¹⁰ And then shall many fall away, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

²¹ And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

³⁵ For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. ³⁶ And a man's foes shall be those of his own household.

⁶ And blessed is he who does not find cause to stumble over me.

²¹ Yet he has no root in himself, and endures only for a while: when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, he falls away.

⁵⁷ And they were offended by him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honour, except in his home town, and in his own house.

²¹ And as they ate, he said, Truly I say to you, that one of you shall betray me. ²² And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and every one of them began to say to him, Lord, is it I? ²³ And he answered and said, He who dipped his hand with me in the dish shall betray me. ²⁴ The Son of man goes as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it would have been better for that man if he had not been born.

³¹ Then Jesus said to them, This night all of you shall fall away because of me: for it is written, I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered. ³² But after I have risen, I will go before you into Galilee. ³³ Peter answered and said to him, Though all fall away because of you, yet I will never fall away. ³⁴ Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you, That this night, before the cock crows, you shall deny me thrice.

¹⁷ But have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution arises for the word's sake, they immediately fall away.

⁶⁶ From that time many of his disciples drew back, and no longer walked with him. ⁶⁷ Then Jesus said to the twelve, Do you also want to go away?

¹⁵ This you know, that all those who are in Asia have turned away from me; among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.

¹⁰ For Demas, having loved this present world, has forsaken me and has departed to Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia.

¹⁶ At my first defence no man stood with me, but all forsook me. May it not be counted against them.
