¹³ And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, they weighed anchor, and sailed close along the shore of Crete. ¹⁴ But not long after there arose a tempestuous wind, called the northeaster. ¹⁵ And when the ship was caught, and could not make headway into the wind, we let her be driven along. ¹⁶ And running under the lee of a small island called Cauda, we had much work to secure the ship's boat. ¹⁷ When they had taken it up, they used ropes to undergird the ship; and, fearing lest they should run into the sandbars of Syrtis, let down the sea anchor, and so were driven along. ¹⁸ As we were exceedingly tossed by the tempest, the next day they threw the cargo overboard; ¹⁹ And the third day they cast out the ship's tackle with their own hands. ²⁰ And when neither sun nor stars appeared in many days, and no small tempest lay upon us, all hope that we should be saved was abandoned. ²¹ Then as they had been long without food, Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Men, you should have listened to me, and not have set sail from Crete, and incurred this damage and loss. ²² But now I encourage you to be of good cheer; for there shall be no loss of life among you, but only the ship will be lost. ²³ For this night there stood before me an angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, ²⁴ Saying, Do not fear, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God has given you all those who sail with you. ²⁵ Therefore, men, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be exactly as I was told. ²⁶ Yet we must be cast upon a certain island. ²⁷ But when the fourteenth night had come, as we were driven about on the Sea of Adria, about midnight the sailors sensed that they were approaching land; ²⁸ And took soundings, and found the water was twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it was fifteen fathoms. ²⁹ Then fearing lest we should run upon the rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day. ³⁰ As the sailors were about to flee the ship, and had let down the ship's boat into the sea, pretending they would cast out anchors from the bow, ³¹ Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Unless these men stay in the ship, you cannot be saved.

Not a hair shall perish from the head of any of you. ³⁵ And when he had spoken thus, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in the presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat. ³⁶ Then they were all of good cheer, and they also took some food. ³⁷ In all, there were two hundred and seventy-six of us in the ship. ³⁸ And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship by casting the wheat into the sea.

⁴³ But the centurion, wanting to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that those who could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:

²⁰ He did not waver through unbelief in the promise of God; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

⁴ They are the Israelites; to whom belongs the adoption as sons, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the temple worship, and the promises;

⁹ And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will praise you among the Gentiles, and sing to your name. ¹⁰ And again he says, Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people. ¹¹ And again, Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles; and praise him, all you people. ¹² And again, Isaiah says, The root of Jesse shall come, and he shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles hope. ¹³ Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

²⁰ Where is the wise man? where is the scribe? where is the debater of this age? has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

⁹ Do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexual offenders,

⁵ Do we not have the right to take along a believing wife, as do the other apostles, and the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?

²⁵ The secrets of his heart are disclosed; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is really among you.

²⁰ But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first-fruits of those who sleep.

¹⁶ Therefore, we no longer regard man according to the flesh: though once we regarded Christ according to the flesh, yet now we regard him thus no longer.

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that through his poverty you might become rich.

²⁵ Thrice I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have spent in the deep; ²⁶ On frequent journeys, in perils from rivers, in perils from robbers, in perils from my own countrymen, in perils from the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils on the sea, in perils among false brethren;

²⁸ There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus. ²⁹ And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

¹ And you were dead in trespasses and sins;

⁵ Even when we were dead in transgressions, has made us alive together with Christ, (by grace you are saved;)

¹¹ Therefore remember, that in times past you Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by those who are called the Circumcision, (that which is performed in the flesh by hands;) ¹² That at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: ¹³ But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. ¹⁴ For he is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the wall of hostility between us;

⁶ That is, that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and sharers together of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel:

¹⁴ Therefore he says, Awaken, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light.

⁵ Slaves, be obedient to those who are your earthly masters, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; ⁶ Not with eye-service, as men-pleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

¹³ And you, being dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he has made alive together with him, having forgiven us all transgressions;

¹¹ Here there is neither Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian or Scythian, slave or free: but Christ is all, and in all.

²² Slaves, obey your earthly masters in all things; not as an outward show, as pleasers of men; but with singleness of heart, fearing the Lord:

¹ Masters, give to your slaves that which is just and fair; knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.

⁵ Which is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you suffer.

² An overseer must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, respectable, given to hospitality, able to teach;

³ Forbidding marriage, and commanding abstinence from foods which God has created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

⁶ But she who lives in self-indulgence is dead while she lives.

² And those who have believing masters must not despise them because they are brethren; but rather service them all the more, because those who partake of their services are believers and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.

⁹ Urge servants to be obedient to their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not to talk back,

¹⁶ No longer as a slave, but more than a slave, as a beloved brother, especially to me, but how much more to you, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?

⁴ Marriage is to be held in honour by all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled: for the sexually immoral and adulterers God will judge.

¹⁹ You believe that there is one God; you do well: the devils believe also, and tremble.

²⁴ He himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we might die to sins and live to righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

⁴ For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into pits of gloom, to be reserved for judgment;

¹⁷ These are wells without water, mists driven before a tempest; for whom the blackest darkness is reserved.

⁶ And the angels which did not keep their own domain, but left their proper abode, he has kept in eternal chains under darkness for the great day of judgment.

¹³ Raging waves of the sea, flinging up the foam of their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the blackest darkness is reserved forever.

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will eat with him, and he with me. ²¹ To him who overcomes I will grant the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame, and sat down with my Father on his throne.

⁶ From the tribe of Asher were sealed twelve thousand. From the tribe of Naphtali were sealed twelve thousand. From the tribe of Manasseh were sealed twelve thousand.

² And he had open in his hand a little scroll: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot upon the earth,

¹² Therefore rejoice, you heavens, and you who live in them. Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and of the sea! for the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has but a short time.

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said to me, Do not do that: I am a fellow servant with you and your brethren, who hold to the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

¹ And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. ² And he laid hold of the dragon, that old serpent, who is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years,

⁷ And when the thousand years have expired, Satan shall be released from his prison,

⁸ I, John, heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed me these things. ⁹ Then he said to me, Do not do that: I am a fellow servant with you and your brethren the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book: worship God.
