¹³ who did rescue us out of the authority of the darkness, and did translate us into the reign of the Son of His love,

¹⁷ and lo, a voice out of the heavens, saying, 'This is My Son -- the Beloved, in whom I did delight.'

²⁹ 'Or how is one able to go into the house of the strong man, and to plunder his goods, if first he may not bind the strong man? And then his house he will plunder. ³⁰ 'He who is not with me is against me, and he who is not gathering with me, does scatter.

⁵ While he is yet speaking, lo, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and lo, a voice out of the cloud, saying, 'This is My Son, -- the Beloved, in whom I did delight; hear him.'

³⁴ 'Then shall the king say to those on his right hand, Come you, the blessed of my Father, inherit the reign that has been prepared for you from the foundation of the world;

²⁴ 'Be striving to go in through the straight gate, because many, I say to you, will seek to go in, and shall not be able;

⁵³ while daily I was with you in the temple, you did stretch forth no hands against me; but this is your hour and the power of the darkness.'

³⁵ the Father does love the Son, and all things has given into his hand;

²⁴ 'Verily, verily, I say to you -- He who is hearing my word, and is believing Him who sent me, has life age-during, and to judgment he does not come, but has passed out of the death to the life.

³¹ now is a judgment of this world, now shall the ruler of this world be cast forth; ³² and I, if I may be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto myself.'

²⁴ 'Father, those whom You have given to me, I will that where I am they also may be with me, that they may behold my glory that You did give to me, because You did love me before the foundation of the world.

¹⁸ to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light, and from the authority of the Adversary unto God, for their receiving forgiveness of sins, and a lot among those having been sanctified, by faith that is toward me.

¹⁷ and thanks to God, that you were servants of the sin, and -- were obedient from the heart to the form of teaching to which you were delivered up; ¹⁸ and having been freed from the sin, you became servants to the righteousness. ¹⁹ In the manner of men I speak, because of the weakness of your flesh, for even as you did present your members servants to the uncleanness and to the lawlessness -- to the lawlessness, so now present your members servants to the righteousness -- to sanctification, ²⁰ for when you were servants of the sin, you were free from the righteousness, ²¹ what fruit, therefore, were you having then, in the things of which you are now ashamed? for the end of those is death. ²² And now, having been freed from the sin, and having become servants to God, you have your fruit -- to sanctification, and the end life age-during;

¹⁷ for the reign of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit;

⁹ have you not known that the unrighteous the reign of God shall not inherit? be not led astray; neither whoremongers, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor sodomites, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, the reign of God shall inherit. ¹¹ And certain of you were these! but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were declared righteous, in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God.

²³ and each in his proper order, a first-fruit Christ, afterwards those who are the Christ's, in his presence, ²⁴ then -- the end, when he may deliver up the reign to God, even the Father, when he may have made useless all rule, and all authority and power -- ²⁵ for it behooves him to reign till he may have put all the enemies under his feet --

⁴ in whom the god of this age did blind the minds of the unbelieving, that there does not shine forth to them the enlightening of the good news of the glory of the Christ, who is the image of God;

¹⁷ therefore, come you forth out of the midst of them, and be separated, says the Lord, and an unclean thing do not touch, and I -- I will receive you, ¹⁸ and I will be to you for a Father, and you -- you shall be to Me for sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.'

⁶ to the praise of the glory of His grace, in which He made us accepted in the beloved\'7bSome Western MSS read "his beloved (dear) Son"\'7d,

³ among whom also we all did walk once in the desires of our flesh, doing the wishes\'7bdesires\'7d of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath -- as also the others, ⁴ and God, being rich in kindness, because of His great love with which He loved us, ⁵ even being dead in the trespasses, made us to live together with the Christ, (by grace you are having been saved,) ⁶ and raised us up together, and did seat us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, ⁷ that He might show, in the ages that are coming, the exceeding\'7bsuperb\'7d riches of His grace in kindness\'7bgoodness\'7d toward us in Christ Jesus, ⁸ for by grace you are having been saved, through faith, and this not of you -- of God the gift, ⁹ not of works, that no one may boast; ¹⁰ for of Him we are workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God did before prepare, that in them we may walk.

¹⁸ being darkened in the understanding, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart,

⁸ for you were once darkness, and now light in the Lord; as children of light walk you,

¹² because we have not the wrestling with blood and flesh, but with the principalities, with the authorities, with the world-rulers of the darkness of this age, with the spiritual things of the evil in the heavenly places;

¹² for your walking worthily of God, who is calling you to His own reign and glory.

³ for we were once -- also we -- thoughtless, disobedient, led astray, serving desires and pleasures manifold\'7bmany\'7d, in malice and envy living, odious -- hating one another; ⁴ and when the kindness and the love to men of God our Saviour did appear ⁵ (not by works that are in righteousness that we did but according to His kindness,) He did save us, through a bathing of regeneration, and a renewing of the Holy Spirit, ⁶ which He poured upon us richly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour,

¹⁴ Seeing, then, the children have partaken of flesh and blood, he himself also in like manner did take part of the same, that through death he might destroy him having the power of death -- that is, the devil --

⁹ and you are a choice race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people acquired, that the excellences you may show forth of Him who out of darkness did call you to His wondrous light;

¹¹ for so, richly shall be superadded to you the entrance into the age-during reign of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

⁸ again, a new command I write to you, which thing is true in him and in you, because the darkness does pass away, and the true light does now shine;

⁸ he who is doing the sin, of the devil he is, because from the beginning the devil does sin; for this was the Son of God manifested, that he may break up the works of the devil;

¹⁴ we -- we have known that we have passed out of the death to the life, because we love the brethren; he who is not loving the brother does remain in the death.
