²⁷ For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even to the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

²⁸ Truly I say to you, There are some standing here, who shall not taste of death, until they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

³ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, Tell us when these things shall be? and what shall be the sign of your coming, and of the end of the age?

³⁷ But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

³⁹ And they did not know until the flood came and took them all away; so shall the coming of the Son of man be.

²⁴ For as the lightning flashes in one part of the sky and shines to the other; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. ²⁵ But first he must suffer many things, and be rejected by this generation. ²⁶ As it was in the days of Noah, so it shall also be in the days of the Son of man. ²⁷ They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. ²⁸ It was the same in the days of Lot; they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; ²⁹ But on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. ³⁰ Even so shall it be on the day when the Son of man is revealed. ³¹ On that day, let him who is upon the housetop, and his goods in the house, not come down to take them away: and likewise let not him who is in the field turn back. ³² Remember Lot's wife. ³³ Whoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whoever shall lose his life shall preserve it. ³⁴ I tell you, in that night two shall be in one bed; one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. ³⁵ Two women shall be grinding together; one shall be taken, and the other left. ³⁶ [Two men shall be in the field; one shall be taken, and the other left.] ³⁷ And they answered and said to him, Where, Lord? And he said to them, Wherever the body is, there will the vultures be gathered.

⁸ You also be patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draws near.

⁴ And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
