²² Pilate said to them, What shall I do then with Jesus who is called Christ? They all said to him, Let him be crucified.

¹⁶ And Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, by whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

¹⁷ Therefore, when they were gathered together, Pilate said to them, Whom do you want me to release for you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?

⁵⁵ And the chief priests and all the council sought for testimony against Jesus to put him to death; but found none.

²⁰ Pilate, wanting to release Jesus, spoke to them again. ²¹ But they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. ²² And he said to them a third time, Why, what evil has he done? I have found in him no crime deserving death: therefore I will chastise him, and let him go. ²³ And they were insistent, with loud voices demanding that he be crucified. And their voices prevailed. ²⁴ So Pilate pronounced the sentence they demanded.

¹⁴ And it was the day of preparation for the passover, about the sixth hour: and he said to the Jews, Behold your King! ¹⁵ But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate said to them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

³⁸ Therefore, let it be known to you, brethren, that through this man the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you:
