¹⁹ Therefore, let us follow after the things which make for peace, and things which edify one another.

⁹ Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called sons of God.

⁵⁰ Salt is good: but if the salt has lost its saltiness, with what will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another.

¹⁸ If it is possible, as much as it lies with you, live peaceably with all men.

² Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good, to edify him.

¹⁵ But if the unbelieving one departs, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: for God has called us to peace.

³³ Just as I try to please all men in all things, not seeking my own good, but that of the many, that they may be saved.

¹² So with you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, seek to excel in edifying the church. ¹³ Therefore, let him who speaks in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret. ¹⁴ For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. ¹⁵ What am I to do? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the mind also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the mind also. ¹⁶ Otherwise when you bless with the spirit, how shall he who is ungifted say Amen to your giving of thanks, seeing that he does not understand what you say? ¹⁷ For you may truly give thanks well, but the other man is not edified.

²⁶ What then, brethren? when you come together, every one of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.

¹⁹ All this time have you been thinking that we are defending ourselves to you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your strengthening.

¹¹ Finally, brethren, farewell. Aim to be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

³ Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. ⁴ There is one body, and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope in your calling; ⁵ One Lord, one faith, one baptism, ⁶ One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in all. ⁷ But to every one of us grace was given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

²⁹ Let no corrupt words proceed out of your mouth, but only that which is good for edifying, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

¹ If, therefore, there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation in love, if any fellowship in the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, ² Fulfill my joy by being likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord and of one mind. ³ Let nothing be done through selfishness or vain conceit; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem the others as better than himself. ⁴ Let each of you not only look to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

¹² Therefore, as the chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on hearts of mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience; ¹³ Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another. If any man has a complaint against another; just as Christ forgave you, so you do the same. ¹⁴ And above all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. ¹⁵ And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to this; and be thankful.

¹¹ Therefore, comfort one another, and build one another up, just as you are doing. ¹² And we urge you, brethren, to respect those who labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

⁴ Nor to give heed to myths and endless genealogies, which promote useless speculation, rather than godly training, which is by faith.

²² Flee youthful lusts: and follow righteousness, faith, love, and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

¹⁴ Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.

¹³ Who is wise and understanding among you? by his good life let him show forth works done with the humility of wisdom. ¹⁴ But if you have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. ¹⁵ This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, devilish. ¹⁶ For where there is envy and selfish ambition, there is confusion and every evil work. ¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. ¹⁸ And the harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

¹¹ Let him turn from evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and pursue it.
