³ And he said to them, Take nothing for your journey, no staff, no bag, no bread, no money; not even an extra tunic.

⁹ Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor copper for your purses, ¹⁰ Nor bag for your journey, nor two coats, nor sandals, nor a staff: for the workman is worthy of his food. ¹¹ And into whatever city or village you shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and abide there until you depart. ¹² And when you come into a house, greet it. ¹³ And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. ¹⁴ And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.

⁸ And commanded them to take nothing for their journey, except a staff; no bread, no bag, no money in their belts: ⁹ But to wear sandals; and not to put on two tunics. ¹⁰ And he said to them, Wherever you enter a house, abide there until you depart from that place. ¹¹ And whoever will not receive you, or hear you, when you depart from there, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.

¹¹ He answered and said to them, He who has two coats, let him share with him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.

²⁹ And Levi made a great feast in his own house for him: and there was a great company of tax gatherers and of others who were reclining at table with them.

⁴ Carry neither purse, nor bag, nor sandals: and greet no man along the way. ⁵ And into whatever house you enter, first say, Peace be to this house. ⁶ And if a son of peace is there, your peace shall rest upon him: if not, it shall turn to you. ⁷ Remain in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house. ⁸ And into whatever town you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: ⁹ And heal the sick who are in it, and say to them, The kingdom of God has come near to you. ¹⁰ But into whatever town you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, ¹¹ Even the very dust of your town, which clings to us, we wipe off against you: nevertheless, be sure of this, that the kingdom of God has come near to you. ¹² I say to you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that town.

²² And he said to his disciples, Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat; or for the body, what you shall put on.

²⁸ If then God so clothes the grass, which is in the field today, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith?

³⁵ And he said to them, When I sent you out without purse, or bag, or sandals, did you lack anything? And they said, Nothing.

⁴ No soldier on active service entangles himself with the affairs of civilian life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier.
