¹⁶ and I remembered the saying of the Lord, how he said, John indeed did baptize with water, and you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit;

¹¹ 'I indeed do baptize you with water to reformation, but he who after me is coming is mightier than I, of whom I am not worthy to bear the sandals, he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire,

⁸ I indeed did baptize you with water, but he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit.'

¹⁶ John answered, saying to all, 'I indeed with water do baptize you, but he comes who is mightier than I, of whom I am not worthy to loose the latchet of his sandals -- he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire;

⁸ And they remembered his sayings,

²⁶ John answered them, saying, 'I baptize with water, but in midst of you he has stood whom you have not known, this one it is who is coming after me, who has been before me,

³³ and I did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water, He said to me, On whomsoever you mayest see the Spirit coming down, and remaining on him, this is he who is baptizing with the Holy Spirit;

²⁶ and the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and remind you of all things that I said to you.

⁴ 'But these things I have spoken to you, that when the hour may come, you may remember them, that I said them to you, and these things to you from the beginning I did not say, because I was with you;

⁵ because John, indeed, baptized with water, and you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit -- after not many days.'

² he said unto them, 'The Holy Spirit did you receive -- having believed?' and they said unto him, 'But we did not even hear whether there is any Holy Spirit;' ³ and he said unto them, 'To what, then, were you baptized?' and they said, 'To John's baptism.' ⁴ And Paul said, 'John, indeed, did baptize with a baptism of reformation, saying to the people that in him who is coming after him they should believe -- that is, in the Christ -- Jesus;'

³⁵ all things I did show you, that, thus labouring, it behooves us to partake with the ailing, to be mindful also of the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.'

¹³ for also in one Spirit we all to one body were baptized, whether Jews or Greeks, whether servants or freemen, and all into one Spirit were made to drink,

⁵ (not by works that are in righteousness that we did but according to His kindness,) He did save us, through a bathing of regeneration, and a renewing of the Holy Spirit, ⁶ which He poured upon us richly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour,
