⁹ for not yet did they know the Writing, that it behooves him out of the dead to rise again.

²¹ From that time began Jesus to show to his disciples that it is necessary for him to go away to Jerusalem, and to suffer many things from the elders, and chief priests, and scribes, and to be put to death, and the third day to rise. ²² And having taken him aside, Peter began to rebuke him, saying, 'Be kind to yourself, sir; this shall not be to you;'

²⁹ And Jesus answering said to them, 'You go astray, not knowing the Writings, nor the power of God;

³¹ and began to teach them, that it is necessary for the Son of Man to suffer many things, and to be rejected by the elders, and chief priests, and scribes, and to be killed, and after three days to rise again; ³² and openly he was speaking the word. And Peter having taken him aside, began to rebuke him, ³³ and he, having turned, and having looked on his disciples, rebuked Peter, saying, 'Get behind me, Adversary, because you do not mind the things of God, but the things of men.'

⁹ And as they are coming down from the mount, he charged them that they may declare to no one the things that they saw, except when the Son of Man may rise out of the dead; ¹⁰ and the thing they kept to themselves, questioning together what the rising out of the dead is.

³¹ for he was teaching his disciples, and he said to them, 'The Son of Man is being delivered to the hands of men, and they shall kill him, and having been killed the third day he shall rise,' ³² but they were not understanding the saying, and they were afraid to question him.

⁴⁵ And they were not knowing this saying, and it was veiled from them, that they might not perceive it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.

³³ and having scourged they shall put him to death, and on the third day he shall rise again.' ³⁴ And they none of these things understood, and this saying was hid from them, and they were not knowing the things said.

²⁶ Was it not behooving the Christ these things to suffer, and to enter into his glory?'

⁴⁴ and he said to them, 'These are the words that I spake unto you, being yet with you, that it is necessary for to be fulfilled all the things that are written in the Law of Moses, and the Prophets, and the Psalms, about me.' ⁴⁵ Then opened he up their understanding to understand the Writings, ⁴⁶ and he said to them -- 'Thus it has been written, and thus it was behooving the Christ to suffer, and to rise out of the dead the third day,

²² when, then, he was raised out of the dead, his disciples remembered that he said this to them, and they believed the Writing, and the word that Jesus said.

²⁵ for David said in regard to him: I foresaw the Lord always before me -- because He is on my right hand -- that I may not be moved; ²⁶ because of this was my heart cheered, and my tongue was glad, and yet -- my flesh also shall rest on hope, ²⁷ because You will not leave my soul to hades, nor will You give Your Kind One to see corruption; ²⁸ You did make known to me ways of life, You shall fill me with joy with Your countenance. ²⁹ 'Men, brethren! it is permitted to speak with freedom unto you concerning the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is among us unto this day; ³⁰ a prophet, therefore, being, and knowing that with an oath God did swear to him, out of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, to raise up the Christ, to sit upon his throne, ³¹ having foreseen, he did speak concerning the rising again of the Christ, that his soul was not left to hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. ³² 'This Jesus did God raise up, of which we are all witnesses;

²⁹ and when they did complete all the things written about him, having taken him down from the tree, they laid him in a tomb; ³⁰ and God did raise him out of the dead, ³¹ and he was seen for many days of those who did come up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people. ³² 'And we to you do proclaim good news -- that the promise made unto the fathers, ³³ God has in full completed this to us their children, having raised up Jesus, as also in the second Psalm it has been written, My Son you are -- I to-day have begotten you. ³⁴ 'And that He did raise him up out of the dead, no more to return to corruption, he has said thus -- I will give to you the faithful kindnesses of David; ³⁵ therefore also in another place he said, You shall not give Your kind One to see corruption, ³⁶ for David, indeed, his own generation having served by the will of God, did fall asleep, and was added unto his fathers, and saw corruption, ³⁷ but he whom God did raise up, did not see corruption.

⁴ and that he was buried, and that he has risen on the third day, according to the Writings,
