¹⁹ and I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many good things laid up for many years, be resting, eat, drink, be merry.

¹⁹ 'Treasure not up to yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust disfigure, and where thieves break through and steal, ²⁰ but treasure up to yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust does disfigure, and where thieves do not break through nor steal, ²¹ for where your treasure is, there will be also your heart.

⁴ traitors, heady\'7brash, reckless\'7d, lofty\'7bconceited\'7d, lovers of pleasure\'7bhedonists\'7d more\'7brather\'7d than lovers of God,

¹³ Go, now, you who are saying, 'To-day and to-morrow we will go on to such a city, and will pass there one year, and traffic, and make gain;' ¹⁴ who do not know the thing of the morrow; for what is your life? for it is a vapour that is appearing for a little, and then is vanishing; ¹⁵ instead of your saying, 'If the Lord may will, we shall live, and do this or that;'

¹ Go, now, you rich! weep, howling over your miseries that are coming upon you; ² your riches have rotted, and your garments have become moth-eaten; ³ your gold and silver have rotted, and the rust of them for a testimony shall be to you, and shall eat your flesh as fire. You made treasure in the last days!

⁵ you did live in luxury upon the earth, and were wanton; you did nourish your hearts, as in a day of slaughter;

³ for sufficient to us is the past time of life the will of the nations to have wrought, having walked in lasciviousnesses, desires, excesses of wines, revellings, drinking-bouts, and unlawful idolatries,

⁷ 'As much as she did glorify herself and did revel, so much torment and sorrow give to her, because in her heart she says, I sit a queen, and a widow I am not, and sorrow I shall not see;
