²⁹ And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a tomb.

⁵⁷ When evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathaea, named Joseph, who had himself also become a disciple of Jesus. ⁵⁸ He went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded it be delivered to him. ⁵⁹ And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, ⁶⁰ And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone over the door of the tomb, and departed.

⁴⁵ And when he learned from the centurion that it was so, he gave the body to Joseph. ⁴⁶ So he bought a fine linen cloth, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a tomb which was cut out of the rock, and rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.

³¹ Then he took the twelve aside, and said to them, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. ³² For he shall be delivered to the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully treated, and spit upon: ³³ And they shall flog him, and put him to death: and on the third day he shall rise again.

⁵³ And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb cut into the stone, where no man had ever before been laid.

⁴⁴ He said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled which are written about me in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms.

²⁸ After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, said in fulfillment of the scripture, I thirst.

³⁰ When Jesus received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up his spirit.

³⁶ For these things came to pass that the scripture should be fulfilled, Not one of his bones shall be broken. ³⁷ And again another scripture says, They shall look on him whom they have pierced. ³⁸ After this, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him permission. Therefore he came and took his body. ³⁹ And Nicodemus also came, who first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds' weight. ⁴⁰ They took the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews. ⁴¹ Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had yet been laid. ⁴² Because of the Jewish day of preparation, as the tomb was near at hand, they laid Jesus there.

²³ This man, being delivered up by the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by the hands of wicked men have crucified and slain.

²⁸ To do whatever your hand and your counsel predestined to be done.

³⁰ The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree.

²⁷ For those who live in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor understand the words of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, have fulfilled these by condemning him.

⁴ And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
