⁶ Knowing this, that our old man has been crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should no longer be enslaved by sin.

³⁴ Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Whoever commits sin is the slave of sin. ³⁵ And the slave does not abide in the house forever: but the Son abides forever. ³⁶ If the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.

¹² Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal bodies, to make you obey its lusts.

²² But now, having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you gain the benefit that leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

²⁴ O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from this body of death? ²⁵ Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then, with my mind I myself serve the law of God; but with my flesh the law of sin.

³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, as an offering for sin; condemning sin in the flesh: ⁴ That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk in the ways of the flesh, but in the ways of the Spirit.

¹³ For if you live according to the flesh, you shall die: but if through the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you shall live.

²⁰ I have been crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

²⁴ And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

¹⁴ But God forbid that I should glory, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world.

²² Then put off the old man, which belongs to your former life, which is corrupt through deceitful lusts;

¹¹ In him also you were circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: ¹² Having been buried with him in baptism, you have also risen with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.

⁵ Therefore, put to death what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

⁹ Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his deeds; ¹⁰ And have put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of the one who created him.
