⁴¹ Not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen beforehand by God, that is, to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

³⁰ And it came to pass, as he was at table with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to them.

⁴¹ And while they still did not believe because of joy, and marvelled, he said to them, Have you anything here to eat? ⁴² And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish. ⁴³ And he took it, and ate it before them.

¹⁷ That is the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see him, neither does it know him: but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you.

²² Judas, not Iscariot, said to him, Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?

¹⁶ You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and appointed you to go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: so that whatever you shall ask from the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

¹ The first day of the week Mary Magdalene came early, when it was yet dark, to the tomb, and saw the stone taken away from the tomb. ² Then she ran, and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him. ³ Therefore Peter went forth, with the other disciple, toward the tomb. ⁴ So they both ran together: and the other disciple outran Peter, and came first to the tomb. ⁵ And he stooped down, and looked in, and saw the linen wrappings lying there; but he did not go in. ⁶ Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb, and saw the linen wrappings lying there, ⁷ And the cloth, which had been around his head, was not lying with the linen wrappings, but was rolled up in a place by itself. ⁸ Then the other disciple, who came first to the tomb, went in also and he saw, and believed. ⁹ For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead. ¹⁰ Then the disciples went away again to their own homes. ¹¹ But Mary stood outside the tomb weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the tomb, ¹² And saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. ¹³ And they said to her, Woman, why do you weep? She said to them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him. ¹⁴ And when she had said this, she turned around, and saw Jesus standing, but did not know that it was Jesus. ¹⁵ Jesus said to her, Woman, why do you weep? whom do you seek? She, supposing him to be the gardener, said to him, Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away. ¹⁶ Jesus said to her, Mary. She turned, and said to him, Rabboni; which is to say, Teacher. ¹⁷ Jesus said to her, Do not hold me; for I have not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say to them, I ascend to my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. ¹⁸ Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things to her. ¹⁹ Then at evening of the same day, the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst, and said to them, Peace be with you. ²⁰ And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. ²¹ Then Jesus said to them again, Peace be with you: as my Father has sent me, even so I send you.

¹³ Then Jesus came, and took bread, and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.

² Until the day he was taken up, after he had, through the Holy Spirit, given commands to the apostles whom he had chosen. ³ To them he showed himself alive after his suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them over forty days, and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God:

²² Beginning with the baptism of John until the day that he was taken up from us, one of these must be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

³⁹ And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem. And they killed him by hanging him on a tree:

³¹ And he was seen for many days by those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people.
