even to eat together;

¹² for before the coming of certain from James, with the nations he was eating, and when they came, he was withdrawing and separating himself, fearing those of the circumcision,

¹¹ And he said to them, 'What man shall be of you, who shall have one sheep, and if this may fall on the sabbaths into a ditch, will not lay hold on it and raise it?

¹² 'What think you? If a man may have an hundred sheep, and there may go astray one of them, does he not -- having left the ninety-nine, having gone on the mountains -- seek that which is gone astray? ¹³ And if it may come to pass that he does find it, verily I say to you, that he does rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that have not gone astray; ¹⁴ so it is not will in presence of your Father who is in the heavens, that one of these little ones may perish.

¹⁵ Then the Lord answered him and said, 'Hypocrite, does not each of you on the sabbath loose his ox or ass from the stall, and having led away, does water it?

⁴ 'What man of you having a hundred sheep, and having lost one out of them, does not leave behind the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go on after the lost one, till he may find it? ⁵ and having found, he does lay it on his shoulders rejoicing, ⁶ and having come to the house, he does call together the friends and the neighbours, saying to them, Rejoice with me, because I found my sheep -- the lost one. ⁷ 'I say to you, that so joy shall be in the heaven over one sinner reforming, rather than over ninety-nine righteous men, who have no need of reformation.

¹⁰ for the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.'

¹⁵ according as the Father does know me, and I know the Father, and my life I lay down for the sheep, ¹⁶ and other sheep I have that are not of this fold, these also it behooves me to bring, and my voice they will hear, and there shall become one flock -- one shepherd.

²⁶ but you do not believe, for you are not of my sheep, ²⁷ according as I said to you: My sheep my voice do hear, and I know them, and they follow me, ²⁸ and life age-during I give to them, and they shall not perish -- to the age, and no one shall pluck them out of my hand;

¹ Therefore, you are inexcusable, O man -- every one who is judging -- for in that in which you do judge the other, yourself you do condemn, for the same things you do practise who are judging,

²⁵ for you were as sheep going astray, but you turned back now to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.

²³ and having brought the fatted calf, kill it, and having eaten, we may be merry, ²⁴ because this my son was dead, and did live again, and he was lost, and was found; and they began to be merry.

³² but to be merry, and to be glad, it was needful, because this your brother was dead, and did live again, he was lost, and was found.'

⁹ And Jesus said unto him -- 'To-day salvation did come to this house, inasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham;

⁴³ and Jesus said to him, 'Verily I say to you, To-day with me you shall be in the paradise.'

³⁴ Jesus said to them, 'My food is, that I may do the will of Him who sent me, and may finish His work; ³⁵ do not say that it is yet four months, and the harvest comes; lo, I say to you, Lift up your eyes, and see the fields, that they are white unto harvest already.

¹¹ these things I have spoken to you, that my joy in you may remain, and your joy may be full.

¹ And Saul, yet breathing of threatening and slaughter to the disciples of the Lord, having gone to the chief priest, ² did ask from him letters to Damascus, unto the synagogues, that if he may find any being of the way, both men and women, he may bring them bound to Jerusalem. ³ And in the going, he came near to Damascus, and suddenly there shone round about him a light from the heaven, ⁴ and having fallen upon the earth, he heard a voice saying to him, 'Saul, Saul, why me do you persecute?' ⁵ And he said, 'Who are you, Lord?' and the Lord said, 'I am Jesus whom you do persecute; hard for you at the pricks to kick;' ⁶ trembling also, and astonished, he said, 'Lord, what do you wish me to do?' and the Lord said unto him, 'Arise, and enter into the city, and it shall be told you what it behooves you to do.' ⁷ And the men who are journeying with him stood speechless, hearing indeed the voice but seeing no one, ⁸ and Saul arose from the earth, and his eyes having been opened, he beheld no one, and leading him by the hand they brought him to Damascus, ⁹ and he was three days without seeing, and he did neither eat nor drink. ¹⁰ And there was a certain disciple in Damascus, by name Ananias, and the Lord said unto him in a vision, 'Ananias;' and he said, 'Behold me, Lord;' ¹¹ and the Lord said unto him, 'Having risen, go on unto the street that is called Straight, and seek in the house of Judas, one by name Saul of Tarsus, for, lo, he does pray, ¹² and he saw in a vision a man, by name Ananias, coming in, and putting a hand on him, that he may see again.' ¹³ And Ananias answered, 'Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how many evils he did to Your saints in Jerusalem, ¹⁴ and here he has authority from the chief priests, to bind all those calling on Your name.' ¹⁵ And the Lord said unto him, 'Be going on, because a choice vessel to Me is this one, to bear My name before nations and kings -- the sons also of Israel; ¹⁶ for I will show him how many things it behooves him for My name to suffer.'

²⁰ and Isaiah is very bold, and says, 'I was found by those not seeking Me; I became manifest to those not inquiring after Me;' ²¹ and unto Israel He says, 'All the day I did stretch out My hands unto a people unbelieving and gainsaying.'

¹⁹ and what the exceeding greatness\'7bexcelling magnitude\'7d of His power to us who are believing, according to the working of the power of His might, ²⁰ which He wrought\'7bworked, effected\'7d in the Christ, having raised him out of the dead, and did set him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

³ among whom also we all did walk once in the desires of our flesh, doing the wishes\'7bdesires\'7d of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath -- as also the others, ⁴ and God, being rich in kindness, because of His great love with which He loved us, ⁵ even being dead in the trespasses, made us to live together with the Christ, (by grace you are having been saved,) ⁶ and raised us up together, and did seat us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

¹⁰ for of Him we are workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God did before prepare, that in them we may walk.

⁷ of which I became a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God that was given to me, according to the working of His power;

⁵ because our good news did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance, even as you have known of what sort we became among you because of you,

²⁶ and they may awake out of the devil's snare, having been caught by him at his will.

³ for we were once -- also we -- thoughtless, disobedient, led astray, serving desires and pleasures manifold\'7bmany\'7d, in malice and envy living, odious -- hating one another; ⁴ and when the kindness and the love to men of God our Saviour did appear ⁵ (not by works that are in righteousness that we did but according to His kindness,) He did save us, through a bathing of regeneration, and a renewing of the Holy Spirit, ⁶ which He poured upon us richly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour, ⁷ that having been declared righteous by His grace, heirs we may become according to the hope of life age-during.

² looking to the author and perfecter of faith -- Jesus, who, over-against the joy set before him -- did endure a cross, shame having despised, on the right hand also of the throne of God did sit down;

⁵ who, in the power of God are being guarded, through faith, unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time,

¹³ And suddenly there came with the messenger a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, ¹⁴ 'Glory in the highest to God, and upon earth peace, among men -- good will.'

⁷ 'I say to you, that so joy shall be in the heaven over one sinner reforming, rather than over ninety-nine righteous men, who have no need of reformation.

¹⁰ 'So I say to you, joy does come before the messengers of God over one sinner reforming.'

²⁴ because this my son was dead, and did live again, and he was lost, and was found; and they began to be merry.

²⁹ he who is having the bride is bridegroom, and the friend of the bridegroom, who is standing and hearing him, with joy does rejoice because of the voice of the bridegroom; this, then, my joy has been fulfilled.

¹⁴ you are my friends, if you may do whatever I command you;

²³ who, having come, and having seen the grace of God, was glad, and was exhorting all with purpose of heart to cleave to the Lord,

³ they indeed, then, having been sent forward by the assembly, were passing through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the nations, and they were causing great joy to all the brethren.

⁴ always, in every supplication of mine for you all, with joy making the supplication,

¹⁷ but if also I am poured forth upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and joy with you all,

¹ So then, my brethren, beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand you in the Lord, beloved.

¹⁹ for what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? are not even you before our Lord Jesus Christ in his presence?

⁷ because of this we were comforted, brethren, over you, in all our tribulation and necessity, through your faith, ⁸ because now we live, if you may stand fast in the Lord; ⁹ for what thanks are we able to recompense to God for you, for all the joy with which we do joy because of you in the presence of our God?

¹⁰ who were once not a people, and are now the people of God; who had not found kindness, and now have found kindness.

¹³ And if it may come to pass that he does find it, verily I say to you, that he does rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that have not gone astray;

³² I came not to call righteous men, but sinners, to reformation.'

²⁹ and he answering said to the father, Lo, so many years I do serve you, and never your command did I transgress, and to me you did never give a kid, that with my friends I might make merry;

¹⁵ and he said to them, 'You are those declaring yourselves righteous before men, but God does know your hearts; because that which among men is high, is abomination before God;

⁹ And he spake also unto certain who have been trusting in themselves that they were righteous, and have been despising the rest, this simile: ¹⁰ 'Two men went up to the temple to pray, the one a Pharisee, and the other a tax-gatherer; ¹¹ the Pharisee having stood by himself, thus prayed: God, I thank You that I am not as the rest of men, rapacious, unrighteous, adulterers, or even as this tax-gatherer;

⁹ And I was alive apart from law once, and the command having come, the sin revived, and I died;

⁶ according to zeal persecuting the assembly! according to righteousness that is in law becoming blameless! ⁷ But what things were to me gains, these I have counted, because of the Christ, loss;

¹⁶ and other sheep I have that are not of this fold, these also it behooves me to bring, and my voice they will hear, and there shall become one flock -- one shepherd.

⁵² and not for the nation only, but that also the children of God, who have been scattered abroad, he may gather together into one.

¹⁷ and having come, he did proclaim good news -- peace to you -- the far-off and the near,

¹⁰ 'Beware! -- You may not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you, that their messengers in the heavens do always behold the face of my Father who is in the heavens,

¹⁴ so it is not will in presence of your Father who is in the heavens, that one of these little ones may perish.

⁵ And the messenger answering said to the women, 'Fear not you, for I have known that Jesus, who has been crucified, you seek; ⁶ he is not here, for he rose, as he said; come, see the place where the Lord was lying; ⁷ and having gone quickly, say you to his disciples, that he rose from the dead; and lo, he does go before you to Galilee, there you shall see him; lo, I have told you.'

¹ And it came to pass in those days, there went forth a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world be enrolled -- ² this enrollment first came to pass when Cyrenius was governor of Syria -- ³ and all were going to be enrolled, each to his proper city, ⁴ and Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, that is called Bethlehem, because of his being of the house and family of David, ⁵ to enroll himself with Mary his betrothed wife, being with child. ⁶ And it came to pass, in their being there, the days were fulfilled for her bringing forth, ⁷ and she brought forth her son -- the first-born, and wrapped him up, and laid him down in the manger, because there was not for them a place in the guest-chamber. ⁸ And there were shepherds in the same region, lodging in the field, and keeping the night-watches over their flock, ⁹ and lo, a messenger of the Lord stood over them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they feared a great fear. ¹⁰ And the messenger said to them, 'Fear not, for lo, I bring you good news of great joy, that shall be to all the people -- ¹¹ because there was born to you to-day a Saviour -- who is Christ the Lord -- in the city of David, ¹² and this is to you the sign: You shall find a babe wrapped up, lying in the manger.'

⁴⁷ therefore I say to you, her many sins have been forgiven, because she did love much; but to whom little is forgiven, little he does love.'

⁵ No -- I say to you, but, if you may not reform, all you in like manner shall perish.'

¹⁹ and a messenger of the Lord through the night opened the doors of the prison, having also brought them forth, he said,

³ he saw in a vision manifestly, as it were the ninth hour of the day, a messenger of God coming in unto him, and saying to him, 'Cornelius;' ⁴ and he having looked earnestly on him, and becoming afraid, said, 'What is it, Lord?' And he said to him, 'Your prayers and your kind acts came up for a memorial before God, ⁵ and now send men to Joppa, and send for a certain one Simon, who is surnamed Peter,

¹⁸ And they, having heard these things, were silent, and were glorifying God, saying, 'Then, indeed, also to the nations did God give the reformation to life.'

¹⁰ for the sorrow toward God reformation to salvation not to be repented of does work, and the sorrow of the world does work death,

¹⁵ for perhaps because of this he did depart for an hour, that age-duringly you may have him,

¹⁴ are they not all spirits of service -- for ministration being sent forth because of those about to inherit salvation?

¹¹ And I saw, and I heard the voice of many messengers round the throne, and the living creatures, and the elders -- and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands -- ¹² saying with a great voice, 'Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive the power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing!' ¹³ and every creature that is in the heaven, and in the earth, and under the earth, and the things that are upon the sea, and the all things in them, heard I saying, 'To Him who is sitting upon the throne, and to the Lamb, is the blessing, and the honour, and the glory, and the might -- to the ages of the ages!' ¹⁴ and the four living creatures said, 'Amen!' and the twenty-four elders fell down and they bow before Him who is living to the ages of the ages.

²³ And he having come to the temple, there came to him when teaching the chief priests and the elders of the people, saying, 'By what authority do you do these things? And who gave you this authority?' ²⁴ And Jesus answering said to them, 'I will ask you -- I also -- one word, which if you may tell me, I also will tell you by what authority I do these things; ²⁵ the baptism of John, from where was it? -- From heaven, or from men?' And they were reasoning with themselves, saying, 'If we should say, From heaven; he will say to us, Why, then, did you not believe him? ²⁶ And if we should say, From men, we fear the multitude, for all hold John as a prophet.' ²⁷ And answering Jesus they said, 'We have not known.' He said to them -- he also -- 'Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

⁴⁴ for all, out of their abundance, put in, but she, out of her want, all that she had put in -- all her living.'

³⁰ but when your son -- this one who did devour your living with harlots -- came, you did kill to him the fatted calf.

¹ And he said also unto his disciples, 'A certain man was rich, who had a steward, and he was accused to him as scattering his goods;

¹⁹ 'And -- a certain man was rich, and was clothed in purple and fine linen, making merry sumptuously every day,

¹³ as in day-time, let us walk becomingly; not in revellings and drunkennesses, not in chamberings and lasciviousnesses, not in strife and emulation; ¹⁴ but put you on the Lord Jesus Christ, and for the flesh take no forethought -- for desires.

¹³ and now, in Christ Jesus, you being once afar off became near in the blood of the Christ,

³ for sufficient to us is the past time of life the will of the nations to have wrought, having walked in lasciviousnesses, desires, excesses of wines, revellings, drinking-bouts, and unlawful idolatries, ⁴ in which they think it strange -- your not running with them to the same excess of dissoluteness, speaking evil,

¹³ about to receive a reward of unrighteousness, pleasures counting the luxury in the day, spots and blemishes, luxuriating in their deceits, feasting with you,

³² and there was there a herd of many swine feeding in the mountain, and they were calling on him, that he might suffer them to enter into these, and he suffered them, ³³ and the demons having gone forth from the man, did enter into the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep to the lake, and were choked. ³⁴ And those feeding them, having seen what was come to pass, fled, and having gone, told it to the city, and to the fields;

¹³ 'And not many days after, having gathered all together, the younger son went abroad to a far country, and there he scattered his substance, living riotously;

²⁴ Therefore also God did give them up, in the desires of their hearts, to uncleanness, to dishonour their bodies among themselves; ²⁵ who did change the truth of God into a falsehood, and did honour and serve the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed to the ages. Amen. ²⁶ Because of this did God give them up to dishonorable affections, for even their females did change the natural use into that against nature;

²² And now, having been freed from the sin, and having become servants to God, you have your fruit -- to sanctification, and the end life age-during;

⁹ have you not known that the unrighteous the reign of God shall not inherit? be not led astray; neither whoremongers, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor sodomites, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, the reign of God shall inherit. ¹¹ And certain of you were these! but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were declared righteous, in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God.

² in which once you did walk according to the age of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience, ³ among whom also we all did walk once in the desires of our flesh, doing the wishes\'7bdesires\'7d of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath -- as also the others,

¹⁷ This, then, I say, and I testify in the Lord; you are no more to walk, as also the other nations walk, in the vanity of their mind, ¹⁸ being darkened in the understanding, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart, ¹⁹ who, having ceased to feel, themselves did give up to the lasciviousness\'7blewdness\'7d, for the working of all uncleanness\'7bimpurity\'7d in greediness;

¹¹ and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of the darkness and rather even convict\'7bexpose\'7d, ¹² for the things in secret done by them it is a shame even to speak of,

⁵ Put to death, then, your members that are upon the earth -- whoredom, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and the covetousness, which is idolatry -- ⁶ because of which things cometh the anger of God upon the sons of the disobedience, ⁷ in which also you -- you did walk once, when you lived in them;

²⁵ in meekness instructing those opposing -- if perhaps God may give to them repentance to an acknowledging of the truth, ²⁶ and they may awake out of the devil's snare, having been caught by him at his will.

³ for we were once -- also we -- thoughtless, disobedient, led astray, serving desires and pleasures manifold\'7bmany\'7d, in malice and envy living, odious -- hating one another;

²¹ and I did give to her a time that she might reform from her whoredom, and she did not reform; ²² lo, I will cast her into a couch, and those committing adultery with her into great tribulation -- if they may not repent of their works,

¹⁹ In the manner of men I speak, because of the weakness of your flesh, for even as you did present your members servants to the uncleanness and to the lawlessness -- to the lawlessness, so now present your members servants to the righteousness -- to sanctification, ²⁰ for when you were servants of the sin, you were free from the righteousness, ²¹ what fruit, therefore, were you having then, in the things of which you are now ashamed? for the end of those is death.

³⁵ and they came forth to see what was come to pass, and they came unto Jesus, and found the man sitting, out of whom the demons had gone forth, clothed, and right-minded, at the feet of Jesus, and they were afraid;

¹⁸ having risen, I will go on unto my father, and will say to him, Father, I did sin -- to the heaven, and before you, ¹⁹ and no more am I worthy to be called your son; make me as one of your hirelings.

²³ and in the hades having lifted up his eyes, being in torments, he does see Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom,

³⁷ And having heard, they were pricked to the heart; they say also to Peter, and to the rest of the apostles, 'What shall we do, men, brethren?'

²⁹ And, having asked for a light, he sprang in, and trembling he fell down before Paul and Silas, ³⁰ and having brought them forth, said, 'Sirs, what must I do -- that I may be saved?'

¹¹ and in every synagogue, often punishing them, I was constraining them to speak evil, being also exceedingly mad against them, I was also persecuting them even unto strange cities. ¹² 'In which things, also, going on to Damascus -- with authority and commission from the chief priests -- ¹³ at mid-day, I saw in the way, O king, out of heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me a light -- and those going on with me; ¹⁴ and we all having fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew dialect, Saul, Saul, why me do you persecute? hard for you against pricks to kick! ¹⁵ 'And I said, Who are you, Lord? and he said, I am Jesus whom you do persecute; ¹⁶ but rise, and stand upon your feet, for this I appeared to you, to appoint you an officer and a witness both of the things you did see, and of the things in which I will appear to you, ¹⁷ delivering you from the people, and the nations, to whom now I send you, ¹⁸ to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light, and from the authority of the Adversary unto God, for their receiving forgiveness of sins, and a lot among those having been sanctified, by faith that is toward me. ¹⁹ 'Whereupon, king Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,

⁴ and God, being rich in kindness, because of His great love with which He loved us, ⁵ even being dead in the trespasses, made us to live together with the Christ, (by grace you are having been saved,)

¹⁴ wherefore he says, 'Arouse yourself, you who are sleeping, and arise out of the dead, and the Christ shall shine upon you.'

⁴ and when the kindness and the love to men of God our Saviour did appear ⁵ (not by works that are in righteousness that we did but according to His kindness,) He did save us, through a bathing of regeneration, and a renewing of the Holy Spirit, ⁶ which He poured upon us richly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour,

¹⁶ Be not led astray, my brethren beloved; ¹⁷ every good giving, and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the lights, with whom is no variation, or shadow of turning; ¹⁸ having counselled, He did beget us with a word of truth, for our being a certain first-fruit of His creatures.

⁶ and they were baptized in the Jordan by him, confessing their sins.

⁹ thus therefore pray you: 'Our Father, who is in the heavens, hallowed be Your name!

¹⁴ 'For, if you may forgive men their trespasses He also will forgive you -- your Father who is in the heavens;

¹¹ If, therefore, you being evil, have known good gifts to give to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in the heavens give good things to those asking him?

² And he said to them, 'When you may pray, say you: Our Father who is in the heavens; hallowed be Your name: Your reign come; Your will come to pass, as in heaven also on earth;

²¹ and the son said to him, Father, I did sin -- to the heaven, and before you, and no more am I worthy to be called your son.

¹³ 'And the tax-gatherer, having stood afar off, would not even the eyes lift up to the heaven, but was smiting on his breast, saying, God be propitious to me -- the sinner!

⁸ if we may say -- 'we have not sin,' ourselves we lead astray, and the truth is not in us; ⁹ if we may confess our sins, steadfast He is and righteous that He may forgive us the sins, and may cleanse us from every unrighteousness; ¹⁰ if we may say -- 'we have not sinned,' a liar we make Him, and His word is not in us.

²⁶ and he answering said, 'It is not good to take the children's bread, and to cast to the little dogs.' ²⁷ And she said, 'Yes, sir, for even the little dogs do eat of the crumbs that are falling from their lords' table;'

⁸ And Simon Peter having seen, fell down at the knees of Jesus, saying, 'Depart from me, because I am a sinful man, O lord;'

⁶ And Jesus was going on with them, and now when he is not far distant from the house the centurion sent unto him friends, saying to him, 'Sir, be not troubled, for I am not worthy that under my roof you may enter; ⁷ wherefore not even myself thought I worthy to come unto you, but say in a word, and my lad shall be healed;

⁹ for I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I did persecute the assembly of God,

¹³ who before was speaking evil, and persecuting, and insulting, but I found kindness, because, being ignorant, I did it in unbelief, ¹⁴ and exceedingly abound did the grace of our Lord, with faith and love that is in Christ Jesus: ¹⁵ stedfast is the word, and of all acceptation worthy, that Christ Jesus came to the world to save sinners -- first of whom I am; ¹⁶ but because of this I found kindness, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all long-suffering, for a pattern of those about to believe on him to life age-during:

⁸ draw near to God, and He will draw near to you; cleanse hands, you sinners! and purify hearts, you two-souled! ⁹ be exceeding afflicted, and mourn, and weep, let your laughter to mourning be turned, and the joy to heaviness; ¹⁰ be made low before the Lord, and He shall exalt you.

⁶ be humbled, then, under the powerful hand of God, that you He may exalt in good time,

³⁹ for to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all those afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call.'

³⁷ and there came a great weeping to all, and having fallen upon the neck of Paul, they were kissing him,

⁴ or the riches of His goodness, and forbearance, and long-suffering, do you despise? -- not knowing that the goodness of God does lead you to reformation!

¹² and thus sinning in regard to the brethren, and smiting their weak conscience -- in regard to Christ you sin;

¹¹ 'And the king having come in to view those reclining, saw there a man not clothed with clothing of the marriage-feast, ¹² and he said to him, Comrade, how did you come in here, not having clothing of the marriage-feast? And he was speechless.

²² and the righteousness of God is through the faith of Jesus Christ to all, and upon all those believing, -- for there is no difference,

¹⁵ for you did not receive a spirit of bondage again for fear, but you did receive a spirit of adoption in which we cry, 'Abba -- Father.'

¹⁴ but put you on the Lord Jesus Christ, and for the flesh take no forethought -- for desires.

²⁷ for as many as to Christ were baptized did put on Christ;

⁵ that those under law he may redeem, that the adoption of sons we may receive; ⁶ and because you are sons, God did send forth the spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, 'Abba, Father!'

¹³ in whom you also, having heard the word of the truth -- the good news of your salvation -- in whom also having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of the promise, ¹⁴ which is an earnest\'7bpledge, down payment\'7d of our inheritance, to the redemption of the acquired possession, to the praise of His glory.

²² you are to put off concerning the former behaviour the old man\'7bperson\'7d, that is corrupt according to the desires of the deceit, ²³ and to be renewed in the spirit of your mind, ²⁴ and to put on the new man, which, according to God, was created in righteousness and kindness of the truth.

¹⁵ and having the feet shod in the preparation of the good-news of the peace;

¹⁷ He who is having an ear -- let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies: To him who is overcoming, I will give to him to eat from the hidden manna, and will give to him a white stone, and upon the stone a new name written, that no one knew except him who is receiving it.

⁴ You have a few names even in Sardis who did not defile their garments, and they shall walk with me in white, because they are worthy. ⁵ He who is overcoming -- this one -- shall be arrayed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the scroll of the life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before His messengers.

¹⁸ I counsel you to buy from me gold fired by fire, that you may be rich, and white garments that you may be arrayed, and the shame of your nakedness may not be manifest, and with eye-salve anoint your eyes, that you may see.

¹¹ And there was given to each one white robes, and it was said to them that they may rest themselves yet a little time, till may be fulfilled also their fellow-servants and their brethren, who are about to be killed -- even as they.

⁹ After these things I saw, and lo, a great multitude, which to number no one was able, out of all nations, and tribes, and peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne, and before the Lamb, arrayed in white robes, and palms in their hands,

¹³ And answer did one of the elders, saying to me, 'These, who have been arrayed with the white robes -- who are they, and why came they?' ¹⁴ and I have said to him, 'Sir, you have known;' and he said to me, 'These are those who are coming out of the great tribulation, and they did wash their robes, and they made their robes white in the blood of the Lamb;

⁸ and there was given to her that she may be arrayed with fine linen, pure and shining, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.'

² 'The reign of the heavens was likened to a man, a king, who made marriage-feasts for his son, ³ and he sent forth his servants to call those having been called to the marriage-feasts, and they were not willing to come. ⁴ 'Again he sent forth other servants, saying, Say to those who have been called: Lo, my dinner I prepared, my oxen and the fatlings have been killed, and all things are ready, come you to the marriage-feasts; ⁵ and they, having disregarded it, went away, the one to his own field, and the other to his merchandise; ⁶ and the rest, having laid hold on his servants, did insult and slay them. ⁷ 'And the king having heard, was enraged, and having sent forth his soldiers, he destroyed those murderers, and their city he set on fire; ⁸ then said he to his servants, The marriage-feast indeed is ready, and those called were not worthy, ⁹ be going, then, on to the cross-ways, and as many as you may find, call you to the marriage-feasts. ¹⁰ 'And those servants, having gone forth to the ways, did gather all, as many as they found, both bad and good, and the marriage-feast apartment was filled with those reclining. ¹¹ 'And the king having come in to view those reclining, saw there a man not clothed with clothing of the marriage-feast, ¹² and he said to him, Comrade, how did you come in here, not having clothing of the marriage-feast? And he was speechless. ¹³ 'Then said the king to the ministrants, Having bound his feet and hands, take him up and cast forth to the outer darkness, there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth; ¹⁴ for many are called, and few chosen.'

¹⁰ 'Beware! -- You may not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you, that their messengers in the heavens do always behold the face of my Father who is in the heavens, ¹¹ for the Son of Man did come to save the lost. ¹² 'What think you? If a man may have an hundred sheep, and there may go astray one of them, does he not -- having left the ninety-nine, having gone on the mountains -- seek that which is gone astray? ¹³ And if it may come to pass that he does find it, verily I say to you, that he does rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that have not gone astray;

²² And he comes to Bethsaida, and they bring to him one blind, and call upon him that he may touch him,

¹⁹ lo, I give to you the authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and on all the power of the enemy, and nothing by any means shall hurt you;

⁴ 'What man of you having a hundred sheep, and having lost one out of them, does not leave behind the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go on after the lost one, till he may find it?

⁷ 'I say to you, that so joy shall be in the heaven over one sinner reforming, rather than over ninety-nine righteous men, who have no need of reformation. ⁸ 'Or what woman having ten drachms, if she may lose one drachma, does not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek carefully till that she may find? ⁹ and having found, she does call together the female friends and the neighbours, saying, Rejoice with me, for I found the drachma that I lost.

²¹ 'For, as the Father does raise the dead, and does make alive, so also the Son does make alive whom he wills;

²⁴ 'Verily, verily, I say to you -- He who is hearing my word, and is believing Him who sent me, has life age-during, and to judgment he does not come, but has passed out of the death to the life. ²⁵ 'Verily, verily, I say to you -- There comes an hour, and it now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and those having heard shall live;

²⁵ Jesus said to her, 'I am the rising again, and the life; he who is believing in me, even if he may die, shall live;

¹¹ so also you, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to the sin, and living to God in Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹³ neither present you your members instruments of unrighteousness to the sin, but present yourselves to God as living out of the dead, and your members instruments of righteousness to God;

² for the law of the Spirit of the life in Christ Jesus did set me free from the law of the sin and of the death;

¹⁵ for if the casting away of them is a reconciliation of the world, what the reception -- if not life out of the dead?

¹⁵ to rejoice with the rejoicing, and to weep with the weeping,

²⁶ and whether one member does suffer, suffer with it do all the members, or one member is glorified, rejoice with it do all the members;

¹⁴ for the love of the Christ does constrain us, having judged thus: that if one for all died, then the whole died, ¹⁵ and for all he died, that those living, no more to themselves may live, but to him who died for them, and was raised again.

¹ Also you -- being dead in the trespasses and the sins,

⁵ even being dead in the trespasses, made us to live together with the Christ, (by grace you are having been saved,)

¹³ And you -- being dead in the trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh -- He made alive together with him, having forgiven you all the trespasses,

⁶ and she who is given to luxury, living -- has died;

¹² These are in your love-feasts craggy rocks; feasting together with you, without fear shepherding themselves; clouds without water, by winds carried about; trees autumnal, without fruit, twice dead, rooted up;

¹ And to the messenger of the assembly in Sardis write: These things says he who is having the Seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars: I have known your works, and that you have the name that you do live, and you are dead;

³² they are like to children, to those sitting in a market-place, and calling one to another, and saying, We piped to you, and you did not dance, we mourned to you, and you did not weep!

¹¹ And he said, 'A certain man had two sons, ¹² and the younger of them said to the father, Father, give me the portion of the substance falling to me, and he divided to them the living.

¹⁷ And Ananias went away, and did enter into the house, and having put upon him his hands, said, 'Saul, brother, the Lord has sent me -- Jesus who did appear to you in the way in which you were coming -- that you may see again, and may be filled with the Holy Spirit.'

¹³ having come unto me and stood by me, said to me, Saul, brother, look up; and I the same hour did look up to him;

¹⁶ no more as a servant, but above a servant -- a brother beloved, especially to me, and how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord!

¹¹ and having received it, they were murmuring against the householder, saying,

³⁴ 'Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that is killing the prophets, and stoning those sent unto her, how often did I will to gather together your children, as a hen her brood under the wings, and you did not will.

² and the Pharisees and the scribes were murmuring, saying -- This one does receive sinners, and does eat with them.'

⁴⁷ and reformation and remission of sins to be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem:

⁴⁵ and the Jews having seen the multitudes, were filled with zeal, and did contradict the things spoken by Paul -- contradicting and speaking evil.

⁵⁰ And the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the first men of the city, and did raise persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and did put them out from their borders;

² and the unbelieving Jews did stir up and made evil the souls of the nations against the brethren;

¹⁹ And there came thither, from Antioch and Iconium, Jews, and they having persuaded the multitudes, and having stoned Paul, drew him outside of the city, having supposed him to be dead;

²¹ and he said unto me, Go, because to nations far off I will send you.' ²² And they were hearing him unto this word, and they lifted up their voice, saying, 'Away from the earth with such an one; for it is not fit for him to live.'

¹⁹ But I say, Did not Israel know? first Moses says, 'I will provoke you to jealousy by that which is not a nation; by an unintelligent nation I will anger you,'

²⁰ in behalf of Christ, then, we are ambassadors, as if God were calling through us, we beseech, in behalf of Christ, 'Be you reconciled to God;'

¹⁶ forbidding us to speak to the nations that they might be saved, to fill up their sins always, but the anger did come upon them -- to the end!

¹² that These, the last, wrought one hour, and you did make them equal to us, who were bearing the burden of the day -- and the heat.

¹⁰ 'So also you, when you may have done all the things directed you, say -- We are unprofitable servants, because that which we owed to do -- we have done.'

⁹ And he spake also unto certain who have been trusting in themselves that they were righteous, and have been despising the rest, this simile:

¹¹ the Pharisee having stood by himself, thus prayed: God, I thank You that I am not as the rest of men, rapacious, unrighteous, adulterers, or even as this tax-gatherer; ¹² I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all things -- as many as I possess.

²⁰ the commands you have known: You may not commit adultery, You may do no murder, You may not steal, You may not bear false witness, Honour your father and your mother.' ²¹ And he said, 'All these I did keep from my youth;'

²¹ for I was afraid of you, because you are an austere man; you take up what you did not lay down, and reap what you did not sow.

²⁰ therefore by works of law shall no flesh be declared righteous before Him, for through law is a knowledge of sin.

²⁷ Where then is the boasting? it was excluded; by what law? of works? no, but by a law of faith:

³ for not knowing the righteousness of God, and their own righteousness seeking to establish, to the righteousness of God they did not submit.

⁴ though I also have cause of trust in flesh. If any other one doth think to have trust in flesh, I more; ⁵ circumcision on the eighth day! of the race of Israel! of the tribe of Benjamin! a Hebrew of Hebrews! according to law a Pharisee! ⁶ according to zeal persecuting the assembly! according to righteousness that is in law becoming blameless!

¹⁷ because you sayest -- I am rich, and have grown rich, and have need of nothing, and have not known that you are the wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked,

¹² and the younger of them said to the father, Father, give me the portion of the substance falling to me, and he divided to them the living. ¹³ 'And not many days after, having gathered all together, the younger son went abroad to a far country, and there he scattered his substance, living riotously;

²² 'And the father said unto his servants, Bring forth the first robe, and clothe him, and give a ring for his hand, and sandals for the feet; ²³ and having brought the fatted calf, kill it, and having eaten, we may be merry,

¹¹ the Pharisee having stood by himself, thus prayed: God, I thank You that I am not as the rest of men, rapacious, unrighteous, adulterers, or even as this tax-gatherer;

¹³ 'And he answering said to one of them, Comrade, I do no unrighteousness to you; for a denary did not you agree with me? ¹⁴ Take that which is yours, and go; and I will to give to this, the last, also as to you; ¹⁵ is it not lawful to me to do what I will in mine own? Is your eye evil because I am good? ¹⁶ So the last shall be first, and the first last, for many are called, and few chosen.'

²⁷ And Jesus said to her, 'Allow first the children to be filled, for it is not good to take the children's bread, and to cast it to the little dogs.' ²⁸ And she answered and said to him, 'Yes, sir; for the little dogs also under the table do eat of the children's crumbs.'

²² 'And he said to him, Out of your mouth I will judge you, evil servant: you knew that I am an austere man, taking up what I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow! ²³ and wherefore did you not give my money to the bank, and I, having come, with interest might have received it?

⁴ who are Israelites, whose is the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the lawgiving, and the service, and the promises,

¹ I say, then, Did God cast away His people? let it not be! for I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin:

³⁵ or who did first give to Him, and it shall be given back to him again?

⁴ let it not be! and let God become true, and every man false, according as it has been written, 'That You may be declared righteous in Your words, and may overcome in Your being judged.'

¹⁹ And we have known that as many things as the law says, to those in the law it does speak, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may come under judgment to God;

⁹ and the nations for kindness to glorify God, according as it has been written, 'Because of this I will confess to You among nations, and to Your name I will sing praise,' ¹⁰ and again it says, 'Rejoice you nations, with His people;' ¹¹ and again, 'Praise the Lord, all you nations; and laud Him, all you peoples;' ¹² and again, Isaiah says, 'There shall be the root of Jesse, and he who is rising to rule nations -- upon him shall nations hope;' ¹³ and the God of the hope shall fill you with all joy and peace in the believing, for your abounding in the hope in power of the Holy Spirit.

¹ Also you -- being dead in the trespasses and the sins, ² in which once you did walk according to the age of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience, ³ among whom also we all did walk once in the desires of our flesh, doing the wishes\'7bdesires\'7d of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath -- as also the others, ⁴ and God, being rich in kindness, because of His great love with which He loved us, ⁵ even being dead in the trespasses, made us to live together with the Christ, (by grace you are having been saved,) ⁶ and raised us up together, and did seat us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, ⁷ that He might show, in the ages that are coming, the exceeding\'7bsuperb\'7d riches of His grace in kindness\'7bgoodness\'7d toward us in Christ Jesus, ⁸ for by grace you are having been saved, through faith, and this not of you -- of God the gift, ⁹ not of works, that no one may boast; ¹⁰ for of Him we are workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God did before prepare, that in them we may walk.
