⁸ I tell you that he will vindicate them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith on the earth?

⁹ Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated by all nations for my name's sake. ¹⁰ And then shall many fall away, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. ¹¹ And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. ¹² And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold. ¹³ But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

²⁴ For false Christs shall arise, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so as to deceive, if it were possible, even the very elect.

²⁶ As it was in the days of Noah, so it shall also be in the days of the Son of man. ²⁷ They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. ²⁸ It was the same in the days of Lot; they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; ²⁹ But on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. ³⁰ Even so shall it be on the day when the Son of man is revealed.

¹ But of the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I write to you. ² For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night. ³ For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction shall come upon them, as birth pangs upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

²³ Let us hold fast the profession of our hope, without wavering; (for he who promised is faithful;) ²⁴ And let us consider how to arouse one another to love and to good works: ²⁵ Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day approaching. ²⁶ For if we sin wilfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins,

¹ Come now, you rich men, weep and howl for the miseries that shall come upon you. ² Your riches have rotted, and your garments are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver is corroded; and their rust shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as if it were fire. You have heaped treasure together in the last days. ⁴ Behold, the wages of the labourers who have reaped your fields, which you withheld, cry out against you: and the cries of those who reaped have been heard by the ears of the Lord of hosts. ⁵ You have lived in luxury on the earth, and in self-indulgence; you have fattened your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. ⁶ You have condemned and killed the just man; and he does not resist you. ⁷ Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and is patient for it, until it receives the early and the late rains. ⁸ You also be patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draws near.

³ And in greed they shall exploit you with false words: the judgment against them from of old does not linger, and their condemnation does not slumber.

⁸ But, beloved, do not be ignorant of this one thing, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. ⁹ The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some men count slowness; but is patient toward you, not wanting that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
