²⁰ And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

²⁶ If anyone comes to me, and does not hate his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, yea, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. ²⁷ And whoever does not carry his own cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. ²⁸ For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has sufficient money to finish it?

²⁹ And he said to them, Truly I say to you, There is no man who has left house, or parents, or brothers, or wife, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, ³⁰ Who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the world to come, life everlasting.

²⁹ But this I say, brethren, the time is short: from now on let those who have wives be as though they had none; ³⁰ And those who weep, as though they did not weep; and those who rejoice, as though they did not rejoice; and those who buy, as though they did not possess; ³¹ And those who use this world, as though not engrossed in it: for the form of this world passes away.
