² For during a great test of affliction, the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty overflowed in a wealth of liberality.

⁴² And a certain poor widow came, and she put in two small copper coins, which make a farthing. ⁴³ And he called his disciples to him, and said to them, Truly I say to you, That this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others: ⁴⁴ For all the others gave out of their abundance; but she gave out of her poverty, putting in everything she had, all she had to live on.

¹ And he looked up, and saw the rich people putting their gifts into the treasury. ² And he also saw a certain poor widow putting in two small copper coins. ³ And he said, Truly I say to you, that this poor widow has put in more than all of them: ⁴ For all these have given offerings to God out of their abundance: but she in her poverty has put in all she had to live on.

⁴⁵ And they sold their possessions and goods, and distributed them to all men, as every man had need. ⁴⁶ And they continued daily to assemble in the temple, and to break bread from house to house, and to eat their food with gladness and sincerity of heart,

⁸ Or he who exhorts, in exhortation: he who gives, with generosity; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

¹² For our boast is in this: the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and still more toward you.

¹⁰ As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

¹¹ You will be enriched in everything, so you can be generous, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

¹³ Because of the proof given by this service, they will glorify God because of your obedience to the gospel of Christ, which you profess, and for your liberal contribution to them, and to all;

⁶ And you became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word despite much affliction, with joy from the Holy Spirit:

¹⁴ For you, brethren, became followers of the churches of God in Christ Jesus which are in Judaea: for you also have suffered the same things from your own countrymen, even as they have from the Jews:

³ That no man should be disturbed by these afflictions: for you yourselves know that we are destined for this. ⁴ For truly, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we should suffer tribulation; just as it came to pass, as you know.

⁵ Listen, my beloved brethren, Has not God chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to those who love him?

⁹ I know your tribulation and your poverty, (but you are rich) and the slander of those who say they are Jews, and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
