²² Then put off the old man, which belongs to your former life, which is corrupt through deceitful lusts;

⁶ Knowing this, that our old man has been crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should no longer be enslaved by sin.

¹¹ For sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me.

¹³ For you have heard of my former life in Judaism, that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and tried to destroy it:

³ Among them we all lived in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, like the others.

¹⁷ This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as other Gentiles walk, in the futility of their minds,

²⁵ Therefore, putting away lying, let every man speak the truth with his neighbour: for we are members of one another.

¹¹ In him also you were circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

⁷ And in them you also walked at one time, when you lived in them. ⁸ But now put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy speech from your mouth. ⁹ Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his deeds;

³ For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, slaves to various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy; hated, and hating one another.

¹³ But encourage one another daily, while it is called Today; lest any of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

¹ Therefore, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily entangle us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

²¹ Therefore, lay aside all filthiness and the wickedness that is so abundant, and receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

²⁶ If any man among you thinks he is religious, but does not bridle his tongue, he deceives his own heart and his religion is in vain.

¹⁸ For you know that you were not redeemed with perishable things, such as silver and gold, from the vain way of life you inherited from your fathers;

¹ Therefore, laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisy, and envy, and all kinds of slander, ² As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow by it in your salvation:

³ For the time past was sufficient for doing the things the Gentiles desire to do: living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, revelling, carousing, and abominable idolatries.

⁷ And delivered righteous Lot, who was vexed by the licentious lives of the wicked:

¹³ And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness. They count it pleasure to carouse in the daytime. They are spots and blemishes, revelling in their own deceptions while they feast with you;
