⁷ He again fixes a certain day, calling it Today, saying through David after so long a time, as was said before, Today if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.

⁴³ He said to them, How then does David in the spirit call him Lord, saying,

³⁶ For David himself said by the Holy Spirit, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit on my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet.

⁴² David himself says in the book of Psalms, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand,

²⁹ Brethren, let me say confidently to you of the patriarch David; that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

³¹ He foresaw this and spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in Hades, neither did his flesh see corruption.

²⁰ And after that he gave them judges, until Samuel the prophet. ²¹ And afterward they asked for a king: and God gave to them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for the space of forty years. ²² And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my own heart, who shall fulfill all my will. ²³ Of this man's descendants God, according to his promise, has raised up for Israel a Saviour, Jesus.

²⁵ And when they could not agree among themselves, they departed, after Paul spoke one last statement, Well did the Holy Spirit speak by Isaiah the prophet to our fathers,

⁷ Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, Today if you hear his voice, ⁸ Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness:
